    I particularly like your projects with gears and various metal whatnots with that rusty patina. i like how all the elements came together. This has got me looking at wrenches in a new way. Now, what can I do with screwdrivers lol.

    This looks fabulous. I like the way it goes from Blah (said with love-all black) to WOW! just with the addition of another colour or two. The composition and found objects are great, too. Now I'm off to watch Linda's video. Thanks for sharing x

    Catching up with some of your older videos this week Mike and I have to say this piece is incredible and very inspiring. I'm attending a workshop where we will be making a mixed media piece and this has given me plenty of ideas to kickstart my grey cells in to thinking about what sort of things I might like to attach to my piece. Creative Blessings.

    Just watched yours and Linda's. Loved them both. It was interesting to see that you chose the FELLA tools and Linda chose the Lady tools. But as artists, there was no gender. Except for the challenge which was the choice of tools, your techniques were certainly different. I took a break from watching the videos, and my mind took off thinking of all the different professions and the tools that they use. Doctors, dentists, plumbers and on and on. You could wind up having a wall full of frames!! If that is not isnspration, I don't know what is. Have a happy upcoming year in 2018 and look forward to seeing more of your videos

    Mike, great project! Hey, I stumbled on a place you might want to visit for some inspiration that you might like for your new helmet project. The Royal Amoury Museum in Your town, Leeds. They showed some wonderful 16th century jousting helmets and other metal pieces, that I thought you'd love. Saw it on the Travel Channel here in the US. Cheers!

    Hi Mike, I like it so much that I will try to make something similar as my first ever mix media project. I plan to use a scissors and I'd like to ask you if the gel medium is strong enough to hold into place the metallic pieces that have certain ammount of weight or if you reccomend me to use something else instead. Thank you for sharing this project and inspire me. Big hug! Madalina

    Yay, steampunky. Great project Mike. I followed everything you did but the close up shots show a dusty-gritty-type surface. Is that effect achieved purely with the paint combinations you have used and the way you applied them? xx

  • @susanrascone2098

    Very nice Mike. I don't know all the various mediums and was wondering why you used black gesso instead of paint.

    • @MikeDeakinArt
      @MikeDeakinArt  7 лет назад

      The gesso gives the rusty paint more of a tooth to grab on to. Normal acrylic may not have covered quite so well on the poly resin frame. XO
