Hi, doesn't seem like the poster responds anymore. I did this install and am having some issues. Maybe you can help? CP and AA work great. However, for some reason the Native OEM Navigation is not working. Location of the car never updates and time never keeps accurate. When I check the Navigation Settings/Info, under GPS it states no satellites found. Do you have any insight or suggestions?
@@KcGuy816 it seems like one of the wires to the screen must not have gotten plugged back in since it seems like your connection to the satellite antenna is disconnected which would explain the navigation errors as well as the clock not updating (since clock is set from satellite). You probably have to pull the unit out again and find a wire back there that didnt get reconnected
@@nbrugman1980 thank so much for the reply. I decided to check behind the screen, and I did forget to plug in the Blue GPS Antennae cable. Plugged it in and everything is working perfectly. Thank you for your reponse though!
This was really cool, thanks for sharing. I still find it ridiculous that we have to go through all this mess just to install ACP and AA, considering there are websites ... from normal, non Mazda employees like Mazda Tweaks that let you install these and work near perfection.
What is the blue tool called and where can this be bought. I wanna remove the upper trip to put some foam and grease the clips cz of the dashboard creaks. Did you experience those too?
thank you for this video - it was very helpful. Few questions though: should i disconnect the battery before doing this? Also if i had to remove the shifter panel, how would i do it? i need to change it.
Any idea how to get the firmware upgrade? Looks like Mazda has been shutting down all attempts to upload it anywhere... Thanks so much; I wish I could upgrade the FW and then order the hardware for installation. Also, what's the prying tool you're using?
Great video, I am going to try this out I did have a quick question though, did the kit come with the necessary tape or did you have purchase that separately?
A Mazda dealership in San Diego sent out a email yesterday saying they should have the accessory kit by 11-20 and will offer it for $380 for parts and labor installed. How much do the parts and accessory kit cost and where can you buy them? I have a 2017 CX-5 Touring trim AWD.
So at my last dealer oil change they gave me the firmware, but I don't see a hint of Android auto or apple car play in it. If I do the hardware installation, it will just show up?
That's because you needed to install the software first. That is pointed out multiple times on the forums and right at the beginning of my video and in the notes.
I fail to see all the car reviewers complaint about not having the benefit of having android auto or apple CarPlay. What can this do that Mazda connect cant? Not even worth $20 to upgrade and they want $180+ parts. When I installed it, it was a huge disappointment, I was like "that's it?" I guess google maps would be easier to find what you're looking for in search recognition vs mazdas.
Well for one, you have the most up to date maps possible with any location you could need. Having a conversation with the Google assistant is far easier than Mazdas system. And if you live in Spotify or Google Play Music, browsing your library is actually possible unlike with Mazda Connect. I guess it ultimately depends on how much convenience is worth to you. For me, $175 is well worth it.
First off Mazda infotainment system is seriously dreadfully slow. Second if you have the SD card navigation system which I bought off ebay for dirt cheap $60 for an official OEM one that Mazda dealers themselves try and up sell for $200 to $300 is dreadfully terrible and not very user friendly at all. Hell even updating the navigation SD card with mazda's free toolbox software which they update twice a year is pain and slow to update, which also requires you to use a usb sd card reader to plug into your pc or mac.I have done all this listed above and still find myself currently on a day to day basis using GPS on my iphone 7+ through blu-tooth on my 2017 CX-5. Also if you want ACP or AA to wow you then look into Jail Breaking your iphone or android based phone and use a tweak install called carbridge which opens up a ton of apps on your iphone and ACP.
With whole respect this is not installation for average customer. It is very easy to get so many malfunctions after such installation in the car. I do not recommend to do it for your own as far you are Mazda technician or you have two Mazda one for tests one for drive. To remove some errors can take few months by you or you will be forced to go Mazda garage and pay even more. This is not easy installation.
Agreed. It is not for the average customer. But if you have experience with trim removal then it is not difficult at all. The average person should be capable of handling several wire connectors and a couple bolts.
@@TheIoniqGuy my point is for some people will be better to go and see car technician, car is not cheap tool sometimes is better pay something and get it right for first time.
adrian xxxx my dealer wants to charge me 500 dollars to do this install. Parts are about 160 dollars over priced for plastic cables and a usb port already. I think its worth the risk. You are nit really messing with the “driveability” of the car. Its not super easy but if you are tech savvy and use common sense it should be a walk in the park and a fun project
I have a 16 so this doesn't do me any good, yet I still couldn't stop watching. Why was that so fascinating?
Thank you so much for making this video! I just did the install this weekend and would have never even attempted it without your walkthru. Invaluable!

Thank you! Now, I just have to get the parts -- and the nerve to take my two-month-old CX-5 apart! Looking forward to part 2!
Thanks for the awesome breakdown and walk-through. Super helpful.
I have that same vehicle, color, trim , everything. Can't wait for the update!!!
Thank you so much for taking the time to shoot this!
This is great, thank you! I'm eagerly awaiting Part 2 as my parts come in the mail.

Thank you so much for making this video! Couldn't have done my install without it.
Just got mine up and running. Great tutorials!

Completed my install today thanks to you
Glad I could help!
Great help! Thanks a lot!
Nice house and garage...
Nice video! Will my Bose system still work nice if i put this on my car?

Looking forward to Part 2.
great videos! did you install with the serial cable hack? do you have a video for that process? just got the new parts in and ready to go!
No, I don't but am thinking about maybe doing it in the future
What else you think I should remove to be able to remove the dashboard so i can replace it with other one I have the airbag blown
Did you disconnect the battery before doing this?
Can those clips break?
Thx a tons, the vid was dark at some part, but overall was gud, appreciate ur work!
Nice Dude! I am going to do this on my mazda 3 soon!
Thanks for the video save me a lot of $😁👍
Where did you get the floor mats? Would appreciate your response! Thanks

Any idea how to install a new gas tank door?

Came with the foam tape
@@TheIoniqGuy Thank you!
Installed it successfully yesterday and works great 👍🏼
Oh, my other question... Once all this is done you've got to have the phone hard wired to the new USB port, it won't work over Bluetooth?
Great video!!!!, could tell me where buy it, i am so excited to install it too

in the US, $380 for OEM parts and labor is a good deal.
So at my last dealer oil change they gave me the firmware, but I don't see a hint of Android auto or apple car play in it. If I do the hardware installation, it will just show up?
If you're 100% sure it was version 70 they installed, then yes.
Ia there a video tutorial for the 2018 mazda 3?
If i install this tweak i loss warranty??
Hi can you please help me. I have the parts installed but no software update. Can I just go on and install it ? Everything is working normaly
Software update needs to be done before hardware install. There's no way around that.
okay. by chance, do you know what is the latest software I need? I am from Puerto Rico
Version 70
corbinl2890 ok, thank you!
I installed the apple carplay and nothing came out. Will it be the software version? the version is 59.00.446 NA N
You installed the new hardware?
corbinl2890 yes!
That's because you needed to install the software first. That is pointed out multiple times on the forums and right at the beginning of my video and in the notes.
ok, what do you recommend me to do?
Don't know. Search the forums. Probably have to reinstall the old hardware and then install the software and reinstall the new hardware again.
Where did you get the V70 software? I got my kit today.
Added a link in the description to the forum.
how much is the kit ?
About $170
You let them johnnies B R E A T H E hahahaha
