While in the army at Ft Benning GA Bill Kazmaier came to Ft Benning and gave a power lifting seminar before my power lifting meet . I won best over all lifter in my weight class , best dead lift and won my weight class in the novice division. Bill Kazmaier was there at the end to give me my medals 🏅 and trophies 🏆 and wow 🤩 what an honor it was to receive that from him and a handshake 🤝 as well. Will never forget how gigantic and big he was . That was back in 1990 and he was still in amazing shape . His arms were 24 inches at the time .

I get the impression that stars from the past (who are today in their 50's or 60's) have much deeper, more interesting personality that all the youngsters. What they did and sometimes are still doing seem to have much deeper meaning than just beeing a "star" and "making lots of money". Today's world seems much flatter, more artificial, today's heroes have much shallower personalities. This pertains not only to sports. I have great respect for heroes from the past - they can talk in an engaging and interesting way, they do not boast about themselves, strong bodies are accompanied by great mind. Thank you John for this interview. All the best from Poland

Back in the day I worked out at kazs' gym and one day I walk in and kaz is deadlifting what looks like 315 he did around 10 more reps after I walked in. He was kind of straining at the end and I thought world's strongest man my ass, I walked over and looked he was repping 650 not 315 lol

I worked out at Kaz's gym back in the late 80' - 90's. First day there Kaz was squating 850 for sets of 3. He would do roman chair situps with 3 one hundred pounds plates on his chest. One day he was rearranging some gym equipment and proceeded to pick up a whole peck deck machine a carry it to the other side of the gym. Also, one time he had about 430 on the bench press. i was curious wondering how many reps he would do, I lost count he was doing so many and so fast. I used to love going to that gym, it was so raw and hard core.

After a bunch of years of just half-assing it, the switch flipped in Feb of this year and I got back to work. I also started getting back into re-learning the world of weights, now online, and, as Kaz said, I really do feel lucky that you are doing what you are doing John. Your temperament, experience and knowledge have re-lit my passion for training and I just want to say thank you. Hopefully I can say thanks in person if I run into you at the Arnold in Feb.
