youtube recommed this channel for me out of nowhere and i pressed on a video by mistake 10 videos later: i dont regret my mistake you have great content . keep it up .
I love the way you review the features of the unit. You truly cover most of it if not all the things one should know about the performance, functionalities, and features. Two thumbs up!!!
I just wanted to say thank you so much for straight to the point, comprehensive, and excellent reviews for these laptops :) I only recently discovered your channel searching for a laptop replacement, and I really hope your channel grows as your production quality and content is consistently great!
I love your unbiased review on what is the XPS 13 capable of. I own both XPS 13’ 2017 with touch screen and MacBook Pro 13 2018. Both of them are great laptop and it depends on what you are going to do with the setup and what software you are going to use. As I cannot have two setup for my workload productivity, I leave my XPS 13 to my wife and she is loving it.
hackatak If you haven’t been living under a rock you probably should have heard lots of news about Ryzen CPUs in desktops for the past 4 years, and now they are starting to do the same for laptops.
@@stupididiot2199 Oh I keep up, but for some reason AMD just always seem to disappoint. I have built numerous PC's over the years with them and was never impressed for the 100.00 I saved for the heat they generated. I have yet to see an AMD chip that can stay cool in a laptop, I would be curious to see if they can do it. Intel has done better here, but IMO, they still have work to do, heat kills electronics and battery. Multi-core desktop for AMD dont translate to a portable platform, multicore from intel still works for the masses and can still get pretty good battery life, hence why I doubt we will see AMD in this arena anytime soon!
If you don't want to game or need tons of power, this is honestly the best option in the market for work / university. I just bought an asus a15 because I needed more performance and I had a tighter budget, but if not I would have gone for something like this
Just bought the mid range one I guess. I7 cpu, 16 gb ram, 512 ssd $1452. What external gpu do you recommend? I don’t play many computer games these days but wouldn’t mind running a couple on this laptop.
I have now received the laptop and damn it looks gorgeous! Forgive me Lord as I have sinned and could not resist such beauty regardless of its flaws. Be warned though, that after seeing this laptop all other laptops will look mediocre at best. The new XPS 13 has truly raised the bar when it comes to looks and quality. Most importantly, I was deeply concerned with the heating issues some reviewers spoke about. However, I can confirm that after I changed the setting to cool through the Dell Power Manager the difference is very noticeable. In fact, I am currently typing this comment while the laptop is on my lap. The 16:10 aspect ratio is perfect because it's a great balance between consuming video and productivity. The 3:2 aspect ratio Microsoft uses is too much for me and makes the experience of watching movies look out of date. In any case, if bad things start to appear I promise to leave an update. Thanks.
I like the design of the Dell XPS 13 as well as how thin it is. It need some improvement but this laptop is perfect for a business people who travel a lot! Very nice review about this laptop! Nice Job! #Dell #XPS13
Really great and detailed review, only one thing I wish I had seen is the SSD speeds for the unit you have, something I'm used to seeing in laptop reviews that is oddly missing
Hm, that graph should have been in there. It's really not impressive at 241MB/s avg in PC Mark 8 (good balance of benchmarks to put SSDs in perspective). Not sure if they're keeping it limited for thermals, or they're just cheaping out. Considering the rest, likely the first.
No this is very different. A high end nvme would usually score in the 500 to 700 MB/s range. Cheap sata options would score less than 200 here. It's still not high though. There are some graphs in my other laptop reviews that show more on this.
Again a nice video Nada and Stephen Lots of love for you guys from me and advance congratulations for the way towards 100K subs . Keep it up . Love you TECHTESTERS.
There are two versions of the XPS 13 9300, one with 8GB RAM and Intel UHD graphics and the other with 16GB RAM, touch screen and the Intel Iris Plus. But the later is wayyy more expensive.
Hi there.. are the speakers better than previous XPS 13 models if you ever had one? They may be louder now but i notice they're now bottom facing so doesn't that make the sound quality more dull with less high frequencies. On previous models speakers where on both sides so more "open" if you understand what i mean.
Didn't have an old XPS 13 here at the same time to compare 1:1, but I don't remember the old XPS 13 sounding as good as these. Not just in volume (don't really care), but in terms of subjective quality. Might be wrong though, its been a while.
Hi Nada, great review! I have a doubt though, In your keyboard section, while typing your screen is moving a lot. Is it happening that much, or was the effect accentuated by the camera angle?
Probably the angle and the fact I'm not really in a comfy typing position when making a shot, so I'm probably moving the desk as well :p build quality really isn't a concern :)
Is there a difference in battery life between the non touch display and the 1920x1200 touchscreen display? Or does touchscreen not affect battery life? Great video btw
Agreed. I have been waiting for 2 year to replace my zenbook u301 ultrabook and when I saw the new Dell, I was like that's the one... But when I saw the new AMD CPUs and their battery performance, I paused to see what OEMs will do with it in the thin and light form factor.
Next laptop for me will be Ryzen. Zen 3? Plus I think 16 gig of Ram should be new standard. My current laptop only has 4 gigs with an 8 series mobile CPU from Intel. The only things I can do, to solve its slow speed is to put an SSD in and see if I can increase my RAM.
Will you review XPS 17/Surface Book 3? Also is there any high quality laptops coming out this year with AMD Ryzen 4000 CPU? All the AMD CPU laptops seems to be gaming laptops.
@@TechTesters ow thats unfortunate, so I am planning on buying this xps 13 9300 with an i5 8gbs ram and 512ssd for €1200 with a business account and a discount on top of that, I will be using it for college(software engineer) but I also wanna do some gaming when im at home after school. Could you recommend like any powerful laptop(1080p gaming) that is also portable and maybe has a high refresh rate screen and an aluminium unibody(under 2 kgs)? Under €1300 would be great
If it can get more than 500nits based on some settings I don’t think it’s misinformation for marketing it as capable of over 500nits. I really don’t get what you’re arguing about with respect to that.
There is a difference between "wrong" marketing and "slightly misleading" marketing. This isn't about them being "wrong" in a super strict sense, this is about actual users expecting a 500 nits display in regular use compared to alternatives, and not seeing that in normal use. Most buyers will simply never see those 500 nits. I am 100% behind calling that out. If Dell adds a little footnote on their marketing claims, clarifying 500 nits is for HDR mode only, I would also be OK with that.
