Yea you said it helps you detect fires. If you already know your building is on fire, just go outside don’t waste your time pulling a shitty lever. Or you can do what I do and make another top floor of a building and cover it with a zig zag line covering the whole floor. At the end attach it to a block with a torch on the end then a comparator touching the torch and make yourself a siren and some lights attached to the comparator.

It could also be used for like a breakable light, like flicking the lever overheats the generator causing the lights to flicker.
