Damon has mentioned that he rewrote the lyrics of few of the "Song Machine" songs to reflect the new reality of the world once covid-19 and the lockdown hit.
He never said which ones were specifically the rewritten ones, but this has GOT to be one of them because I see "isolation," "lockdown," "loneliness," and "sadness" vibes throughout this tune.

Here’s what I’d recommend if you’re interested in catching up: Listen to all of Humanz up until “Sex Murder Party,” after that the quality of the album severely drops off, however everything before that is very strong. The Now Now basically has Tranz and Humility if you’re feeling it, but the rest of it is pretty mediocre. And then, all of the Song Machine Songs have been pretty good, I’d listen to all of them.
Master of Disguise I recommend ignoring everything this guy said and listening to all of it to form your own opinions

I've listened to gorillaz since I was little, my love for gorillaz started with my sister, and it makes me so happy to see they are still one of the greatest. I've never hated any of their music, all their songs are amazing each and every time

Man I memorized this jam and relate to every damn word when I sing it just to myself.
I'm not sure any band has tapped into the cornucopia of simplicity and yet complexity that comes with things like semi-managable addiction and personality strangeness all wrapped up in one nonchalant package.
To me this piece just really hits home as the loneliness of knowing you're complex but simple to the rare person who can read your complexity and understand you at the root, and losing that means you go back to what is percieced as a foreign langauge to everyone else and fall gracefully fall back into the lofty and jagged pillows of vices to lead on an existence that at least exists. You wish you'd even care enough to care that people look down on it but you know it's cope or lose it all.
That special one may just be a vice too, but they duet for you to sing that happy song and give you a while of ecstacy on that even tide you needed to pull yourself up.
Hell. I've got tears. Love you all no matter who you are.
