      I will say, Buffet disowned his granddaughter and claimed she's adopted because she was interviewed for a documentary (she only said nice things about him.) I will agree, he endorses foods that would kill people at a young age if they ate them too often. I don't eat anything he promotes.

      @jasminep.9860 3 месяца назад +22

      That has nothing to do with hustle culture. You're connecting two things that don't always go together. There's nothing wrong with having aspirations and wanting something beside the pushed traditional path. The problem is when people care more about succeeding than about morals, and their aspirations become selfish and are done for purely selfish gain, instead of acquiring wealth honestly (it's rare, but it does happen) and donating/sharing your wealth. You're right, some people shouldn't be revered. But, wanting to be successful doesn't mean that you automatically revere these people; you can strive to be successful for your own reasons without admiring these people.

    Sorry...but, I don't find anything wrong here, except maybe the insider trading incidents. I actually wanted to see something truly negative about him.
    Wanting to maintain a good public image is not a crime. Investing in cigarette companies or CocaCola is not a crime. I know they are harmful to society overall, but it is the government's job to limit their usage somehow (through taxes or regulation). If some profitable business is legal, a smart investor would invest in it.
    Looking for pricing power is not a crime. Pricing power just indicates the superiority of the product. There is nothing wrong with increasing candy prices. You can price candies as high as you want (basically until people are willing to buy them). With pharmaceuticals though, it is not right, as they are essentials - but again, it is the job of the government to control prices/make drugs accessible to everyone.
    And most importantly, none of these investments is private; he has openly discussed them publicly multiple times.
    The insider trades though are wrong imo, if they really happened. You should have talked more about them - If they truly happened and clearly proved, what happened with the investigations? What was the size of these trades? Honestly, I don't see an incentive for him to buy these shares with personal money before/after Berkshire has bought them, considering most of his money is in Berkshire itself.
    I was expecting something actually bad about him, unfortunately there is nothing here...

Not being a contrarian but I thought the reason warren buffet is someone held in high regard was because of proof it’s not only about what you know but who you know and some (I guess) proper investment strategies does insider trading make it way easier when your friends with all these companies of course. But i don’t think there’s a businessman who doesn’t cheat in some way even lawyers cheat it’s messed up but everyone cheats sometimes because you can’t stop people from having personal relationships and or leverage on other people
