Just to stop the speculating, I get some depression but nothing so severe that I can't function. I'm on medication for anxiety which has been helping a lot. I used to kind of get stuck in nervous "flight or flight" modes, sometimes for no good reason. Finally going to a doctor about it (after putting it off for years) was one of the best things I ever did. Anyways I’m well, this video isn’t about me, but about all of us :)

Why is this not commercial for suicide prevention. It’s better than any of them combined and it really brought the issue at hand to the eyes of many people and informed more about depression than anyone has ever tried to explain it.

WOW. I honestly never thought I would hear something so deep so important and so honest and meaningful come from you like that. Well I enjoy everything you do I will be honest I have missed judge you greatly. And for that I really am sorry. I do know some people who have gone through extreme depression.... Myself included. I had been through it for five to nearly 6 years, people ask me what is and I have to be depressed about? I have a lot honestly I went numb for a long time and for many in fact every single day for several years I kept on having very terrible thoughts about doing the unthinkable. To bought myself and two people who made me angry and cause me pain. I managed to resist all this and I just held on because I knew there was something for me that was better. As of June 13th which is very soon will make 3 years that I have found that very special something to help me go on. My girlfriend she pulled me out of it somehow gave my life new meaning as in a lot of the people I meant around that time in my life. I'm going to add this episode into my watch list and if any of my other friends who I knew or know is going through something like this I will be sure to recommend this episode to them and a few other things. I want to do my part to help people out as much as I can. And I honestly do thank you for showing this to people I think a lot of people nowadays really need it. I am someone who likes to joke around a lot and I like to wear smile and act like there's nothing going on or going wrong in my life. And as you can tell him everything I said you know that's very far from truth. Again I am sorry for grossly Miss judging you and I greatly thank you for sharing this video. I hope you have a very wonderful day and God bless you.

As someone who's been down that road more than once, and considered, and a few time come very close, to suicide, it's nice to hear someone explain it in a way that helps others see just why it's so monstrous a problem.
    Thank you.

i don’t know why, but hearing all this come from megalon made it so much more impactful, which sounds stupid, really. i’m not going through anything too rough right now, but i’ll remember this video a lot more than others if i ever feel like this. maybe it’s because i’m so attached to kaiju that it helps more than coming from a blank-faced psa actor. i honestly think that psas should do this more, have characters from franchises, especially childhood franchises, talking about these things. i think it sticks a lot better than any other psa method out there.
i think this video will help a lot of people out there, and i commend you for making it. you’re a great guy with a great personality and heart. never change, mib, never change.

One of the things ive found in my life which some may find silly, is that whenever im feeling down I often find the Godzilla franchise coming to my rescue, when I was young I used to always cheer in joy when I got to go to the KB toys store and see the godzilla stuff that none of the other stores carried, when one summer I was forced to live with some people I really didnt belong with, I found the animated godzilla series and watched it on youtube to pass the time and try to stay sane. When my grandmother was sick and dying I would stay by her bedside to keep her company and I read the IDW godzilla comics. When I got into trouble with the law and didnt know what was going to happen to me my one shining light was the new godzilla king of the monsters film coming out that year. Throughout my entire life no matter what issues or struggles I have had to face I find myself lucky to have had an outlet to turn to. But I know so many people have troubles finding those kinds of outlets or those little rays of hope. The best thing we can do for anyone out there we see struggle is try to be one of those rays of hope for them. And try to guide them to something they can find joy in.

I've never suffered from depression, I'll get sad know and than but never to a point that it's hurt me, my family and friends. I have a best friend names Desi who's been going through this even tried to take his life a good number of times... it breaks my heart because he's like a brother to me. Thankfully He's doing fine now, though I haven't been in contact with him, "some friend/brother I am". I think its good to have a conversation with someone you love or hate to help them, it may seem a little to them it's a lot, and yes medication defiantly is a must, just please don't overdose. Hope this helps.

damn, that was deep, i have depression but i've never tought about ending my life, i think about the people that care about me, and the people that i love, it's not worth taking your life, if someone say's that suicide victims are cowards then you clearly don't know anything, because you have to have a lot of guts and be very brave to take that decision, making the decision to change and ask for help is a really smart and brave thing to do, and anyone that has depression should get help and not be scared of asking

I have gone through heartbreak, betrayal and multiple crises of faith. It doesn't help that I have seasonal effective disorder and struggle with OCD. When I hear how bad people with depression have it, I can't help but feel ashamed of myself when people have actual problems that are even less in their control. I should be more grateful.

    • @MonsterIslandBuddies
      @MonsterIslandBuddies  6 лет назад

I get that. For a long time, I refused to look into my own issues simply because I knew others had it worse than me. Since my low mood wasn’t crippling, I felt like I’d be dishonoring people with REAL issues if I looked into my own. I’m glad I stopped thinking that way, but at the time it was a mental wall I couldn’t break through.

I know exactly how you feel. I have emotional feelings and I’m usually more expressive than others.
The fact that I was gifted with all these talents I have, I believe God balanced my advantages with disadvantages. And I’m always very crazy with my friends, having ADHD can freak me out, which explains why my friends don’t treat me how I expect them, because I don’t notice my weird actions. I cry a lot and the fact that my family fights a lot and goes through stressful experiences, makes everyone bummed out and sad sometimes in my family. (Especially the kids). In 2015-16 I suffered 3 horrible losses in my family: My Grandpa-Great Grandma-And my other great Grandma. This “Not-crying-But-incredibly-sad” process lead to points of my life that would gradually lead to my Depression in 2017. And remember, I’m over emotional, so I also had to do deal with close-bond people leaving me. My therapist, and my Student Teacher. After I lost my School-Psychiatrist, Gym Teacher, and librarian leaving my school. Then had to deal with losing one of my favorite teachers next. Sometimes, at the most random encounters, I would feel this incredible pain I’ve never experienced in my long life before. Depression hit me hard. Sometimes on my bed, at a Baseball game, watching RUclips, I would start getting this MEGA hopeless feeling of death. Sometimes, I would actually have a bit 2-second experience of if I should commit suicide so I don’t have to suffer anymore, nor I have to do deal with life so I don’t feel more sad later and not want to die more and stuff. But before that, traveling back to 2nd grade, I also feared the “Sun exploding-end of the world” thing. It was approved by scientists so I feared it more. The worser thing is that I ignored the idea of telling a family member about this-until 2 years later. I was so sick and tired of this depression that I started talking to my mother of my troubles. Soon, my Grandma joined in the comfort circle. Helping me temporarily, but it couldn’t stop the wonders of the end of the world.
And still, the crazy Anger issues-ADHD also teamed up on me and almost teared me apart. But I wouldn’t give up. I knew there was a good answer since these fearful topics were very controversial. But the best I could find will soon end up like the others, for at least the world to end. I started getting more brave and decided to ask my therapist for help. My Helpers soon gave me an Anti-Depression. But still, *cough* the emotional thing... I would soon experience on of my friends mother to die, and also- GUESS WHO’S BACK? THE GOD DAMN END OF THE WORLD-FEAR OF DEATH BS!
Yeah all I could say is that I would “-almost-“ everyday, have a breakdown. (Almost have.)
Then I had to deal with leaving my school, doing the end of the year reflection for my class, which everyone, (was actually) really impressed of my writing. They said I deserved it, some of my favorite teachers cried, basically everyone I came across said “IT WAS SO GOOD!” And yeah. To this day, I still have depression-Anxiety-and Anger/ADHD issues. But nothing, can mentally break me apart.
    I said mentally.
This was just a micro story of my depression and Anger and Anxiety issues. Hope MIB recognizes my understanding of him, and my story. Thank you guys.
So if any of you have these same troubles, don’t worry, there’s many people like you suffering-maybe even more than you, we all suffer with each other, but not one of us, breaks apart.

I suffer from depression sometimes as I feel like my life has always been shitty, My dad abused me as a kid, my mum has a potential fatal disease, people often bully me for being different and I’m never allowed to say my own thoughts as people always say they’re stupid or they don’t listen at all. I also have anger issues which makes things even worse I hate keeping in all that anger and when I let it out I often cause harm to people I care about so I sometimes think about ending it to make sure no one else gets hurt. Even the police came at one point because of my anger and frustration. I hate my new high school, there’s this stupid girl who won’t stop bothering me and every time I go there I feel even worse. I have spoken to people before and they usaully help but usually I still feel pretty bad. Even my mum thinks most of my thoughts are wrong.Anyways I should probably stop writing about my life and I should be thanking you so thanks for supporting all the people like me out there.

I wasn't expecting an actual discussion on depression and suicide. I'm glad to see so many thoughtful comments as well.P.S. I want to write more but can't find the words. I suppose let's end on a Godzilla reference, "So long as breath comes from my mouth, I may yet stand the slightest chance. A shaft of light is all I need to cease the darkness killing me."

That was nicely written and I also get depressed to the point where I don't move. Everything is fine, I just wish my megalon figure would talk.

I have a friend who is depressed. He told me that he was having these suicidal thoughts. I told him that I would always be there for him if he needed to talk to me. I'm glad to watch this video and so should everyone else. I would not wanted to lose my buddy that would be devastating for his friends and family.

I had a severe case of depression last year (it was my final year)... suicide levels if you will, I was bullied for so many years at my New Zealand shitty-ass primary school being thought as an outcast because of my american accent, being called fat (I'm not), left out and ganged up on by backstabbers I thought I could call friends. I'm still trying to get out of my depression now, but after seeing this I have hope. And Thankful I have you, You've made me Laugh for so long dude, I owe you one.

I fucking hate how many stories of depression are tied to bullying. I despise that some jackass was insecure, and now you have to pay the price. You can beat this, brother.

you should have an episode were Megalon spreads awareness of depression. However not many monsters follow his cause. So he becomes depressed and even attempts to take his own life. Luckily enough people herd his awareness and save his life. Together they help Megalon become much happier.
