Finally a video explaining exactly what I needed to know and the perfect type replacement hose connector!! Thanks for the video and showing step by step instructions! U have no idea how many terrible videos people make and just wasted time!
@@MirandaDetailingJust watching this video - well made! Gotta ask…now that the video is 4 years old, how long did the hose replacement part last? Thanks again for a great video
Thank you for your appreciation. First, I must say that listening to your voice makes me feel that this guy has a great attitude in life and that your heart is in the right place because you sincerely wish to help people out by making this video. I have used these fittings before and they are extremely hard to get it right, on a thicker rubber hose like the one you have here because they are being extremely squeezed. It is far better to not screw the screw in all the way when it comes to the point of pushing out the hose. Look, I am sure you have given it some thought about why this has happened (I am referring to the damage done to the hose) What has happened is where we see that tear a considerable amount around the hose, if you could bisect that brass fitting you would see that all that outside layer of rubber has been completely peeled off the entire area of the hose all the way to the end, that connection has been completely compromised, only the inside ribs of the fitting are holding the area that has been damage the outside ribs of the fitting are not holding anything it has been peeled off. For these thicker hoses the only way possible to be able to screw it all the way in and it is still quite difficult but it must be put in a vise and as the joint is being tightened it must be watched very carefully and once and if when seeing the hose is just starting to squeeze out go NO further. Hope this helps.
Hi. Thanks so much! Yeah very good points! It’s not a perfect fix, but I’ve had it on here for a few years now and the hose is so worn and weather check anyway. I say keep these as a quick fix as a back up, but for mobile guys the hoses get so much usage over the year it’s better just to replace it when it gets worn and cracked like this. Thanks for those great pointers! 😎👍🏼
Hi. The links are right in the description below the video. Bruno will put them here also for you. 3/8 Hose Repair amzn.to/2ZXX9vM 1/4 Hose Repair amzn.to/2PM1kWS
The only reason I can think of is that you’re not in the US. Search “Dixon BN32RU62 Brass Reusable Fitting, Adapter, 1/4" NPTF Male x 3/8" Hose ID, 5/8" Hose OD” The links are definitely working, but they may not if people are in different countries.
Hi. I’ve never had to repair those ends because they usually don’t break. But I found this. www.temu.com/1pc-premium-solid-brass-pneumatics-reusable-hose-end-repair-fitting-1-4-barb-for-1-4-inch-id-polyurethane-air-hose-with-1-4-npt-rigid-replacement-g-601099519699424.html?_x_sessn_id=cee21561gd&refer_page_name=bgn_verification&refer_page_id=10017_1715341732876_omqqbqxdzy&refer_page_sn=10017
always wondered how those things went on now I know. I need a 1/4 for my porter cable air line that's leaking that snake hiss gets annoying after awhile☺
There is something that I am not getting clearly, does the piece you first tighten to the hose a reverse threading because I notice that you are turning it anti-clockwise.
Hi. This is an old video and I forget exactly, but I do believe it was a reverse thread for the hose part and then regular thread for the brass part that secures it. That way it doesn’t loosen the hose part as you thread in the nozzle part.
The damage would be mitigated if you had used the dish-soap, you had allowed the hose to slip out of the sleeve while tightening the bolt, you must not let hose slip or the hose will slip outward on those threads and they will rip off the out layer which in turn will weaken the hose and with use because of the flexing of that area the hose will give out.
Or you visit a parker store and buy some push lock fittings. They are barb fittings with a seal at the end made for a rubber hose like that that are rated for 350PSI. No clamps, no ferals and no sleeve to thread into
wanted to ask you your thoughts please I tried to use a 1/8 hose repair kit with barb type it seemed that the barb was loose before I was going to panic I tried as a remedy wrapping teflon tape around the barb before I put a clamp it seems it became secure and does not come apart after I put the teflon tape and got it clampped ?? Ideas please thank you !!!!
Hi. Oh that’s weird. It should be loose at all. This repair kit really clamps down on the hose and makes for a really tight fit. Are you sure you got the right size?
nice...have you tried to first use insulating tape to avoid ruin the outiside? and you could use a heat shrink rubber on the joint outside when you finished! also try some 303 protectant rounds inside/out :)
it worked for the most part, but now there's a very small leak coming from between my gun and the adapter. What would you recommend to seal that small gap?
Can I replace the other end of the hose the same way ? I bought the fitting , but my hose broke at the other end , can I use it the same way ? Thank you.
Here’s “official” install video: ruclips.net/video/3V5TewL739k/видео.html They say turn it 3 rotations in, and back it out 1 rotation to keep the stress out of it. I bought what they said would fit a 3/8” line, it did NOT slip over the outside like the one in their video.....
Cool thanks,,,,The way I did it still worked great, In fact I did it a couple of times becaseu this hose is getting brittle and kept popping on me and I had to keep shortening it by a foot or so, but this is good to know! Thanks for sharing!
Ohhh. No not really. The same as the original fitting. This was on my mobile unit so the heat and sun would eat these hoses up quickly. So I would keep fixing them until I needed to just replace the hose after a year or so.
The Dixon instruction video doesn't show a screwing of the ferrule onto the hose. Rather it shows a slip fitting. When you screw the adapter in it locks the hose in the ferrule. Perhaps it doesn't matter but for those who find that the ferrule they ordered is just a slip fitting over the hose, there's no need to return it for a smaller (screw on) size. When the 11/16 ferrule I ordered was a slipfit over my 11/16 od hose I thought I had ordered the wrong one (based on this video) and was going to return it. Fortunately I found the Dixon video.
Hi What do mean by the wrong size? Can you share the video you are talking about? Are there two different types of fittings, a threaded one and a slip fit? Because I only found the threaded option and the hose had to be threaded in to fit. I also bought the wrong size at first, the 1/4 one, which was very obviously the wrong size. Then when I got the 3/8 it fit perfectly, it just needed to be threaded in. It still works to this day.
@@MirandaDetailing If you search Dixon Procedure 2305 the video should come up. The way its described on there is that the threads inside the ferrule aren't so it can be screwed onto the hose but rather they grip the hose as the adapter is screwed in. My 11/16 hose fit perfectly inside the 11/16 fitting . If I had purchased the 5/8 fitting I would've had to screw it on as you did which apparently works fine too. Who knows, maybe it's even stronger. I'm just glad I didn't have to return mine for a different size.
One problem with this video is that connector is referred to as this”. Nowhere are we told what “this” is and where to get one. Not in links below either. In short what is “this”most important part
What do you mean. I explained everything one needs to do to replace the air hose line. Links are in the description also. For anyone who has an air compressor they know exactly what “this” is. It’s not complicated at all. This video has helps thousands of people. I have tried this fitting and the slight damage done to the exterior of hose is not relevant, just cosmetic.

Will you please make a video on how to repair a damaged extension cord?
Hi. Well actually I found this video and used it myself. ruclips.net/video/-FwG2sfdLAY/видео.html
Excellent tips!! Thanks!
in using the hose you get wear and twear should t you clean and protect the hose or is t not necessary
You can clean and protect it if you want. It I find it unnecessary.
where can I get these repair parts. thank you
Hi. They should be in the description of the video
What's the max PSI for it?? I run my impact at 120 PSI....
Hi. If you click on the links they tell you in the description of the product that it is rated up to 250psi.
To thread the inner part it really helps to put dish soap on the threads.
No tape on the threads?
Hi. Nope...Not on those threads, only on the metal on metal parts.
Or you visit a parker store and buy some push lock fittings. They are barb fittings with a seal at the end made for a rubber hose like that that are rated for 350PSI. No clamps, no ferals and no sleeve to thread into

I think push lock hose must be used with the fittings.

Where and how do you drain out your air compressor inside the garage now does a bunch of rust come out ?
