I've never seen this kind of riding before and it looks like kind of like indoor hunting with the style of the jumps- which is basically perfect, definitely on my to do list!
showjumping and cross country together are a part of eventing. Hunters are judged by style and grace of the horse and position of the rider and the harmony and fluidity of both. Jumpers are the other "option" under just show jumping and its about having the fastest clean round and the jumps often higher and more technical i believe. i hope this helps :)
Hunters isn't based on how fast you get around he course, unlike jumpers. You are not timed during a hunter round. A hunter round is judged on the style of the horse over the jumps (for example, a horse with alot of scope, with snappy knees and a round shape, would place well), the rider's equitation over the fences, the grace and rhythm of the course, and making it look easy and fluid. In hunters, riders are trying to show off their horse as best they can for the judge, and they should make the course look so easy that it looks as if the horse is doing most of the work :) . Basically, judges are looking for a horse who looks like he could go canter and gallop around a foxhunting field with ease, because hunters have their roots in foxhunting. Hunters are also more formal as far as clothing and tack. Hunter horses and riders must wear only comservative colored tack and clothes, nothing too brightly colored, traditional clothing basically, whereas in the jumper ring you may see horses and riders wearing lots of different colors and more relaxed attire.
I personally own a hunter myself so that's the course I have taken in my riding. There's a very common mistake most people make about hunters and jumpers. People like to say jumpers jump higher and hunters don't. That's untrue. My horse was a 1.10 hunter. He showed in over 4 feet classes. But hunters are judged by how they work with their horse, on their style, and keeping a consistent stride. It is its own thing. Hunters isn't part of eventing like showjumping and cross country. Jumpers is judged on time and faults. Hunters on consistency and grace. Things like rollbacks, bending lines, broken lines, and tight turns are things jumpers are known for. Hunters don't do those kinds of things. Our courses tend to be much more simple but will also be a lot longer. We also have a lot of rules. We have to wear a show coat, have a fitted white saddle pad (the pad that's in the shape of a saddle,) we can only show in metal stirrups, not plastic, and have our horses mane and tail braided. Jumpers you can normally where whatever you please. Hope this helps!
Anne, this is real... Louise Serio is an actual human and Temptation is an actual horse and this was at an actual horse show. Look the horse and rider up and while you're at it, look up the show too...
ses.equine the cambox isis is the best helmet cam around, designed for horse riding. This could be it as it's next to invisible and wouldn't distract the judges by its ugliness
My horses canter is like the smoothest thing in the world but she is pretty speedy but she recently went lame but is doing a lot better but amazing riding everything went really nice and smooth love it
That’s more for when your riding a straight course - line, diagonal, line... etc and for smaller arenas where hunter riding is usually done. You get a circle to get the horse going - in this case she has a lot of room and it’s obviously not a straight on course so the rider has more freedom with their approach to the first jump
Sugagenius with Bts jjang jjang man bbong bbong you have to memorize the course. Not always the easiest, but it tends to have a logical flow to it which helps :)
Jane Eastmond A real horse show, would never have a course on pavement. This is illegal in the horse world and no one should ever jump a horse on pavement unless the want to damage a horses tendons. I am pretty sure this a some kind of sand or cinder
Why do you hate hunter just because you're a eventer? Makes no sense I'm training to be a eventer but I don't see a reason to hate it :P Also your coma should have comma before the I and you forgot the M in Am.
hi! I'm a three day eventer and I know that you can learn some nice skills from the hunters. Like balance, reading a stride and getting a better jump from your horse . So be nice.
I was like, “ARE THEY GOING TO JUMP OVER THE CAR?!”
Beautiful round! I forgot how much I miss riding hunter, I was counting strides through that entire round haha
Gorgeous Course! I love Hunters! Hah! Same here!
been doing dressage forever but now as a teenager im picking up hunter’s for the first time and I was also counting strides haha😭

Nice course! Those jumps looked fun and that horse looks really nice. I can't believe though that you could wear a helmet cam in the hunter ring!
Wow, so smooth! You two have a great partnership!
That was so satisfying for like any rider because it was practically flawless
so cool! great ride!
That horse is cantering so smooth
I do Showjumping and cross country but never hunter, Whats the difference?

yeah I sort of understand now

Bryn Baldasaro in Australia its called equitation but pretty much the same thing as hunter jumping
Breed and height of your boy? Love him. My old hunter was an 18.1 hh colored warmblood but his canter and hand gallop were SO DAMN SMOOTH! Great work!
such a smooth amazing controlled ride wow 😻
Very beautiful round!
Well done, that was an amazing round. -claps-
Smooth canter there! I can barely hear em! Great stamina through the turns.
Fantastic job! Lovely horse!
ME when i see the course: (all memory goes from my head) Ima head out!
Nice smooth stride 👍
That was very nicely ridden
Amazing! Which GoPro did you use for this?
Anne Volk game???

Kennett Square Pennsylvania?
It's so weird hearing a location you know randomly 😂
that was soo perfect well done
nice round. Calm horse too.
Beautiful 🏇
Good job!!!👏🏽👏🏽👌🏽👌🏽do you know the song they play at the end?
My horses canter is like the smoothest thing in the world but she is pretty speedy but she recently went lame but is doing a lot better but amazing riding everything went really nice and smooth love it
such a perfect round. does anyone know what score they got?
That was amazing! Im thinking of doing hunter jumper with my gypsy vanner, he always goes on the correct lead, should i do it?
Berta Potatocake
You could, but you're probably not going to win anything
Megan Proffitt my gypsy can jump 1m ? They cant give me less points cuz i got a draft
Kendyl Thompson true but u got that everywhere
It doesn't matter how high your horse can jump. It's all about what the judges like and the judges don't like draft types.
Megan Proffitt maybe in america its like that but in belgium and the netherlands its neutral, btw thats everywhere
Nice horse 🐴 you did well
Amazing! Good job!
great video ur horse is amazing keep making videos plz!!!
What a nice horse.
Ive always leaned towards the eventing side however, what happened to the curtesy circle youre supposed to do? Dont hunters do that?
Some do, some don't. :)
courtesy circle is for the riders benefit, its not mandatory, her trotting around the jumps was basically her courtesy circle.

That horse is so mat colored and pretty
Well done
how do u remeber where to go??
this is what money looks like
How do u remember which one u have to jump?
Sugagenius with Bts jjang jjang man bbong bbong you have to memorize the course. Not always the easiest, but it tends to have a logical flow to it which helps :)
We have to walk the course and the jumps are numbered.....at least in my country
@@meagan3390 that’s for jumpers. In hunters you don’t walk the course or get numbers! Strictly looking at a paper and the jumps
Can't put my finger on how how but WH is so different to showjumping!
Dulcie Torrans
Jumpers is judged on timing and faults. Hunters is judged on how smooth the round is, how the horse goes, etc ☺️
Hey I live in Kenner square PA!!! Cool
I am from Kennett Square 😮😁
I dream to compete here 🤩
wish my horse jumped and canterd that smoothly...😂
Was it ok love 😃😄😃😄😃😄
