Your youtube strategy of going to unique places without much competition on RUclips is brilliant. Plus you guys do it so well. Storytelling is the strong suit of your channel. Roadside attractions are the best.
We visited the tower a few times when I was a child in the fifties and sixties.
We moved to Seattle at the end of 1964. This past May I went with my sister and BIL to San Diego.
We didn’t make it to the tower, but I took them to see the house our aunt lived in at Sunset Cliffs. Turns out, the house is a local historical house. My siblings, cousins, and I spent many happy hours there. It has always been my favorite house and I remember every part of it. I guess it also doesn’t hurt that I loved our aunt very much.
It’s designated as Elizabeth Mills Spec House #1
I have been to the tower many times and it is still someplace that I want to show to others. My first visit was in 1956, I was three years old. I absolutely loved the place. I recently took my lovely bride to the tower maybe two years ago and I had a nice time talking to the current owner. He tried to sell it to me but it would be difficult to manage it from Virginia. I declined the offer. Thanks for bring back one f my favorite childhood destinations.
Another great video! Just a short drive from San Diego, who knew?
I stopped there in the late 70s on a family trip. Then it was an antique shop. You know you're in a good place when you see an E. Clampus Vitus sign posted.
As you said that this was epic!!! 👍🏻😷👍🏿🇨🇦🇵🇭🇺🇲
What a fun trip! Thanks for sharing it!❤
0:37 I rode this last year, and, what a bumpy road! It was all closed, so I love your visit.
I need to binge watch a bunch of your videos before my next trip to California. My family who lives there never goes to interesting places like this.
good production!
Another fascinating spot guided by favorite dynamic duo!
Hey how are you? I liked your comment!!
Thanks for showing me what I missed a few years ago. I made it to the parking lot and decided not to go in. I did notice the space ship, however, and all the trailers on the road going up the hill.
You have a kitty with you? Aww ❤!! Subscribed!
*_You never cease to amaze me when it comes to finding these crazy places! As always, very well done!_*
Hope you've been well, our friend!
I lived in San Diego fo years and never heard of this place. Thanks for the tour❤
Enjoy the adventures. Ever been to Henninger Flats? Up the old Mt. Wilson toll road from Altadena. The LA County Fire Department Forestry Division maintains a nursery there.
It looks like a lighthouse in the middle of the desert lol. A lighthouse also has different floors when you go up the tower as well
Very Well Done as Always!!!!
Thank you
I used to go there all the time with my kids and my dogs😊
Great music and effects. Enjoyed!
How eclectic 😄
Excellent and unique too: A vertical garage sale with a view.
Thanks so much!😂
You guys never disappoint. That is a really cool place. Imaging making that trip in the 1920s and stopping there at the tower, wow!
Great video! If you ever travel to Gold Rush country, a visit to the Preston School of Industry in Ione, once a boys' reform school, is a must!
Awesome! This is really, really cool. Thank You Beth & Drew!!
Glad you enjoyed, our friend!
you should check out the Forestiere Underground Gardens in Fresno... Amazing... and many people live around it and have no idea it exists!
such a nice place.
Nice find.
Love this video.
You guys always make it so interesting. Not living anywhere near California, I get to experience a lot of what it has. Thank you for the videos.
Very cool spot! I'll have to add it to my CA points of interest. Thanks for sharing!
Heres an oddity, Redwood Grove in Carbon Canyon Regional Park, in Brea, CA, Orange County, off the 57 fwy. Its a place filled with Redwood trees.
Never heard of this place before! Will have to check it out on my next road trip!
Very cool. Love the sideways windows in the tower.
Thnx. Never heard of that place before.
What a lovely lookout!
A very cool spot! When I lived in San Diego I used to take visitors--they were sort of intimidated by the remoteness but really impressed by the building and the view. The creatures in Boulder Park have had a fresh coat of paint since I was there last, they're looking pretty spiffy. You got it right about being like a garage sale in there, but that's what makes it so neat. Love the sound of that desert wind on top of the tower!
Agree completely with you, Bethany and Drew. A visit to Desert View Tower would not be complete with also visiting Boulder Park. You find some of the neatest, most interesting, unusual, offbeat places to video, describe, and share with us viewers. Thank you so much! 👍❤👍❤
Thank you so much, Noah! The Tower & Boulder Park certainly go hand-in-hand. It was our last stop on this little trip to Imperial County and a nice exclamation point.
Fascinating.
I didn’t like living in Orange County, and I hated LA, but I loved going around to interesting places in the desert and such. Now I’m in Texas and I just wish it hadn’t been so expensive there because I grew up not far from here and never wanted to come back. It’s so much flatter and the only cool thing we’ve seen is wind farms and something that looks like a spaceship just sitting out in a field. So I’m staying subscribed to this channel because even though I can’t visit the places you do anymore, I still want to see them, even if it makes me homesick.
Have you been to the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway? That’s a good one to visit. Also Ortega Falls… may be covered in graffiti but I think it’s cool. I just wish I’d had the stamina to visit after all that rain. Also Black Star Canyon Falls trail… you two look up to the hike and I heard there’s some old buildings further in as well as a waterfall, but my daughter and I didn’t manage to get that far. I also heard it’s haunted, oooo…. and apparently so is the Katie Wheeler branch of the OC Library on old Myford Road in Irvine.
And of course, there’s always Bunnyhenge.
You guys find the craziest most amazing places. loved it. Very cool
Such fun!
Thanks again👍👍👍
Thanks for sharing your adventure! Great video!
Hope you're having a great weekend!
Great show, covered it very well. I have been by there but never stopped to see it.
We highly recommend! Such a great spot and there are even beautiful, friendly dogs on the property. 😊
Idk why but the "are you coming?" at 7:04 is so funny to me lmaoooo. Like hello get your butt up here
😂
I’ve been there!
Any plans visiting Rudolph Valentino’s Whitley Heights hillside Spanish house? All that remains is the building’s foundation which overlooks the 101 Hollywood freeway.
Last I visit this place was 5 years ago with family and my dog. Ben was very welcoming, he even asked me to let my dog off the leash to roam around since they had several cute dogs there hanging out. The view is amazing, you can even see the Salton Sea on a clear day. Just pack some lunch because there are no restaurants near that place.
Love that place! And the climb😅
I try to take a group of high schoolers every year. Did you go to the top of the blouders and see the springs??
Those painted boulder carvings are so cool. Part carving and part natural landscape!
You might consider covering NittWitt’s Ridge in Cambria, CA. I met Captain NittWitt when I was a teenager. What a hoot!
That's awesome you got to meet the Captain! It was definitely on our list but has sadly closed permanently.
@@OddityOdysseys Bummer! Maybe someone else will purchase it.
Hey liked the video!! 🫶🫶🫶
Hi kids! 😻
Thanks!
JESSE!!! 💕🙏 Thank YOU, our wonderful friend.
@@OddityOdysseys Your so Welcome 💞
O.O 💪
Dang, I was just there Thursday. I wonder what happened to Coyote and his flying saucer retrieval at repair service. (His stuff is near the entrance as you drive up, but he seems to have disappeared)
Thanks for the update! We visited this spot a few months ago, but with your visit being recent it sounds like Coyote hasn't made a return.
Interesting. Of the two, I found The Boulder Park more interesting than The Tower.
The tower needs lots of maintenance.
I’m curious as to what the device is your carrying around your shoulder/back. Sound recording equipment (?)
A 'castle' tower without need of fortfications, that's the world I want to live in!
Interesting video, presented in a natural way... Not like a *#*#*#* 'RUclipsr!' 🙈😂🤣👍
Best wishes from an Englishman making armour in a French forest.
Mitchell caverns
Was the rock area ok for kids? 8yo? Thanks
About how long does it take to get there from the LA area, say Glendale?
Without traffic, it would probably take about 3 hours. :)
Gah`morning O.O.
G' Mornin', our friend.
