After years serving in the army and facing a medical release, we started to live a more self reliant life. We are currently building a new off grid homestead on 20+ acres. We will be building a cabin, garage / workshop, sugar shack for maple syrup production and more. We are hoping to inspire you to take control, live simple and make it happen in your own lives no matter what you face. We keep things laid back and fun along the way. Happy to have you here.

Love the foolishness between you two while your working. It’s nice that you can maintain that. Building or renovating together can be quite stressful. It’s also great that you have Sam along with you and still find time to acknowledge her imagination and artwork even though your trying to get stuff done. You are so right about the temperature dropping as soon as the sun goes down. You can go from a t-shirt to a winter jacket in about 10 minutes. Makes you want to quit building real fast.

Same as last time, bubble foil and skirted in. We like that cause no rodents can make nests under there and keeps the floor warm.

I think you should have put the pylons on 8 foot centers and used all 16 foot 2x10s exclusively. The short pieces would make me crazy. Just saying...comments from an old builder and master cabinetmaker. Love your segments, you two were made for each other!!
I have been saying the exact same thing behind the scenes. We did that on the last build but we went so back and forth on this as to what we were going to do that we just let the pile guy do his thing without much planning. It will still all be good though. Thanks Stephen.

Hey, this is a 20x30 cabin build with a 6' covered porch. Post Tech installed the screw piles for us.

That is from 'Duck Dynasty' / 'Duck Commander' we heard of Girl in the Woods but didn't know she said it haha. We didn't take any video of the butchering as we don't get much interest in that sort of thing on our channel unfortunately. We shared some pics in the community tab though if you want to check those out.

I’m an avid hunter and I love watching hunting videos from prep/set up through to butchering. Always great to get new tips!
@@robertcumming2035 We watched them on Alone a few years back, have watched a bit of them both, good people.
Editing can be burdensome so I'd suggest Tue, Thur and Sun for a 3 day schedule and Tue and Sat for a 2 day schedule doesn't require what you're working on the be completed regardless of a 2 or 3 day schedule keep videos to 30 or 40 mins, once or twice a month a live feed if so inclined. just my 2 cents (american)!
I agree that editing is the challenge but need regular videos to feed the algorithm. Not quite at stage for 1 video per week.
I would rather water 3 - 20 min vids than 2 - 30 min vids. But have been following since early days so comfortable any way they choose.

What happened to the other place that you repainted and put fire wood in the basement?
We are living in it while we build this place. Once this is complete we will move here. It is so nice to be able to do it all again in the proper location and not having to live in a camper in Canadian winter while doing so :)
