@4:58 is my grandmother, Kathryn (thatcher)Snyder. She was the cashier at Thatcher's Arcade for many Years. We would go shopping there in the 50's when I was a child. My father and uncles worked at the fish market there. Such a cool memory for me to view this. Thank you for posting it.
My dad grew up in Easton. I haven’t been there in decades and my childhood memories are of their farm. I didn’t realize it was a large city even when he was a child. I wish he was still here to watch this with.
This is where I grew up, my whole family and relatives!! I moved to Florida 6yrs ago for work now but want to move back home to be closer to family-that was Good ol’ Easton, PA -downtown near the circle! Thanks for the nostalgia!
That was very good. Thank you to the person who shot it and thanks for sharing on You Tube. This was probably shot in late 1949 or early 1950. I did see a few 1950 cars.
Now that is the Easton I would still want to live in, but times have changed along with people and Cars that Carry Loud Woofer's to shake the windows in the house.

All of the commonwealth is a shadow of its former self. The big three cities are cesspools. Sad... I love my commonwealth, but she’s been abused and she’s tired.
Nancy Rutman This is actually a collection of various old films. The bulk of the video was filmed by a local historian, William Carling and his 16mm movie camera. Many people are glad he took the time and $$$ back then to film this. Please check my youtube page here for more films like this.
America was an industrial superpower. Look at Easton today. A shadow of its former self. Nice place still, but nothing like this. Then again what is like it was, nothing.
Look how nice everyone dressed back then the whole state is a cesspool now thanks to the democrat party. Take your life in your hands walking Easton nowadays.
hey I just moved to Phillipsburg, literally right in front of the free bridge, back in january.. I just started a podcast called TheFreeBridge Podcast.. was wondering if you might want to collaborate some time.. also, tell me what you think of some of my content.. I love the music o this video lol
I guarantee back then people were so much nicer and happier but go downtown now and tell me what you see, plus all those factories that had good jobs , American made products are all gone and so are the middle class, that whole downtown to about 22nd st is not good
Such a place, my grandparents immigrated from Italy through Elis Island and moved to Easton. I remember the early 1960’s like these images. Today, well sorry, everyone is wanting a hand out, and become some type of woke victim - the city has degreased…. The greatest generation has lots of history for us to learn from.

Some of the footage is actually early 50’s based on cars. My mothers aunts and uncles mostly lived in Easton and P-burg.
Jeez I love there and I’ve never seen footage from the 1940s. It changed a lot.
I'm an eastonia I loved it thank u.
Same brother
At 1:35 there is a 1950 chevy and a 1950 ford. Maybe they vane out in late 1949, but pedestrians are wearing short sleeve shirts.

Small town America at it's finest.
Lol love to see that people didn't know how to drive in the circle then either 😅
Easton is my hometown
Fantastic video! I wonder what was the reason behind the original filming.

19king14 More people should do this today so we have a record for the future of ordinary life in 2015!
+Nancy Rutman . Don't encourage them. There is too much filming going on today, much of it invading people's privacy.
Really? Taking archival footage?
@@19king14 My cousin Tim has lots of Bushkill park footage, from his dad

I'm so confused with what people's political standpoint has to do with the lifestyle of those who live here.
Ok, boomer.
