    It’s a shame that injuries would keep Verkerk down for the rest of his career. He could’ve been something much more and this tournament just proves it.

      schalken also when he came close to top 10. Dutch tennis players and injuries are common.

      It was really a shame, didn't really knew about his injuries, but i saw all this tournament, it was a pleasure to watch him playing. Most of his victories were due to his amazimg powerful serve, but he could also play!

    What happened to Ferrero after this? Prior to his win, he was in one final and two semis at Roland Garros. Following his win, he failed to make it beyond the third round. Obviously Nadal would have prevented him from lifting the trophy once he came on the scene, but that's a pretty bad record for a clay court specialist.

    • @ronniep9272
      @ronniep9272 2 года назад +4

      He got injured a lot from 2004 onwards and was never the same player again. He probably good have done with another 5kg of muscle, 72kg is very light for a 6ft player and this probably contributed to his injuries.

      @commodorezero Год назад +2

      Despite being a clay court specialist after this his big feats were all on hard courts as he got hurt before the 04 clay season and was never the same. He made the 03 US Open final and 04 Australian Open semis. A few years later he made a masters final at Cincinatti again on hard courts.

      When they get into a rally, the edge goes to Juan Carlos. When Martin bombs in a serve, he holds the upper hand.
