That first goal by Son was really smart. Pickford pushed the ball to the left thinking he'd have enough time to kick it out based on the pace at which Son was pressing. But Son then accelerated as soon as Pickford pushed it left. If he had accelerated before that then Pickford wouldve just kicked it out right away.
Micky's run of 80 yards was poetry in motion. Then top it off with that pass to Son who fired past the England keeper . ( Btw,he had a shocker today). Coys!
Oderbert is a winger that runs at players with ball at feet and can go to the by line or inside, he knows how to hold it up. Johnson cant do that, he kicks and chases or runs onto balls behind. Both different types of wingers.

I think we need to give Ange credit in how he uses his players. Last season he had a very thin squad and his player selection reflected the need to keep enough players on field and competitive. Now he has options I think we will see him change things up and try different combinations. He has to balance all the cups and Europe. I think we will see the whole squad cycled through games and not just the best performers.
Son needs a licence to be himself. A lion in a cage is different from a lion in the high plains. Ange needs to figure out how to work this out. Maybe Udogie needs to work into that space to allow Son to get more central.

i have to admit. sons speed change by the goalie on his second goal was amazing. he ran towards the goalie and as soon as the keeper turned his sight of vision as he was redirecting his first touch, sonny put it into high gear as soon as their keeper turned his head...the keeper did not think sonny would reach him in time as did i seeing the distance between them but sonny has that quick start high gear.
Good result clearly and great to see Odobert do so well on his debut - we need to improve on a few things though -> we've had 25 corners in our first 2 League games and scored one goal from them - so I think we can do better here. Also at the end of the first half when Everton were throwing in the corners we looked a bit at 6's and 7's dealig with them , we really need to get this sorted ASAP. Also we seemed to drop of in intensity and fluidity in the first 20 minutes of the 2 nd half as we did in Leicester - not sure what this happens. But other than finessing these things , it was a very good performance and a great day......................COYS !
United conceeded a similar back poster today. It sort of makes sense as play drifts towards one side's pressure, that moves would quite often end this way; wonder how many of these there are every weekend and it may be partly the structure of the game right now with the advanced wing backs etc that that's where the space is, as the WBs struggle to cover their defensive areas and aren't very defensively minded often. We still need to defend better, keep concentration, be better off the ball, but yeah. COYS

One of the biggest reason Odobert struggled was because both Maddison and Son came out and vacated his space faaaaaaaaaar too often. At times there were even 4 players of ours out there. I also object to Maddison being brilliant, he was sooooo slow to do anything when he got the ball. If he's supposed to be the main man maybe actually start playing on the front foot a bit more often? He uses way too many touches as well in situations where we could do serious damage. And his finishing was pisspoor. After what people said about Solanke's finishes last match I guess there's a courtroom waiting for him tonight? I personally give him a 6 and I am being nice. Those 3 misses were bad and hence higher than 6 will never be viable.
