you’re so funny 😂 that’s exactly how I think as a learner driver:
    oncoming car- ‘aaargghh’
    Parked vehicles-‘arrhhhh’
    Junctions-‘aaarrghhh’
    Truck- ‘-argghh’
Having to give way when it’s my right of way -‘grrrr’
But in honesty, after watching your video I feel much more confident at driving.
    Thanks so much Richard 😄🙏🏻

I failed my test first time about 2 years ago. I was so upset and didn't want to do it again after. I came across your videos and I've watched most of them, some more than once. It helped me feel more confident to try again. I put my test on hold end of May and got a date in July.I literally watched your videos everyday. I passed second time today 😊. I just got a new car and have been driving for a few weeks... And I've scraped my car a couple of times because of my own mistakes. That tip about rushing has really opened up my eyes even though I knew it was a problem I had, yet hearing you say it made it click in very well. I'm a car enthusiast and I really want to perfect my driving skills. Your videos are slowly giving me back the confidence to drive again.

Part of being a good captain is being a calm captain. Do things in your own time and give yourself a chance to think.

  • @music4meh

    As an experienced learner:
I rushed taking my time. Often, I was making a certain manouevre my instructor and I wanted to exercise, and we ended up wasting both our time because I was too afraid of how good I already was. If your instructor wants you to do something, they trust you can, and trust me, they have had enough experience to know you can.
For example: I could've taken a roundabout after waiting for some cyclists, I could've made a clean turn at a dead-end road before someone else was about to leave. You really have to trust yourself, especially after the first lesson (or to be fair, at any time, everyone learns at their own pace). You learn these motor-skills (no pun intended) within your first 6-8 lessons, and don't worry if it takes more. You just need to get the hang and swing of it
    My most important tips:
If you feel inconfident, to the point that you don't even want to take driving lessons: go for it. You'll surprise yourselves. It's a lot at the start, you have to take care of so much, mind for so many things, and get the hang of the motor skills of steering, while handling the pedals and the clutch (pun is always intended). Just chill out. You got your instructor beside you, and there are some people who are incredibly clusmy or absent-minded who easily managed their lessons and exam. Sure people die in car accidents, but don't let that frighten you.
I felt bad about my first two driving lessons, but I did my slope test (not sure how you guys call it: hanging at an incline/decline and holding the brake until the clutch tells you it's ready to set off) and parking perfectly. Sure you have to pay attention to a lot, but once the driving itself becomes second nature to you, the motor-skills required to handle (again, no pun intended) steering, using the pedals, applying the clutch, it's super easy. You've always got someone beside you paying attention, until it's clear as day that you don't need it. And even then, in dangerous situations, most people handle (I swear it's not a pun) themselves quite neatly, even in traffic, when tensions can reach a boiling point of no return.

I learned the lesson quite well, thank god nothing happened to me. Now I always check mirrors in roundabouts, because in my motorbike (I'm learning how to drive a car at the same time) I was doing 1st to 3rd exit and from 2nd to 3rd exit I was indicating left, the car from the 2nd exit cuts me off on the left and blames me for swing left. Of course, I need to leave the roundabout. From that day, I'm constantly check every single mirror in roundabouts hahah, even in car.

I was looking at the oncoming huge Land Rover and that is exactly how I lost my wing mirror 😳🤭 The noise was incredible and the whole experience very scary (for me as the other driver didn’t even stop). My confidence took a massive knock that day 😕

I'm sure that's happened to most of us. It's not right for the car not to stop although it's very difficult to prove who is responsible in those situations.

1:10 I will confess that when I was 17 I did the exact same thing, except I was looking left because I live in California. The car in front of me started to move forward, I assumed it would speed up, looked left, and seeing a gap in oncoming traffic I hit the gas and bumped into the person in front of me because I didn’t check my front before moving off. That’s the kind of thing you do once and never forget

Hi, could you do a video about when exactly to use the hand break or how to work with cluch control? I never know when to put the hand break on at turnings etc. I've had 5 lessons so far, so I'm sure it'll come to me soon but a video would really help. thank youu :)

Use the handbrake when you are parking or if you think you need it for a hill start. I don't use it much when I'm driving. Watch my videos on hills for more information.

When I first started… I made mistake 1 a few times ( trying to change lanes to move around a stopped car making a left turn, making a right turn during slow traffic while staring at my side mirror and blind spot for too long etc) Luckily never hit the car in front bc I fortunately have a newer model vehicle that comes with front collision mitigation system with audio . So when my car saw I was about to hit the car in front it gave me an audio alert and started applying brakes . I finished the brake application the moment I heard the alert saving my ass. Now I focus on traffic ahead during lane changes and junctions only quickly glancing at the mirror and blinds . I’ve heard my cars alert system a lot less often XD

My 1st accident happened the same way as yours. Now I'm teaching a freind. He's at 50 hours and his autistic like myself and takes longer to learn. But once we got it we keep it

I am one of those learners who try to rush things! I have my test next week and i need to get out of this habit fast, your advice on just accepting that i don't need to rush is great advice, i will certainly try apply this to my future lessons but another video on this would be much appreciated!
I have a fantastic instructor and your videos are helping me immensely, thank you for taking the time to do these, they are so incredibly helpful, keep up the good work! Fingers crossed i pass 🤞

'If you can do it slowly, you can do it quickly'
Two set. That's why I found the statement of 'learners needing to practice slowly before they can do it quickly' humorous slightly but only just remembered this joke from two set.
