  • I was not pleased at all with the nib that came with my PenBBS 456 Vacuum Filler. It was nowhere near the quality of the nibs on my two previous PenBBS fountain pens; the 308 Amber and the 308 Cedar.
    So, I took some time today to pull the fine PenBBS nib out of the 456 and replace it with a Schmidt fine point that I had previously removed from my M600 and replaced with a Moonman nib. You can see that nib swap video here:

    Glad you now have a pen you will enjoy. The ability to swap nibs is one of the things I love about fountain pens. A spot of tinkering often brings great results!

      wee john I agree! I love tinkering with stuff like this. Not all experiments are successful, but with these less expensive pens, nothing is a disaster either.

      KA Pirk Thanks! I wrote with the Schmidt nib for a month and then swapped back to the original PenBBS fine after tweaking it a bit.

      Indeed! It is always a happy moment when you can go from "Oh no!" to "That's better" in one day after a purchase.

    Initially, the F Schmidt nib in the M600 was not to my liking. A little smoothing & a lot of writing & it became OK, not great but usable. Looks like it works better in the PenBBS than in the Moonman. The Moonman #6 in the 352 continues to write well. The EF was not a nib I could like. I have the M Fuliwen in a few pens, one PenBBS & I like it. Smooth, wet & soft.

      Moonman nib in PenBBS pen. Sounds like a worthwhile pursuit.

    do pilot stainlesss steel nibs fit here? Those nibs that fit on pilot metropolitan, penmanship, prera and more.

    • @InkquiringMinds
      @InkquiringMinds  3 года назад +1

      No. Those are proprietary Pilot nibs and are a lot smaller than #6 size.

      @@InkquiringMinds thanks for the reply! Are the nibs that bad that you need to change it?

      Not at all. It was a swap experiment. The PenBBS fine nibs are awesome. I’ve swapped the Moonman nibs from two M800s and three M600s to the PenBBS fine nibs.

      Yes. Back then I was happily signing my name at the end of the videos until I was advised that it was inadvisable. LOL. So I went black and blurred them all.
