WOW!!! That is the most informative thing I have ever found on Yanmar transmissions!! My transmission starting occasionally taking a long time to go into gear. It made a noise, then when I increased RPMs it " clunked" into gear. It just started doing this last season. I have been researching. I plan to rebuild my transmission this winter. After watching your video I have a much better understanding of what could be the issue. Thank you for the information!! Who is that guy??? He really knows his stuff!!
Blinding detail grasshopper . i'm with the OK lady here. Great information from Yanmar Zen master. Glazed cones in the clutch areas are compounded by incremental issues of gear selector, prop alignment and gear oils used. Its baffling, confusing and v expensive if you go to the marine engineers. Please come a simple electric marine system one day!
Very helpful Thanks After this I realized that may be I have same issue on the forward gear the leaver goes in but it need same small pressure to engage and it doesn't stay firm in place like when it's on reverse this is done with the engine off Thank you

Thanks for posting an informative video. Can you tell me where Mr. Fong is located? I may be looking for a qualified Kanzaki shop depending on troubleshooting success. Thanks!

Many thanks Daniel Fong for a detailed explanation. I have a Yanmar YSM8. What transmission fluid do I use. Many thanks for your time.
