Dr. Dean and Dr. Ayesha Sherzai are dedicated to educating people on the simple steps to long-term health and wellness through their work as Directors of the Alzheimer’s Prevention Program at Loma Linda University Medical Center, with patients, as well as through online writing, videos, and books.
There is a tsunami of diseases of the brain such as Alzheimer’s, stroke and Parkinson’s disease permeating our culture. In our own communities and families, we all have known at least one person suffering from these illnesses and in many cases seen the fallout first-hand. There is no treatment for these diseases, and the emotional, financial and social burden is immense. These diseases are thieves, stealing time, money and ravaging the minds of our loved ones. Lifestyle change is the only answer.
Just discovered you guys. I have been whole food plant based for about 5 years. Before that, vegetarian for 30 years during that time I ate cheese and eggs. I am 80 and don't take any medication what so ever and have a BMI of 22.5. I was over weight before I got interested in diet and nutrition. I think you guys are leading people in the right direction. Keep up the good work!
More power to you sir
What a great "down to earth" approach you have. I am 84 years old and have been on a whole foods diet for five years and have never felt better in my life. Snacking between meals, is an addiction, and avoiding them has allowed me to lose 60 pounds without hunger or cravings. Your idea of using healthy dips with my fruit and vegetables is sending me to grocery store is the best idea yet. Thanks.
Love how they respect each other and of course their knowledge,
Beautiful Strong Couple. So generous to take time to educate and save lives. Brilliant!
Your book, The Alzheimer's Solution, changed my life. Thank you so much!
This made our day, thank you April.
So pleasant to see how Dean emphatically gives room to Ayesha to speak, and how he also comfortably and really interested listens to her speak, up to the point where he forgets it is his turn to speak…
They a Fantastic Couple love them to bits
As always ... great information with useable tips. Thanks!
I also just discovered you guys and you are awesome. Thank you for being so dedicated. I got your book and look forward to reading it. I have been a vegetarian for 30 years and just started, 3 months ago a plant based diet. I feel so much better. I heard Dr. Dean on Rich Roll say he became a vegetarian for ethical reasons, I was happy to hear that , I so admire someone who is conscious of the atrocious suffering of animals, the world is a hell for the animals, I also follow a plant based primarily for ethical reasons, but the health benefits are amazing. Thank you , will be listening eagerly to all you two have to say.
Thank you docs @TheBrainDocs for this video. I’m a mum of 3, 1 with an autism diagnosis trying to eat healthier with a whole food plant based diet so this is helpful.
Im a cognitive neuroscientist qnd certified health educator, i love snackjng in small peices of broccoli, carrots, kale, etc. So good.
Thanks to you both for your snacking recommendations. I have just learned about your research and work and I will be listening as much as I can about it as I want to prevent Alzheimer to be part of my existence. Wish you the best for what you are doing.
Thank you for the amazing work and so down to earth approach!

This is shocking! Have you not heard of hyperinsulinemia? I was whole foods plant based for years, and snacked on fruit all day and ended up ill with the aforementioned which causes weight gain depression and anxiety. And here you are recommending it .
Just ordered their book.
Cutting up veggies in tiny peices with nuts, making sure organic umsalted. Put them in a small sealed container. You can take thrm to office etc. Eat with purified or spring water.
actually, no, you should probably add some salt especially if you’re drinking a bunch of water. Nobody is very good at excreting salt, but does not do well when salt depleted.
Just got your 30 day Alzheimer’s solution book… it’s amazing 😻 thank you!!!
Hello professor
Thank you so much for your interesting information. I love your way of teaching and excellent explanation.
I really appreciate your job.
I wish you peace and happiness under the sky of prosperity.
Your follower from Algeria.
Is it safe to do a high fat, low grain version of your recommended diet? With plant based fats, of course.
I always have pumpkin seeds in my car and try to have a red cabbage salad with legumes in it in the fridge at all time, usually after eating some of the salad my urge to snack kinda go away. If I can't stop myself from snacking, I usually go with some tortillas with a vegan cheese sauce made of potatoes, carrots, yeast lemon spices etc, it lasts for weeks in the fridge. I don't have alzheimer in my family but the mother of my girlfriend have huntington's disease, do you think that being vegan, exercising, having good sleep etc. might affect her chances of getting the disease later in life if she is on the bad side of the 50/50 odds? She is 29 years old. Thanks in advance for your answer.
New subs here thank you very much❤
This is very informative.
Tenho o livro de vocês! A Solução do Alzheimer, meu esposo está com essa doença, 58 anos. Vou seguir os ensinamentos e quero ajudá-lo em tudo que estiver ao meu alcance.
Great info...... Thanks
I'M watching from Guyana
What about avocado and olives are those two good for us
Hola excelente información podrían incluir subtitulos en español🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
I thought snacking spikes blood sugar and insulin and keeps your body in a fat storing state instead of fat burning (Intermittent fasting). Is this correct?
How do I get protein when we become vegan but am allergic to nuts? I eat lentil, sunflower and pumpkin seed, but I can't everyday.
Watch the nuts, not too many depending on your weight. Protein is HUGE in beans & lentils ... heck in ALL FOODS ... but especially beans & lentils! Read more online on vegan sources of protein.
Eat some meat. There is nothing wrong with eating meat a couple times a week
I have read (and I'm sorry, I can't remember where, so I clearly need to increase my nutrient intake...!) that some areas of the brain (e.g. the hippocampus) can grow new brain cells in adulthood through aerobic exercise. Is that accurate? Thank you.
Meditation has been shown to grow areas like the hippocampus. Or you can just call it mindfulness practice which can be done many ways.
@@youtubeguy4989 Thank you :-)

Now that we have become vegan my wife is concerned about eating to much soy. As a women, I would like your opinion on how much soy products a women should have in her diet?

Love you ❣️ guys but I need you to get to the point quicker I don't have much time for watching . Thank you 💗
Set it to play at double speed.
I heard that snacking too often raises the insulin in your body, and is very taxing on the pancreas. DIdn't ancient man eat once or twice a day in the days when diabetes & obesity was probably non-existent.
Most people in ancient man days died before they got diabetes or obesity usually from starvation, it’s a great way to keep from getting both of those problems. We also didn’t wear shoes then now we have to because we have concrete. Man has to evolve with things that have evolved around him. We have a problem with over eating because we have too much food. Foods that are made into super addictive because that’s the way a manufacturer sells their food over another’s.It used to be that an animal would come after us . Now other humans do to make us fat and die or be turned into slaves who can’t do anything but sit around and eat. Then we have manufacturers of medicines and even hospitals for that matter that wouldn’t be anywhere without obese people buying medicines, surgery and food. Making all of these things to keep people alive even though they can’t do anything anymore because they’re so fat. We are made not to live anymore but to exist. We turn ourselves into the cattle that we’ve grazed on for so long. Now the manufacturers graze on us…
What's wrong with good salts like sea salt and Himalayan pink salt?
Snacking is for sugar burners
