What an absolutely gorgeous piece of music. I've been listening to this for almost ten years and it still takes me away. Bravo!
Many thanks for your beautiful comments. These keep me going and my ego afloat. I'd love to hear more from you if you get this and feel like writing to me. Viva la flute!

Very nice! Beautiful tone and love the solos. Patty Bartlett Moore, flutist
One of my friends posted this track on the Facebook a few years ago. Once I listen to this track it keeps running in my mind for a few days. I'm going to listen to other songs by this artist, great music.
Flute can showers words, in between known to very unknown ... Likely between earth & heaven ... Bettiwin heart ya soul ...
This is a wonderful jam on a great classic! Thank you Dave Hinz and your friends!!!!!
You're welcome Josiah! Great to hear from you.
I was looking for examples for my son so that he could hear there's more flute music than just what he hears in elementary school band. This was really nice!
Wonderful tone, great playing, top recording job.
Really, really liked your playing. Bravo guys. Had to come back a few times ... ; ) flutist & bassist myself
I love your rendition of Black Orpheus...and practicing my flute with you is wonderful....paradise indeed....Namaste!
Wonderful...How I forget!
What a fabulous rendition of this great tune.
Wow this is how it should be done. Really beautiful.
Fantastic track, from the flute tone to the great arrangement. I hope you don't mind but have been playing along to this to try to learn this genre. It's so different to my classical flute training but I'm beginning to enjoy and appreciate the freedom of improvisation. Thank you for your inspiration!
Amazing how all the instruments harmonize so well in this bossa nova piece. Came across this video while I was looking for my grandpa, David Hinz who was a great music conductor. ...
WOW I LOVE THIS STYLE. It just like i'm in a VIP seat face to face. Great orchestra fabolous flute solo!
I love your music. The whole band did such a good job. This is my favorite rendition of Black Orpheus.

Hello Kate! There's a saying about good musicians dont borrow, they steal. Pretty funny! Say hello if you like. David
Outstanding work! Great combo and magnificent flute improvisation. Instant favorite. Thanks a lot for sharing this.
Brilliant, played it over and over a few times. I think the lava lamp in the background sets the scene too, Dave!

The name of the song is "Manha De Carnival" ( pronounced Manya gee Kar--ni-Vow --from the film, Black Orpheus ) "Morning of the Carnival'
Dave,
What a fabulous track! Very easy on the ear and bops along nicely. Also very impressed with the video quality and I like how you introduced the band members with blinking titles. A very smooth piece of work.
Many thanks for sharing.

Hi Meghan!
I just saw your comment and wanted to thank you for your kind support. Now over 198,000 views, which is more than some flutists on this tune who are more widely known than I am. I do check comments periodically and will respond again if I hear from you.
Best Wishes!
Your an inspiration...keepum commin
Me llego al alma, bien interpretado ;)
Just came across this video.
Nice playing and great group you have there Dave.
I am a flute player myself. Love this piece of yours.
Keep up the good work and music.
Good bless you and your group.
excellent!
Very well perform thanks
Dave Hinz, I sure hope you're still around.
Why yes, I am still around and having fun. Love all the great comments and wonderful support. Thanks!
this is very music.
Everything is amazing here...but Tommy...that bass is tight brother...love it
Point of interest, the bass accidentally didn't get recorded direct into the mulititrack, so I took audio from the camera mic closest to his bass amp and processed the hell out of it to try to salvage a usable track to mix with the rest of the instruments. Turned out pretty good! And yes, Tommy is a tight player.
NICE!!!
¡Bravo!
Very nice
so Great! 独創性の成せる業
Super!!!
Excelente!!!
Wow!!
great...
Hello,
My flute is a 14 K gold Brannen Brothers / Cooper / Kingma with a 22 K gold Lafin head joint... current set up. However, in this video I am playing with the original head, a 14 K gold Brannen with silver lip plate and riser. Still sounds ok I guess!
Thanks for your interest. Dave
Nice job
Manhã de carnaval, Luiz Bonfá.
Luv to know the make of that flute....It has a better tone than my Yamaha
Excelent
great performance! everyone was waitin' for a great piano solo just to change the sound... but it's a great version anyway!
❤
Me encantó Dave de que país eres? yo de Argentina, Tks for your music!
👍👍👍👍
Hey, I really love this interpretation. Can you tell me what flute are you using in this video?
@davehinzflute . Could you maybe suggest a spesific book? I live in South-Africa and jazz music isn't so easy to come by!
клево!!!
Nice work Dave , do you have sheet music pls
Its a jazz standard...check the real book.
@davehinzflute Love your tone; you are a really excellent flutist & musician! What brand of flute are you playing here? And do you still play it or have others also - if so what is your preference now? Love how you ended the song!
Ah yes, thanks for your support and curiosity. My flute is 14 K gold and was made for me by Brannen Flutes in collaboration with Eva Kingman & Albert Cooper in 1998.
Exelente...a parte"ad libitum"
Dear Dave, may you share scripts for this piece of beautiful music?
Its a jazz standard...check the real book.
Hello Anton, the sheet music for this tune is readily available in a variety of contexts, such as the Real Book. Part of my solo on this tune was transcribed by James Toller, who wrote the book The Kuma Trilogy
