I know we don't want to struggle financially. We don't want to be alone. But we must step away from people that are dark, dangerous, and detrimental to us.

The problem is when people dont take peoples threats seriously. When someone pulls a gun on you in front of a child they are not playing. It is time to wake up and seek help.

Shelia Scott-Gray I’ve seen that 1st hand with my mom. She was dealing with a man just like that. Who would beat her in front of friends and her children. One day, he came to our house and pull a gun out in her face, in front of her children and others ppl’s children. After that, my mom left and didn’t look back.

    • @Nunee1986

A Man Name Solo I’m glad to hear that your mom had enough strength to move on and forward. To not allow a man to only put her life in danger but as well as her children. These situations are life-changing. A woman should always feel protected but a lot of times, we also forget mental illness is real. God protected us all from being another New’s headline!

My kids father was abusing me the same way. He would call me names, beat on me and l was destroyed and defeated. I knew l didn't deserve it but l was weak and he seemed loud and powerful. I began to think thoughts of death in my head. I found the strength to come up with a escape plan. I took my kids and l left him. I never looked back. As a women who was once abused the 1st thing you do is get away from any contact with the abuser.....make it so that he or she can have no contact with you period.

      RAIN DROPS
You’re absolutely right. My cousin was doused with gasoline and set on fire by her ex-husband after having on-again, off-again contact with him. She had a five month baby at the time. Abusive men are psychologically broken; beyond repair.
Controlling and abusing women is the only thing in life that makes them feel alive and empowered. You must run for your life and permanently server all ties with them.

I left three days ago. In a year and a halfs time I've been slapped in my face, exploited over social media secretly, I've been abused financially, I've been verbally attacked consistently, I've had black eyes, contacts knocked out of my eyes, I've been chocked repeatedly and sometimes for nothing at all, I've been accused of horrific things like prostitution, I've had guns pressed against me, been hit in my nose, I've had my hair ripped out several times. , I've been accused of intimacy with relatives and Pastors, I've become accustomed to being called out of my name, I've had my home destroyed, I've been hit in my head countless times, I've had my car stolen for extended periods of time, I've had sludge hammers pressed against my face, I've had irons pressed against my face. I've been pushed and held down, I've had food thrown at me, and I've even had foot spit in my face. But three days ago I simply had enough. In a drunken rage he threw a liquor bottle at the windshield and the glass richorcheted off and cut my hands, I was chocked, held at gun point and not allowed to leave the home we shared. Luckily I broke free and he chased after me attempting to break the window with the butt of the gun. I was able to get away. And once I was free I called the police . Soon he'll be in custody. It's a hard process ladies. Because we finally make the decision to choose us over them but we've gotta do it. If we don't this very story could be our fate. A looong time ago, I left my first marriage because of disrespect (and many people thought I was nuts because he manipulated others into believing he was such a “good guy”) and now he’s in prison for murdering his ex girlfriend. Women need to learn to leave anyone that is disrespectful to them OR others. That is NOT what love looks like and contrary to what many women want to believe, ya can’t “fix them”.

When women choose these dudes they put their lives, children, and family at risk. But even all of this speaks to a deeper level of issues. Clearly this bama had his own emotional issues and this young girl had her own unresolved issues. In the beginning like with so many cases he was probably very nice, and charming then started to show his true colors. The problem is, is that women dont take it seriously when they are threatened, or some feel like they have the strength to fight them off and you dont. Once they get locked up you go seek help from a domestic violence program and they can help you move and everything, they also have counseling for women to help you see where you are going wrong. They were both so young and he felt he had the right to take their lives, which is so damn selfish and he threw his life away also.

I live in Maryland and everyone who heard about this sad case were horrified. A victim always says let them come home. Their conditioned to always do what's best for their abuser not themselves so it's up to the courts to not listen to their opinion on whether the abuser should come home or not. Put them in jail!!!!!

Domestic violence must be removed from our vocabulary. Call it what it is. Felony assault or attempted murder and murder. The term domestic violence is conjures.up a small slap or a shove which isnt taken seriously. Men can get away with more evil.

I was a witness to a situation like this. I was an innocent sister home from college 18 years ago, visiting my sister. Her child's father showed up with threats. I called the cops. Her children's father shot her several times, killed the cop, tried to kill me and ultimately killed himself. God blessed me to not be physically harmed that day. Til this day, it hurts. Women need to learn to be strong to leave these men and take those threats and abuse seriously!

This is so so sad. It’s so important to recognize the signs of crazy and not to be afraid to walk away. I am still haunted by a man I dated almost 20 years ago. He threatened my life, had someone jump me and he stalked me, followed me , kept calling me. I was so young and I didn’t know what to do. I filed a report but that’s all I could do until he actually did something. When he found me on Facebook some years ago , I freaked completely out. No one should have to go through this. Again, recognize the signs and leave.

I work emergency 911 dispatch. Ladies, you have no idea how common domestic homicide truly is. Maybe you already know it’s pretty common, but you don’t even know HOW common. Be safe, be vigilant, have a plan, you can do this! The moment you break free from his isolation and control is the moment he loses almost all control.
Don’t trust a protective order. I’ve seen these documents actually escalate the danger in some cases.
Don’t depend on a chance moment for you to call for help or run out the door, don’t depend on the police to get there in time, don’t depend on your neighbors to call for help when they hear you screaming, don’t believe the lie you tell yourself about not being able to dig yourself out of this hole WITHOUT him, don’t assume he wouldn’t hurt your babies, do NOT assume he won’t kill you! If he has been violent, coercive, controlling, or has access to a firearm, your risk of being a homicide victim immediately go through the roof.
You are more intelligent, more capable, more beautiful, and much more worthy than he ever wants you to realize you are. Isolation makes it hard to break the spell. Just wait for an open door and TAKE IT. Take your chance no hesitation, lay low, give it time, and *don’t look back.*
    You can do this!

My heart goes out to these ladies and everyone affected...I worked on a job that did surveys for abused women and the first question we asked was has a man ever verbally disrespected you in public....any woman that answered yes would always end up answering yes to the questions about being physically abused..it woke me up and help me leave my situation...they dont get better over time ...no matter how much they say they changed...never go back...I have ten stitches from a stab wound to remind me....Love yourself!!

I was in a somewhat situation like this when I was younger with older children's father... For two years, he thought he was my father, yelling and pushing me at will. One day I had enough, we squared up, because one of my child was involved. That was the last day I would ever let a man even think he could cross the line. We parted ways, and he died years later. I moved on a got with my now spouse, and we've been together for nearly 29 years. I established it early: I have one father, if he didn't hit you will not either.... I don't have a problem with 3 hots and a cot, if you don't... My mom will raise my children, and your mom will be putting roses on your grave.... We had a little altercation early on in our relationship, I was pushed, and he was introduced to 'sting'. We never had a problem after that.. don't touch me if you don't want to be touch back.

My parents didn't let me date. They warned me about bums. So when I got older, I steered clear of no-good bums. Young women, I issue you a warning. Stop associating with people who will take your life. God doesn't let you walk into these situations without giving you a warning. If you walk with God and pay attention, you will know when someone has evil intentions toward you or others. It's a Spirit of Death operating through that person to bring destruction. Don't become intimate with those kinds of people. Get away from that person ASAP. Wait on God to bring you together with the right kind of person. God can take care of your bills. RIP. Praying for God's comforting for this family.

I was never physically beaten but my self esteem took a pretty huge hit and my confidence was shattered from emotional and verbal abuse.. It had become so bad at one point I started thinking if he didn’t react in that familiar manner of abuse that he had stopped caring until I realized I had some things mentally broken within and needed some therapy.. I then realized it was time to fight hard to free me from myself and who I had allowed myself to become.. I still struggle sometimes with certain things but I know that as humans we all struggle with something from time to time regardless of what it may be so I am no different but my processing skills have become different.. Now I see me before I see anyone else when folks start acting like their presence is a blessing to me.. You all take care and be safe out here.. Seek help and even relocate to a new state if you have to when you find yourselves in these situations. Your kids and your loved ones need you here with them🙏🏽

He got a year in prison when he should’ve gotten 10-15 years for attempted murder. It’s not worth it ladies. You owe it to yourself and your children to protect yourself and them. Others try and get an interview hours after a tragedy and ask questions like “What u gonna miss about this person” or “how u feel right now” smfh I truly applaud u it’s not easy at all.

I was in an abusive relationship. I almost died myself. The man one day, will never forget, was holding me borderline hostage in my huge walk-in closet. So I was trying to leave and he kept grabbing all on me, yanking me, etc. So I had enough and I pushed him off of me..that's when he grabbed my head and slammed it into the wall. My legs went numb, and my eyes were wide open but I couldn't see! Now what really scares me about the situation is...right where my head was slammed, right next to that spot was a nail sticking straight out! I could have died! Smh thinking about this scares me till this day smh
