I know why the cage bird sings is a phenomenon book, it was a college book for my
older brother but all 8 of us had to read it and write a book report on it. My father was
a very highly intelligent man and he said knowledge is power, it’s something no one can
ever take away from you. We had one room that the whole wall was a bookcase and
for generations everyone has read those books and wrote book reports for my mother
to read. 3 generations have been educated from what was in our home..

If memory serves me right, this is accurate, she went through a very bad breakup during her time here in Bmore. It led to her having a bit of a breakdown and caused her Alopecia. I never knew the guys name, but I knew it went down. Thanks, for sharing that puzzle piece.

Hello folks- she was in 'the club' as they say b/c of all she did and all she was allowed to do on a mainstream stage. No one else ever got to be famous for their poetry! Poetry never is celebrated in our culture but w/ MA, it suddenly became a thing and she was known as the queen of it.
How does that happen unless you sell a piece of yourself to the powers that be? Today it's a bit diff as you can make yourself famous w/ all the diff Internet platforms and maintain your independence if you choose to but w/ her, she had to do things to be a part of that kind of social circle. Think about it kiddos! This doesn't make her any less talented or celebrated but it is a case of reality that needs to be embraced instead of how everyone still tends to think about how all this shakes out in the long run. How can we still be this naive?

Hold up! I can be wrong, and it wouldn't be the first and most likely won't be the last. But what many who divide themselves from the human race by pointing out and stressing out that they are of a separate race other than the human race is how they continue to help the divide. This is just food for thought because I am personally, tired of the moaning. Here's the thing. Playing the race hasn't gotten the so-called, black race pretty far, at least not where in many eyes many of the race are concerned. Let's cut out the (BS) belief systems that the majority of us have been taught for so very long for just a moment and be willing to see life from another perspective. Ok. While it is true that raciest minds still exist be them of any race or nationality due to their own traditional (BS) it's hard to difficult to no avail to change those minds so why not try to go about it in a different way? When it comes to have a gripe dealing with raciest issues it may be best to come from a place of acknowledging humanity. Instead of continuing to separate yourself as being a race (which the word race derived to separate the human race) try coming from speaking on what you bring to the table as an individual. Speak on how and why you deserve to have and to be paid what you believe that you are. Pointing out your worth and value provides much more weight in the eyes of another human being rather than pointing out your so-called race. Some fires can't be put out with water, and some fires can't be put out with fire. The majority of like huge forest fires usually goes out on their own over a matter of time with proper observation. Racism is a learned behavior just as Self hate. Constantly pointing out how mistreated you are within a field you've chosen to be in will not help the minds of racism she you and any one coming after you as any different than they do at the time you present your case. Don't hide behind the Cloak. Just come out and say, Hey, I am asking for better treatment and better pay because I deserve it as you can see according to my life record within the industry.
