Yknow originally i thought this was supposed to be a reference to the mission impossible theme song but it REALLY seems like they killed two birds with one stone and also made it a reference to Rainbow Factory... i mean... it sounds like both, and that couldn't have been a mistake
That's what I think too! It was a reference to spy movies, but since she was by the rainbow factory, and she is Rainbow Dash who was the main villain in the original fanfic, it seems like the guy who wrote the music decided to reference both.

@@anam_motahir It may not be in G4 specifically, but in the G5 concept art they was seemingly plans for a rainbow factory in Maretime Bay, not to mention in the season 8 finale they outright mention the rainbow factory, while liking it was by no means is it the same pegasus killer we're used to, it's still there.

Also, this wouldn't be the first time My Little Pony has made a reference through the background music. The guys who does the background music seems to like to make references every now and then, such as in the episode It's About Time, when Twilight sees her future self time travel to her, the background music sounds very similar to I Am The Doctor from Doctor Who, a show all about Time Travel, and pretty well known in the MLP fandom because of Doctor Whooves.
Also another time when he's made a reference from music is in the episode The Return of Harmony - Part 2, where there is a scene that obviously is meant to parody the throne room scene from Star Wars: A New Hope, and the background music sounds very "star warsy", and similar to John Williams music.
Also in Wonderbolts academy, there is a tune that plays a few times that sounds very similar to a tune from Pokémon.
Me after hearing this : We gotta catch them all
William Anderson is the guy who made all those background musical pieces! He used to be in Weird Al's band, and was a help in getting Al on the show. He is definitely a supporter of fan works and bronies in general, and is known to weave musical references into his work. So every one of these seems plausibly intentional to me!
In the mysterious mare do well, they literally played the tune from Batman 89 lol

Neither of these songs have any right to be so good, background song or actual Rainbow Factory, its incredible how both the fandom and the show are so talented in songwriting.
I'm glad that there's still some of this fandom left, but we NEED to revive it lmao, this is just super nostalgic to me and makes me extremely sentimental. Super excited to see BPD's re-animation of Pegasus Device and Rainbow Factory,,, Hope we bring it back more. Story's genuinely interesting AND the whole idea behind this just smart
Even with the new generation, it's fine. I'm just happy that mlp is quite well and alive anyways

There's still plenty of life in the fandom. Start watching the content again and it'll show up in your feed. RUclips's sabotage and destruction of short form high effort content is still in effect. If communities and nonprofessional produced content is allowed to grow and be more than interesting enough compared to the official stuff that's made almost as cheaply as possible, then that's not in the best interests of established titans in the industry, since that would represent a change in the industry.
I agree with you.
Also do you have a link to these animations?
Honestly I don't really like the canon after season 3.. It just didnt.. feel the same.

Considering Slice of Life was so full of fandom references, I think it's pretty clear they knew what they were doing
I mean it really just sounds like the classic mission impossible/spy theme that nearly every kids show has used at least once but hey we can dare to dream.
That classic spy music use it everything isn't usually so low
Yeah, the Mission Impossible similarities are obvious, especially in that context but the Rainbow Factory similarities are just not there at all.
@@D_YellowMadness incorrect
Though generally the MI theme (and parody versions) is played faster and higher. The song in the clip is more slow and lumbering, which is weird if you’re doing a scene where a character is trying to be quick and sneaky like RD here.
Maybe it’s just a weird musical choice. But, considering that it’s the exact same melody, I think the composer was at least inspired by or referencing the fan song.
@@KlutzyNinjaKittyIs the MI music not copyrighted? In that case of course it's going to sound different
Rainbow Factory song: January 13, 2012
Tanks for the Memories episode: April 25, 2015
I dont know how long episodes are in production, and when the score would have been done, but that's plenty of time for the song to have blown up and been seen by the crew, and put in the episodes, surely.
The song actually came out in 2011. The PMV by Brony Dance Party came out in 2012. I made that mistake, too.
it is actually kinda dark because that means that this stuff is happening in the background of the show
no
No it isn't. It's just a reference
Bro chill probs a theory-
i think of it as a dark backstory for rainbow dash
@@tygical ye THATS better
honestly, can't say i hear it as anything but the mission impossible sound. rainbow's version is altered a ton, being a lot higher key and stuff. i honestly would have found it hilarious if they actually just used the rainbow factory melody though, and i'm sure wooden toaster would have let them.
It might be a reference, but it also sounds like stereotypical spy music, which would be fitting seeing as she's sneaking into the factory.
It may be ninja music to kids but… We all definitely heard it.
I really don’t know about this because it sounds more to me like mission impossible which is pretty common for kids shows/movies to use mission impossible type music when there’s like a sneaking around scene. But what sticks out to me about it is that it continues on the same like track as rainbow factory, so it might be? I need to listen to it again
Nvm yeah it’s giving rainbow factory mixed with mission impossible so they probably just mixed the two to not make it too obvious. Great though I’ve never seen this episode so I wonder if I would’ve noticed it if I had

How the heck is this not a bigger topic!
It is, most videos just contiuously get copyrighted
That's what I was wondering! When I first watched the episode when it aired, I noticed the reference almost instantly, but so far, hardly anyone else has noticed it and no one is talking about it! It's such a cool reference.
Ikr!!! XD
Okay but like, it really does sound so close, most shows trying to do a mission impossible spoof just use the music straight up or would make something MUCH closer, this sounds much closer to the rainbow factory music!!
the shout-outs to the fanbase that were subtle like this were always moments i loved. this show and its fandom were a one-in-a-million phenomenon i was happy to he a part of
If anyone is still wondering, yes! I still plan to do more MLP Bible videos! The next one should come out soon of the G5 movie!
And the fact Daniel Ingram was a part of the fandom too 😂
i genuinely thought rainbow factory made a entire leitmotif OF this song but, nope, they actually made it afterwards
god damn they're big brain, i love it, this also means that theres a possibility that rainbow dash now works at the rainbow factory but obviously covers it up as to not ruin friendships
With any other show, this would just be a funny coincidence. But this show in particular was unnaturally in tune with its fandom.
They do sound the same... Definitely can't be a coincidence!
Woah, that's so cool!! I really love rainbow factory it's like such a amazing MLP creepypasta I also love lil miss rarity (although it does have suggestive things in it)

How Has No one Seen that Due to The character Sneaking around, The director Decided to Use An Original Background Music Sheet That resembles The Mission Impossible Theme, The Songs are A Lot more Similar to The extra Notes In the Other song. It's just a coincidence that 2 or 3 notes are similar
I think there's way to many factors in here to just say it's a coincidence. I do think that he was trying to resemble the mission impossible music, as Rainbow Dash was being sneaky like a spy, but I also think it was a reference to Rainbow Factory too.
This is going to be along read, so if you don't want to read it all, you don't have to. I think I might use this comment I'm writing as the script to make a follow up video to this video to better explain how the song can't just be a coincidence. And why?
Well, for one, what are the chances of out of all the 221 episodes of G4, that the episode that just happens to sound similar to Rainbow Factory is played in a scene where Rainbow Dash (the main villain in the fan fiction!) is entering the weather factory, where the rainbow factory is! Like, if it was just a coincidence, this song could have been played in any episode in any scene, but it just so happens to be played in one of two times the show is basically at the rainbow factory! If it is just a coincidence, then that is one crazy coincidence!
Also, there's a lot more to this. I have been playing the piano for over 10 years and I have made and worked on probably over 100 songs, and I know a lot about music theory and what it takes to make a song. In music, there are 12 main key signatures to choose from (if you only count the major keys, which most songs are played in). And the background music just happens to also be in the exact same key as the rainbow factory song!
So not only did the song just happen to be in an episode out of 221 episodes where it's basically in the rainbow factory:
Chances 2/221 (Also including Sonic Rainboom)
But it also happened to be in the exact same key as the rainbow factory song!
1/12 (for 12 of the main major key signatures)
But wait, there's more! Sure it's in the same key signature, and it just so happens to be played in a episode and scene where the show is by the rainbow factory, but a lot of songs are in the same key signature and sound completely different. But this background music song sounds very similar to the rainbow factory song! What are the chances of that? I have no idea. It's gotta be really low since there's thousands, if not, millions of songs out there that all share the same key signature but sound completely different. There's millions of ways to make a song, and it just so happens that this song sounds similar to Rainbow Factory.
And how? Well both songs use almost the exact same melody in the chord #Fm starting on the note F# and then going to A, then to G# as a passing not, then back to F#. If you don't know music, you probably have no idea what I just said, but if you watch the video again, it might make more sense.
Not only do both songs use almost the exact same melody, but also the exact same chords! Both use the chord F#m as the starting one, and then also use the B major chord (as in the second verse of the Rainbow Factory song), but the background music also starts the song in almost the exact same melody the Rainbow Factory song starts, using almost the exact same melody.
Sorry that this is so long. It's hard to know what emotion people are feeling through words online, but please know that I'm not trying to win an argument or anything, but I just think this reference is so cool and I want other people to know that it's true too, but not from hate or anything negative. I hope you didn't feel judged or felt like I was angry or something. It's hard to tell what emotions people are trying to convey online through text messages or RUclips comments (I already said that, didn't I?)
But anyway, these are a lot of coincidences, so many big ones that it's easier to believe that it was intentional rather than not. I mean, again, I have made a lot of songs in my time, and if in charge of making background music for this scene in this episode, and I wanted to make the music a rainbow factory reference while I had the chance, I would do something like the composer did. Use a similar opening melody, with some of the chords from the song, in a different beat to change it up and not be an exact copy, to not get a copyright strike or anything, but still being close enough to be noticeable by fans. What if the guy was planning to make the background music for this scene a Rainbow Factory reference, but then his manger said "make it like spy music". Then the composer might have felt bummed out. He wanted to make it a Rainbow Factory reference, but the higher ups had other ideas. But then he got an idea. "I'll just do both! Reference Mission Impossible and the Rainbow Factory!"
Again, sorry for this long comment. I think I will just make this comment into another video as a followup to this one, just so more people know how crazy it is that there's an actually Rainbow Factory reference in the show! I hope you didn't feel like you were forced to read all this if you didn't want to.

@@Afryan_06 No, I dont hear it. It's not the same
@@ashlxserii just different keyword you know. You know what i mean?
@@Afryan_06 You do realize that they have entirely different time signatures, too, right? Rainbow Factory is in 4/4 and this is in 5/4 (or 10/8, depending on how you count it). The only real similarity between the background music and Rainbow Factory is the key, and there's only 24 keys that exist, so there's going to be overlap no matter what.
Also, I don't think you quite realize how copyright law works. As long as a creator holds the copyright for something, they have the right to shut down any and all fan works that they please, and have quite literally nothing to fear in terms of lawsuits from the fans themselves even if they ripped something note-for-note.
