This interviewer did a really good job just listening and not interrupting. I wish more interviews were like this.

The way he actually manages to be so open about what happened to him is wonderful. There are a lot of people out there, who have been/are physically and emotionally abused, i am a part of it. And to hear someone talk about it is just wonderful, cause you feel like you aren't alone in these struggles. Wil seems like a wonderful soul, and it seems he's using his notoriety to spread kindness and support all around him to people who have been/are going through the same stuff he did. This man is a gem, honestly.

Will is 💯 correct about how shame is used to control you and keep you from speaking UP!

Stand By Me was my favorite movie as a kid. It was a story about a group of dysfunctional kids that could have been my friends. That movie saved me I was going through the most difficult time of my life as a kid I had just lost my mother. My twin and I clung to this movie it made us feel safe. When Wil said that the characters were caste as themselves, I felt so sad it made me cry because I loved them all so much and saw myself in every single one of them. Thanks Wil❣

It makes you wonder how such a wonderful person can come from such terrible parents. I guess he just did not want to be like them badly enough and got help when he needed it. I wish Wil Wheaton all the best.

That is so true and it took me most of my life to figure it out! Being made to feel bad about yourself even though you have done nothing wrong, it’s the abusers problem NOT yours! The projecting of your bad thoughts about yourself into others and then blaming them for what YOU are thinking about yourself! Mind reading my therapist called it. So glad Will figured this out and is now making the most of who HE is now 😁 So wish I could go back, knowing what I know now!

Will ia so articulate in how he paints the picture of growing up without support. I do hope he finds a way to let go of the anger. I feel like he has found peace from everything but the contempt for his parents. Forgoveness is not telling your abuser it was okay and its also not letting them back in your life. It's more a total release from the power their abuse had including the residual disdain. I hope he finds the peace of forgivness.

I remember gordies brother( John cusack) starred in stand by me how he lovingly liked his younger brother,Geordie,it’s just too bad the Chris chambers older brother wasn’t supportive offelt bad for Vern his younger brother on this movie. And I felt really bad for Vern ,because teddy duchamp was really mean to him, that kid had really bad anger issues.

Kids in Midwest were forced to labor in corn fields. Shovel snow and mow lawns. Gee sorry you had it so bad standing in front of a camera.

That’s not at all how trauma works. Nor at any point in time did he say that “standing in front of a camera” was the source of his. If you’re having comprehension problems may I suggest having an adult watch these sort of things with you to better help you understand?
