  • Pierce County photographer Tim Uhler shot this drone video of a May 14 debris slide that swept away a bridge on the Spirit Lake Memorial Highway east of Coldwater Lake. The slide has blocked access to the popular Johnson Ridge Visitor Center. (Video courtesy of Tim Uhler)

    How can this be so difficult to fix? The last I heard was 2025. No shortage of amenities at the government offices full of politically correct managers. The entire area is in a state of disrepair. The area is mostly locked down. Public river access has been denied by the State and the timber companies. This road will never be fixed, and the locked down area expanded. Was that the original intent of this massive roadway project ?
