I love this story no matter what anyone says. I think people who like this movie are sensitive people who can find beauty in sorrow and pain. Like the wind blowing leaves, like flowers withering, like people dying. After being born in this world, the important thing is what you have in your heart and what you do. I want to never forget what I felt in this movie. Even if one day I die and become nothing.
Rachel Portman brings heart, and soul, and sometimes much sadness to all of the music she composes. This movie brought me to tears in so many of the scenes. I am 66 years old, and I look back on my life when I watch a movie like this. I try to see everyone that I have had a connection with. Some are gone now, but they are still with me till my end. If you are young, and watch this movie, remember that your life goes by so fast. Enjoy all of your family, and friends while you can. It can change in an instant, and then nothing can be said to them anymore.
+Charles hesse Hey Charles, Haven't seen this movie but I sure can relate about life moving fast. My mom just passed and somehow things for me have changed. Like you said some friends are gone but some are still around (not many). I now cherish my family a whole lot more than ever. Nice review I want to see this movie now. Thanks
3 years after watching this movie, it still haunts me. It's painfully beautiful, and the soundtrack gives the opportunity to feel all the emotion at the same time. It hurts, but like a scar that hides a treasure deep in my soul.
Almost 10 years since I’ve watched this film…you’re so absolutely correct it’s hauntingly beautiful. Thinking about watching it again now. It hit me SO hard and haven’t been able to watch since but the score is constantly playing in my head
Haunting is the perfect word for this movie. Hearing this music brings it all back. It’s been years since I saw it, but the impact it made is a tribute to the author, film makers and actors.
The first time you listen to it, it rushes through your heart like a quick sunrise in Summer and then you feel cold and want to feel that warmth again. So you listen to it for the second time and your heart expands. You feel as if something inside you is missing - a memory, an emotion, a feeling. Your heart twitches in discomfort as the melody plays in the background, as your eyes stare blankly at the monitor. You no longer see, you no longer listen, but you live, through this song and its beauty
There are some moments in the movie that, together with this music, make it as though unique. The acting, the story, even colours - they aren't very exceptional; we know many movies with such mood. But then, as I wrote before, there are these moments - like Kathy looking back at Tommy in school, nearly at the end of the movie. All the children were singing, looking forward, focused on the stage, but Kathy looked back. She looked at Tommy, and he was looking at her, too. And that is where this music unfurls, with that powerful tidal wave. There is something very human about this movie and music, something inexplicable.
2010 I watched this movie. This sound track still give goosebumps me. I shiver whenever I listen it. What a composition. So much pain 💔 M writing this in ending Oct 2023.
One of those rare movies that make you realize none of us can escape death and life is shorter than we realize. Value its pain and sorrow as much as you value its sweetness and joy because it's all we have and will ever be given.
I finished this book 3 days ago and keep thinking about it and that keeps bringing me to tears. Never has a book affected me like this! I ried for a good 10 minutes after finishing it and then off and on. A picture from a magazine, thrown away in a puddle, rubbish blown onto a barbed wired fence. Very powerful symbolism.
"what ı'm not sure about is if our lives have been so different from the lives of the people we save. we all complete. maybe none of us really understand what we've lived through, or feel we've had enough time."
I am deeply in love with this song. It’s like I can feel the music flowing through my bones, straight to my veins. This whole thing just blows me away and all I can do is just sit here and wait until it is passed. And I will wait.
This was an heartbreakingly beautiful movie, but you've got to read the book to understand it well. Anyhow, Rachel yet again blew us away with this score. The best after One Day.
so much heartfelt work went into this movie and soundtrack, everything is so beautiful, so sad, a woven tapestry, threaded with the saddest stories, dyed with passion, and empowered with hope and love
this movie is no word can describe it ... i had watched it over and over like hundreds times and i can't get bored from it ... the story is amazing and the actors especially " andrew " did the hole thing splendid ,,,
This movie is so beautiful and sad. That moment when tommy got out of the car and started to scream....I couldn't stop crying. Really really good movie!
Never let me go is a fantastic creation by kazuo ishiguro, i loved the book so much im doing a dissertation on it. Although the film did not meet the books standards, the cinematography was brilliant and the music is heart wrenching. I love this piece and you cant help but cry as it plays at the end of the film
You put exactly into words how I feel, it’s one of, if not, my favourite book and I love the film so much but the book cannot be beat, I feel like if you want to watch this, reading the book first makes it so much better. The book goes into such detail through and entire persons tragic life and the pacing is slow and painful which is something I think the film lacked. I felt like I’d been on this journey with them after reading the book which made it so much more impactful.
This movie is my favorite. It affected me so much. I am studyıng for my Physics exam but I can't stop thinking about Tommy,Kathy,Ruth and their heart breaking story .....
This is indeed the best soundtrack for me. It tells the whole story. It starts with a heavy feeling that signifies the ending and then it becomes lighter without changing the theme which for me is like recalling the past events (childhood days of Kathy and Tommy). Both their love and hope is clearly evident in the soundtrack when all the instruments play in harmony. And then it slowly fades into melancholy. Excellent soundtrack! It really suits the movie.
You can imagine so many scenarios when listening to this music... I'm so glad I made my friends go and see this movie with me at the cinema. This is my favourite track though; it's so haunting.
I will buy this soundtrack....hauntingly beautiful. Dont know about anyone else but the full impact of the story did not hit me until a few minutes after the movie was over and I started thinking about the story itself.Clones were treated as second class citizens, kept out of the public eye until their organ donations started. No chance of escape. The book won a writers prize for the author..heart wrenching ,thought provoking story..wonderful
@micheleatlilacsrust578 I agree. If the film did not shatter your heart, this magnificent score did. Almost too much to bear yet impossible to stop feeling how extraordinary it is.
I almost cried at this movie, I stopped it cuz my father was watching too haha. It was SO TOUCHING,.....amazing, sad, heartbreaking, The scene where Tommy got out of the car and shouted,.... breaks my heart
Honestly, i've never heard of this movie until now. I don't think it's ever been on tv here. Now that 've heard this beautiful piece I will have to sometime c:
*_I am watching this movie now for the first time. It reached minute 20 when the beautiful, calm music started. I stopped the movie and came here to search for it on RUclips. Today is 9 February , 2024._*
song of the day 23-03-2016: We stumble through life never really knowing what we've been through, never sufficiently stepping aside to collect our experience. And when we complete, no great caterwaul sounds our departure, even the best barely make out the faint thud of a dense anthology closing shut in the distance.
I have never met Rachel Portman and probably never will, but I would suggest that anyone who can create such lovely melodies must be a sweet and sensitive person, and one I would feel privileged to know. 12/10/2014
A very optimistic opinion. I happen to have met Ms Portman for a function we both belong to. Believe me, we barely resemble or appear to be what our music represents. Writing and playing music is, for want of a better description, our job. Other than that, we are what our life experiences allow us to be. Rachel is very nice when you first meet her. But having a conversation about "things" gives pause and you may...repeat...may change your opinion.
An amazing film, this song just can't escape my mind. It fills me with a sadness, happiness, and many complex emotions that I just can't help but to come back to it. AMAZING! :)
I agree. It starts out almost chaotic and then at 2:32 there's calm, as if the waves of some storm have ceased. It brings some immense closure to the score, a feeling of reassurance. Definitely the best track.
discovering this author made me feel alive at one time... Now I'm pretty much back to where I was before. This is the first work I read of him, and I think it's his best-written, tough his other work is also very good, and maybe partly more "representative" or "significant". But that is neither here nor there. It was a nice discovery anyway.
man i left this film in my deep memory many years ago, but still to this day, once every year or so i search for " soundtrack to film about giving organs, very sad" feel ashamed that i never remember the name of the film but honestly i think i black it out in my head because it really upset me so much. Absolutely beautiful piece of art that i dont want to show anyone incase they dont feel it like i do. theres only a few films on that list but i have to say this is the first. it really hurt me. Amazing film.
This song nearly made me cry (i held it back cuz i'm in public lol) just thinking of this scene in the movie. ughhh, I WEPT like a baby from this film. Sooo soo beautiful
God, even just instening to this piece of music makes me want to sob.... and after watching this I became completely enamored with with both Andrew Garfield and Carey Mulligan.
I am from Romania (Transylvania), don't know where you're from but over here we do not have the tea culture... it is not in our habit to drink tea. But listening to this some made me drink tea so I made some! :-)) :-)) Then I saw your comment and smiled...
I love this story no matter what anyone says. I think people who like this movie are sensitive people who can find beauty in sorrow and pain. @am27 What a beautiful poetic sentiment.

you touched my soul
your words with the music made me fly to magical world
Charles hesse all time i back to listening realy its so hard 😢😢
Beautifully written, but also feel blessed with the gift of life. Love your words
Charles hesse Welled up reading that. thanks. You're so right.
3 years after watching this movie, it still haunts me. It's painfully beautiful, and the soundtrack gives the opportunity to feel all the emotion at the same time. It hurts, but like a scar that hides a treasure deep in my soul.

Most beautiful score... literally get the shakes and chills. Not enough people appreciated this movie.

i couldn't agree with you more...
I completely agree with you.. It's hard to say .what factor in this movie strikes us .? it's totally different .it's a true art.
its one of my most favorite movies - can never let it go from my memories!
I felt the same way as you :) And i simply close my eyes and enjoy
Can you plz gave a move with the same mode
2010 I watched this movie.
This sound track still give goosebumps me.
I shiver whenever I listen it.
What a composition.
So much pain 💔
M writing this in ending Oct 2023.
I wish everyone here finds someone who will never let you go.
One of those rare movies that make you realize none of us can escape death and life is shorter than we realize. Value its pain and sorrow as much as you value its sweetness and joy because it's all we have and will ever be given.
we should all listen to this beautifulness every day..this music brings back our deepest emotions up..
I finished this book 3 days ago and keep thinking about it and that keeps bringing me to tears. Never has a book affected me like this! ....the book, the movie, the soundtrack are all hauntingly beautiful....... truly teardropping.
"what ı'm not sure about is if our lives have been so different from the lives of the people we save. we all complete. maybe none of us really understand what we've lived through, or feel we've had enough time."
😢🖤
My favorite moment.
💔
Heartbreaking words with music to match.
the soundtrack is so beautiful, it perfectly captures the feeling of the book of sorrow, acceptance of their fate, beauty and continuous flow of life
saddest movie/music ever.. makes you cry a lot and reflect your own existance and goals in life
I am deeply in love with this song. It’s like I can feel the music flowing through my bones, straight to my veins. This whole thing just blows me away and all I can do is just sit here and wait until it is passed. And I will wait.
This made me cry just thinking about when tommy gets out of the car and starts crying and screaming :'(
HaiYoGG That's my favorite scene of all the movies that I have watched and at the same time the saddest one
That scene always gets me 😢
a strange scene.. hopelessness, sadness and frustration
Arguably, one of the most dramatic scores ever composed...
This was an heartbreakingly beautiful movie, but you've got to read the book to understand it well. Anyhow, Rachel yet again blew us away with this score. The best after One Day.
I just finished the book and I am sobbing
so much heartfelt work went into this movie and soundtrack, everything is so beautiful, so sad, a woven tapestry, threaded with the saddest stories, dyed with passion, and empowered with hope and love
Has to be the saddest, most moving cello I've ever heard in a piece.
Such powerful, sad and delicate music. Perfect with the movie.
this movie is no word can describe it ... i had watched it over and over like hundreds times and i can't get bored from it ... the story is amazing and the actors especially " andrew " did the hole thing splendid ,,,
Probably the most underrated movie of last year. The books is amazing too!
This movie is so beautiful and sad. That moment when tommy got out of the car and started to scream....I couldn't stop crying.
Really really good movie!
So pure, so beautiful, love it!

One of the best piece of music I've ever listened
I can't even listen to this, I get to emotional. Fantastic masterpiece, both the movie and the music.
Gorgeous piece
This movie is my favorite. It affected me so much. I am studyıng for my Physics exam but I can't stop thinking about Tommy,Kathy,Ruth and their heart breaking story .....

Beautiful soundtrack, movie and message -- We all Complete.
My favorite film, favorite actress Carey Mulligan and favorite soundtrack. What a great combination.
Rachel Portman is such a great composer :)
lez be honest, through music, Rachel Portman makes my heart ache in the most enchanting way possible.
We all do what's expected of us.
Jafafa Hots o
This is much more than i can handle. Yet i always find myself coming back to it. Why? 😭😭😭😭
Thought "atonement" was sad till I watched never let me go, it's the saddest movie anyone could watch.
You can imagine so many scenarios when listening to this music... I'm so glad I made my friends go and see this movie with me at the cinema. This is my favourite track though; it's so haunting.

A beautiful scene and piece of music. Great film.
I will buy this soundtrack....hauntingly beautiful. Almost 10 years and still the best soundtrack 6/11/2022
I wept continuously for several hours after i watched this... the music just sets me off again.
@1:34 & 4:11 My heart aches I can hardly breath. This music is so hauntingly beautiful it physically hurts to listen to it. But I cannot stop.
@micheleatlilacsrust578 I agree. If the film did not shatter your heart, this magnificent score did. Almost too much to bear yet impossible to stop feeling how extraordinary it is.
Remembering the friend I so loved and lost today seemed very appropriate to hear a heartbreaking song .
Music like this just takes me away to a whole different place. Why can't more people nowadays love it the way we all do ?
Definitely one of the best movies I have ever seen
Just one word: goosebumps.
I almost cried at this movie, I stopped it cuz my father was watching too haha.
It was SO TOUCHING,.....amazing, sad, heartbreaking, The scene where Tommy got out of the car and shouted,.... breaks my heart
Great movie and an awesome soundtrack!
Honestly, i've never heard of this movie until now. I don't think it's ever been on tv here. Now that 've heard this beautiful piece I will have to sometime c:

the truly message of the film - WE ALL COMPLETE
song of the day 23-03-2016: We stumble through life never really knowing what we've been through, never sufficiently stepping aside to collect our experience. And when we complete, no great caterwaul sounds our departure, even the best barely make out the faint thud of a dense anthology closing shut in the distance.
Blue Ribbon Manor Beautifully Said!
07/12/2019: need to complete this calculus exam...

Vic Glazer
Interesting. Sounds much like actors; one should not confuse the performer w/ the role. Thank you for your reply!
Oh, it's so beautiful...
An amazing film, this song just can't escape my mind. It fills me with a sadness, happiness, and many complex emotions that I just can't help but to come back to it. AMAZING! :)
Just got book. Time for this to go on repeat
esta película me causo un dolor en el corazón horrible y cada vez que escuchó esta magnífica canción revivo ese sentimiento
Everytime I (re)see the movie I cannot think of anything else for a couple of weeks.

Great movie. I cried at the end. I too will someday complete.
*This score is heartbreaking just like the movie*
the movie and the soundtrack are great
Even the music is making me cry let alone the story
The story is even more powerful if you don't take it literally.
brilliant, beautiful, moving
I cried even more when I've been thinking about the movie.
This song nearly made me cry (i held it back cuz i'm in public lol) just thinking of this scene in the movie. ughhh, I WEPT like a baby from this film.
Sooo soo beautiful
beautiful music...
Snow ❄️
i was SO relieved when I'd discovered it was NOT based on real events.
It kind off is....
i watched it 4 times and i'm going to watch it again
Beautiful... I like this movie very much...
+1
I'm not crying, you're crying
*sniffs* :(
A diving in beauty!
God, even just instening to this piece of music makes me want to sob.... and after watching this I became completely enamored with with both Andrew Garfield and Carey Mulligan.

If only I could express what I feel right now...
Makes me think, and i realize that we are not alone not matter what problems life can bring there is always hope.

Omg. Helt fantastiskt soundtrack.
I haven't watched the movie but love Rachel Portman's music: "The duchess", for
instance, is so lovely and touching. Very similar to this...
Her music in the duchess is what brought me here.
amazing and beautiful sound track..
😢😢😢😢 crying ...i love the movie . NEVER LET ME GO for ever
This movie is just amazing ! ♥♥
