Haven’t tested them head to head, I have only had my apple watch for ten days. My only surviving gw60 isn’t watertight any more so it has to be packed before going out.
Kasper, great video again. But I would like to know more about the length of the extension you (should) use: As short as possible or can it be 50cm? It also seems that you are not brand-rigid but use various brands: why?
Thanks For slalom I use the duotone in 28 and 42, I use what fits the sail, if the 28 is long enough I go with that one, as it’s a bit lighter and therefore a bit faster. I try to find the sweetspot of price and quality as I like to have some spare extensions with me, so failure doesn’t ruin a session. I also have extra masts, because there are made production runs two times a year and Avanti doesn’t have the biggest warehouse, so sometimes things are sold out and you have to wait, I am no good at waiting for spare parts during the season. I buy what I think is innovative, so in waves I use starboard and simmer boards, for freestyle fanatic, for slalom AV, for speed simmer and Exocet, for foil F2 formula, but have an AV foil race board in order. With sails I only have Avanti as the membrane technology is just the best, but I have a Loftsails speedblade 5,1, as Avanti doesn’t make that small race/speed sails
Marlow Formuline 3.8mm definitely worth the money. Other manufacturers have braided dyneema ropes as well, but haven't tried those yet as the Formuline just lasts so long (none of mine ripped so far). Did you use Patrik before switching to AV? Saw an Avanti/Patrik rider in Hvide Sande (I think the day before WATERZ 2020 in September?) who was smoking everyone.
I used Patrik and Avanti in 2019, 2020 it has been Anders Boje, he is semi world cupper and I can’t beat him on the small gear, but on the big gear the speed is similar
Hello Kasper. I see you use Duotone extension with Avanti sails. It's ok if you've find your measure, but 2 cm setting on a Duotone extension sometimes is not the same as the 2 cm setting on another brand extension, say Severne or NeilPryde. That way, if you are not using the extension from the same brand as the sail is, you really cannot know what 478 luff really means....
Avanti doesn’t make an extension yet, the difference on severe and duotone is pretty big. Sometimes the print on sails is way off. My 7,0 says 42 or 40 and I sail 36cm on the duotone
