The Death and Resurrection of Asajj Ventress will probably be a Tales of the Jedi story arc. Quilan laid her to rest in the pools of Dathomir where the ichor, magick and spirits embraced her. That's pretty much the perfect setup for a Nightsister Resurrection.
Ventress actually does have a new saber hilt. Remember, Barriss stole her original hilts when she bombed the Jedi Temple. They would have had to lock the sabers away in the Tenple afterwards.
It's not quite that "There's no reason to be fighting." You gotta keep in mind, Ventress has slaughtered a LLLLOT of clones. It makes sense that the Batch would regard her as a mortal enemy.
I really enjoyed this ep. I'd say my worries abt The Bad Batch retconning a canon novel were fully disspelled as soon as Wentress said "I've got a few more lives left". It's clear that her death in "Dark Disciple" is still part of the chronology. What a brilliant line it actually was.
Something I noticed; at 13:03 when Ventress says “I wasn’t planning on killing you, but you’re making it very difficult”, the way she holds and then spins her lightsaber is IDENTICAL to Dooku’s iconic stance. She really has combined all her past experiences and training, from Dooku’s swordsmanship, to surviving likely with Nightsister magic, to attuning with the balance of the Force in animals and nature.
The SW website says this about Ventress: “Ultimately, Ventress sacrificed herself to save Quinlan’s life, taking the brunt of Dooku’s Force lightning during their final confrontation. But that wasn’t the end of Asajj’s story…” So her story should still be canon! The showrunners have also said there will be an explanation for her survival in future projects. I’m guessing it has something to do with Nightsisters. Bringing her back doesn’t bother me, and I loved seeing her again :)
in the book, it specifically calls out that the water starts glowing around her body....maybe somehow she returned to life through the nightsister magic.
Who woulda thunk when this series started, that we'd see Omega and Ventress be Luke and Yoda on Dagobah! And I love the link when Ventress calms the creature, done in the same way infant Ahsoka did in Tales; wonderful. I hate the line though "Omega will have to leave you if she needs trained" - I got a bad feeling for the soldier Bad Batchers...
I would really love to see this Ventress meet old man Obi-Wan. There are so many people who were broken by Palpatine and reforged themselves over the years of The Empire.
Bendu was bang on with his prediction, but instead of being unsatisfying it was thoroughly entertaining. It delivered the exposition they needed to understand what the M-count means (midi-chlorian name drop!) so they know the Empire is working towards force-related cloning, but they still don't know specifically why Omega is so important, and Ventress really didn't do anything else for them. But it was so cool! And she did warm them (and show them) that they're not as well hidden on Pabu as they thought. Plus it sets her up as a potential ally to Omega later ("You like us, I can tell").
After hearing M-count over and over again from the Empire scientists it's nice to hear a Force user refer to them as Midiclorians again. Take that fans who cringe at the word!
I'm not seeing a path yet to a happy ending for Omega given what we already know Palpatine somehow returned. Maybe there was something about Grogu, besides his high M-Count, that allowed Gideon to successfully complete Project Necromancer where Hemlock failed without Omega? I agree about bringing Ventress back for TOJ S2. It seems like the perfect opportunity to address so many fan questions about her return.
In a comic series (Obsession I think) Asajj apparently died, but went into a force healing trance until she could revive. Perhaps this is what happened when she took Dooku's lightning. Obi-Wan and Vos put her in stasis for 4 months then buried her in her home waters which are magical and healing... 😉
No, if she Purified a crystal it would be white. She could have gotten a yellow one off the black market and made it after a form she is most comfortable with. Remember she lost her lightsabers to Barris Offee.
LFG!!! Seeing Ventress with long hair reminds me so much of when we saw her backstory during the dathomirian resurrection arc in the clone wars. And she looks great with hair now in the Bad Batch! Even if they fought 3 to one, the hand to hand choreography is the sickest thing I’ve ever witnessed.
Just commenting to point out Ventress appears to be using Dooku's old form 2 and his dueling start position with her arm down to the side, both being pretty unusual for Force Wielders, especially of this era. Also, worth noting that Ventress is a pretty big deal as far as random Force Wielders around the galaxy, she regularly fought Anakin and Obi-Wan during the Clone wars like a DECADE prior to this show, and was trained by Dooku, one of the best Duelists of the time. She absolutely crushed probably the best Clone unit ever formed without breaking a sweat and subdued a pretty huge water creature with the force relatively easily. I'd argue she's probably even stronger in the Force than Ahsoka is at this point, and she still has control over the Dark side too as we saw her choking Wrecker. She's probably the 5th strongest Force User and Ligthsaber Duelist in the Galaxy at this point, after Palpatine, Darth Vader, Yoda and Obi-Wan, all of which notably were either Jedi Council Members OR Major Sith Lords.
The unreliable narrator is definitely present for the difference between how the Bad Batch opened with Order 66 and Kanan versus how Kanan's trauma-induced memories showed the same event in the Kanan comics.
Maul wasn't just a Sith he was a Nightbrother and his birth mother was Mother Talzin. Talzin gave her sons protective magick enhancements. Both Asajj and Maul have the force + magick addons.
Again... Zabraks are NOT native to Dathomir, nor are they the same species as Witches of Dathomir. There are enough genetic similarities with MANY of the "near-human" aliens across the galaxy of SW due to the meddling of progenitor Ancient races to allow interbreeding, some easier than others. (Twileks, Theelin, Zeltrons, etc). Zabraks SETTLED on Dathomir and were conquered by the Witches. Skill testing is not the same as Blood testing. As Ventress says, everything has an M-count. Higher concentrations make training to be an ACTIVE Force weilder easier. PASSIVE Force use is already done by EVERYONE who has an unnaturally good innate knack for something or are "lucky". We see this in [Piloting], [Mechanics], [Animal Affinity], [Empathy], [Martial Arts], [Gambling], etc...
Should Ventress show up in the Ahsoka series, she would be "advanced" in her age. Which would make Shoreh Agdashloo (of The Expanse fame) an ideal candidate for either the role or, more likely, the voice of an older, live action Asajj Ventress (since Ventress' voice already sounds a lot like Agdashloo's voice in real life, only younger), and should we ever get an adult live action Omega, the actress Frankie Adams (who played Bobby "gunny" Draper on The Expanse as well), would be the ideal candidate for that role, at least from my own personal point of view. And also, as a side note, any movies involving sharks (or any other water borne monsters, real or imagined), would not really be Kyle's cup of tea (like jaws, leviathan (1989), deep blue sea, deep rising, deep star six).
Seeing Ventress was a real treat and she’s come a long way since Clone Wars, also it was a bad move for the Batch to fight Ventress like they should know what she’s capable of
I don't keep up with the novels, so I didn't know she supposedly died. Very happy to see her back. She's a badass character and she doesn't get enough screentime. Also really loved her character arc, and seeing her come into her own like this is really cool. Btw NerdCronic edited out my favorite bit: when the Batch take out their weapons and she force pulls them away and says "no cheating" the irony! 😂
Guys, look at it this way: Ventress was "dead"...BUT, she was placed in a Dathomiri lake, and it wasn't that long after the deaths of Mother Talzin and nearly all of The Nightsisters (save Merrin and Morgan Elsbeth), who perished by General Grievous' lightsabers. As you said, Asajj Ventress has been on quite the spiritual journey...she's had hardship her whole life, was taken in by a Jedi Master, then, after his wrongful death, succumbed to The Dark Side...then, later, was found and trained as a Sith/Dark Side Assassin by Count Dooku/Darth Tyranus; only to be betrayed by him and Darth Sidious...then, became a bounty hunter, then connected with Quinlan Vos, enabling her to rid herself of much of the hatred that had propelled her to her powers; in a way, training in the ways of The Jedi, only to fall in love with her companion, and give her life to save him from her Former Master. She's danced on the line of pretty much all forms of The Force...The Light, The Dark (Sith and Nightsister), The Middle, The Living, and The Cosmic. As you noticed, Kyle, Ventress' face and body show signs of scarring/tattooing from Force lightning (which can happen in real life to those who have endured electric shock); perhaps, being filled with Dark Side Force lightening/energy, along w/ being submerged in the waters of her home planet, the Dark Magicks of The Nightsisters helped reconstitute her body, giving her, like The Night Troopers on Peridea (due to the conjurations of The Great Mothers), supernatural aspects, which may protect her from death itself, for a time? Look at it this way, also: Both The Living and The Cosmic Force DO NOT WISH to be snuffed out...which is exactly what is happening in the galaxy/universe, via the horrors perpetrated by The Emperor, Lord Darth Vader, The Inquisitorius, and The Empire. The Force has its own way of creating/enforcing BALANCE. Think of the time of The High Republic...the practices and machinations of The Path Of The Open Hand, The Mother, The Nihil, The Drengir, Marchion Ro, and The Nameless all created serious VOIDS IN THE FORCE, creating terrible imbalance. The same is happening here...who's to say The Force doesn't have a counter answer to The Sith...Ventress could be part of that cause, esp. considering how UNNATURAL Nightsister Magick is. Just look to the Inquisitor Marrok, for evidence of it. PLUS, it wouldn't surprise me AT ALL, if Dave Filoni and his Team have decided to re-introduce the comic series that was released just prior to ROTS, Star Wars: Obsession, in which, Ventress perishes, but gets reborn via Force Healing Trance/Nightsister Magick. Technically, this is canon, since Lucas okayed that TCW comic (before Disney got in to the mix), and it was the lead up to the events of Episode III...so, nothing's being retconned; only re-canonized. I'm all for it.
Ventress fighting The Bad Batch reminded me of the scene in Winter Soldier when Captain America was in the elevator 😂you knew it wasn’t going to end well 😂. Asajj Ventress taking on Omega as a padawan would be amazing!
I really like how Ventress has been reborn, and she looks like a jedi with her new yellow lightsaber. plus, she does her own Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon scene. also she be in here 30s now
Ventress and Gungi are the only force wielders that Omega has any confirmed experience with. Now, if an M-Count transfer does happen, she knows how she might utilize the Force to escape.
I definitely need to know how Ventress survived. They need to elaborate on this because none of what we've seen so far about Nightsister Magicks was anything like this. They brought back the dead, sure, but they were mindless zombies afterwards, not their old selfs. And yeah, i too think that this would make a decent story arc for a second season of Tales of the Jedi. Hell, i'd even take a mini-series centered on her. It could be interesting to see the Aftermath of Order 66 from the viewpoint of a Non-Jedi Force Sensitive who used to be a pawn in the big game Palpatine played. Also, just a side note: The variation of the Bad Batch theme playing when the Batch starts fighting Ventress is great.
You are right Kyle, Tech would have known it was her before she even came out of the shadows. Infact, he probably would have told them her whole backstory.
I love how you can still see Ventress struggling a bit with the light side when she accidentally summoned the sea monster. I really feel like this episode is setting up future Ventress content! I'd love her to star in another animated series, either in Tales of the Jedi or in her own series.
16:23 Yeah, Ventress kind of joined every house at Hogwarts :). Great episode. I get the canon objections but there're ways around it and to me, if canon is in the way of good storytelling then it can and should be bent, even fractured (albeit not outright broken).
It's a new Crystal, because Ventress lost her Lightsabers when that Jedi Padawan stole them to try and incriminate Ventress for the Bombing of the Jedi Temple....
LOVED seeing Ventress back! 💛 I don’t know a lot of the lore as you well knoweldged people, however if this episode spawns a spin-off of a Ventress series I’d be so super invested! 😍
@KyleKatarn, 22:32 That's the Sith's elixir, no? They desire to have everything; they can't let anything go, which is the opposite of the Jedi--"Train yourself to let go of everything you fear to lose," is what Master Yoda told Anakin when they last met. Their attachment to life, is what staves off death, and isn't that why Anakin survived his horrendous injuries? Hell, even Palpatine was shocked that he was still alive. Palpatine likely realized in that moment that he too could stave off death, and all he had to do was refuse it. Anakin showed him that the body, no matter how broken can still be a vessel, as did Maul. But Palpatine wanted more, a fully functional body and that's likely why he had his soldiers take Kamino and their cloning technology. He wanted his body, a fully functional one that he could hope to again and again if need be.
It is weird that Tech's file on Ventress didn't mention anything about what happened in Dark Disciple. It clearly didn't say she was presumed dead and wasn't she pardoned for doing the assassination on Dooku? The Batch were basing their view of her on early Clones Wars, the screeching Harpy.
Been waiting for your reaction! I loved this episode so much ❤😊. Saw the interview with Ventress's voice actress & the fact that explanation is still on the horizon makes me so excited 🎉
The test to get the blossom from the Tree and Return wasn't a test for Force Sensitivity.......it was a way to get Omega to leave for awhile because she heard the Clones talking about realizing who she actually was. She wanted to hash out the issue without Omega being around. Also Ventress didn't call the giant beast......it was drawn to the huge school of Jellyfish that Ventress summoned.....
When Ventress pulled out her lightsaber Bendu exhaled and laid back like he had just bust a force wielding tremendous... U know what I'm talking about. 🤷🏽♂️😁🤷🏽♂️
loved the fight between the the tree and Ventress, loved seeing her be the one who starts Omegas training but doubt she'll be a jedi, would be awesome. Def has some animal affinity
I think Omega summoned the vratheon. Ventress told her to reach out to everything. I think Ventress was only concentrating on the jelly fish and she said she didn't intentionally summon the vratheon.
yeah they been pushing more for force martial arts seen on screen, guessing prepping ppl for acolyte show with what the trailer show so far with hand to hand fights.
The fighting style Ventress is using is Echani Martial arts otherwise known as Teras Kasai....The Echani's fighting style is the Basis for most Jedi hand to hand combat.
Her eyes and mouth sure look like night sister markings to me.. like what happened to the night sis in Ahsoka when she leveled up.. what a joy to see Ventress with Omega and the Batch. Am I nuts or was it kinda hot when Cross hair offered her his hand? ❤
Hatred garners WILL to survive. Same thing as a mother staying alive longer to take care of their child and a worker staying alive longer because they have a job to do.
So, watching Omega go through Ventress's first test, there's a moment where Omega seems to actually have it. Ventress even starts scrutinizing her in that moment, looking surprised. I think Omega would have passed that test if the others hadn't been there. They were a distraction for her. But notice how Ventress never brings that up or tries to re-test. It's in Omega's best interest that she doesn't have force sensitivity, because to tap into that, she'd have to leave her family. And Ventress probably doesn't want to do that to a child if it's at all avoidable. I don't know if Omega will ever actually have aptitude with the force, but all beings have potential. And Omega does have the training required for patience and discipline. The problem with this is, while Ventress does seem to be trying to protect her, it doesn't do anything to get the empire off of her back. I think Ventress will come into play again, probably helping the Batch at a critical moment. Perhaps even be a catalyst for Omega leaving her brothers in an attempt to protect them from the Empire.
KYLE I think Ventress will come back later in the season! :) My huge evil prediction is that the Bad Batch will die protecting Omega, and Ventress will come back to rescue her and take her in as her new guardian/apprentice! Then there can be a new animated show that's a Ventress Omega show. :) Cause I saw talks that the animated teams got lots of new members recently so they've probably got a new show lined up for after BB ends. Plus this episode had that super foreshadowy talk about how the BB have to let Omega go...
There is a difference between having a phobia and a respectful fear. Just like I don't have a phobia of heights I'm still being very respectful about being on edges at height cause I know a fall could easily kill me, I have a respectful fear of potential predators in the dark. May that be in the sea or in the forest.
i am guessing the next animated series is going to be tales of the jedi season 2 wich could go on for years with perhaps somw luke episode or ezra episodes set during new republic i asume omega is still alive by the time of ahsoka show just imagine her beeing in the skeleton crew
BTW I HAVE A THEORY: it’s a sad one but I feel like the whole bad batch dies except omega and batcher so she only has ventress and she trains omega to become a Jedi. Look at the season 3 picture it’s of hunters helmet that has to symbolize like what happened on season 7 of clone wars Jesses helmet when he died.
Honestly she was too cool of a character to simply die in a book. Besides we don't have any female force user than Ashoka or Rey, we need more of her ! And honestly, she's even more interesting than Ashoka herself ! Her mixed origins between being a nightsister, jedi, sith and bounty hunter makes her the most appealing character since quite a long time tbh ! I'm looking foward to see what you and Bendu would think at the end of this season !
I love the B1 Battle Droid above Kyle’s right shoulder laid out like a super model posing for a glamour shot
"Paint me like one of your -French- Twi'lek girls"
Reminds me of certain hidden location in Jedi Survivor.

I'm pretty sure Dark Disciple mentions that Ventress has force lightning scars from Dooku on her corpse
"How did hatred keep Maul alive?"
"The darkside is a pathway to many abilities some consider to be... unnatural"
I always laugh thinking about half his body crawling around Naboo looking for a ship to get off planet.
It's not quite that "There's no reason to be fighting." You gotta keep in mind, Ventress has slaughtered a LLLLOT of clones. It makes sense that the Batch would regard her as a mortal enemy.

Ventress didn't directly summon the squid, it probably just followed the school of glowing jellyfish things that it eats.

I hope we'll see Quinlan and Ventress in Tales of the Jedi.

Funny how she said she has plenty of lives when they asked how she would be okay if the empire came after her
This was great one. Seeing her come back was so cool, I love her design too. I should look into that book, sounds interesting
You are right Kyle, Tech would have known it was her before she even came out of the shadows. Infact, he probably would have told them her whole backstory.
And you hit the nail on the head, lol. Ventress was NOT just talking to Omega when she said, "Enough questions. Focus!" Well played, Dave Filoni.
Right?! Pointing Omega's eyes right at the viewer 😆
Many thanks to Kyle, Bendu and Nerd Chronic! 💥
I love how you can still see Ventress struggling a bit with the light side when she accidentally summoned the sea monster.
I really feel like this episode is setting up future Ventress content! I'd love her to star in another animated series, either in Tales of the Jedi or in her own series.
Rumor has it that Ventress may be getting her own show in the future which would be badass!
Kyle did the Monster Bash.
It was a shipyard crash.
16:23 Yeah, Ventress kind of joined every house at Hogwarts :).
Great episode. I get the canon objections but there're ways around it and to me, if canon is in the way of good storytelling then it can and should be bent, even fractured (albeit not outright broken).
I think she got a new crystal personally. If she had purified her original crystal, it would have turned white, rather than yellow.
It's a new Crystal, because Ventress lost her Lightsabers when that Jedi Padawan stole them to try and incriminate Ventress for the Bombing of the Jedi Temple....
LOVED seeing Ventress back! 💛
I don’t know a lot of the lore as you well knoweldged people, however if this episode spawns a spin-off of a Ventress series I’d be so super invested! 😍
they don't retcon the dark disciple novel, but this implies that more happened after it
Anyone remembers the creepy kiss on the dying clone in Clone Wars? ....😦
@KyleKatarn,
22:32 That's the Sith's elixir, no?
Her just showing up with no contribution but the M count is literally what happened lol
Bendu nailed it 😅
Pretty much just like how Ahsoka was in 1 episode of Mando to tell Mando what to do with Grogu. I think we're going to get some sort of Ventress show.
lol@@KyleKatarnChannel
What is Ventress was resurrected by Merrin. Ventress was buried on Dathomir and Merrin was the only nightsistsr alive on Dathomir.
Would it be cool if we see Ventress and Merin on Dathomir rebuilding when Thrawn shows up...
I have been looking forward for this
Oh, how wonderfully choreographed that fight was! I'm so happy to have our girl back! Great reaction!
I wondering if this will bring Ventress back in the LIVE action TV SHOWS ….. Mandolorian and others.
I hope she gets her own TV SHOW.
“I have a few lives left” I freaking love Ventress, she has in my opinion one of the best story arc’s she’s definitely been through some shit !!!
Just like Bendu, I was smiling through the whole episode. Love Ventress 💜
The test to get the blossom from the Tree and Return wasn't a test for Force Sensitivity.......it was a way to get Omega to leave for awhile because she heard the Clones talking about realizing who she actually was. She wanted to hash out the issue without Omega being around.
Also Ventress didn't call the giant beast......it was drawn to the huge school of Jellyfish that Ventress summoned.....
ventress having dookus stance and similar lightsaber hilt is also super cool
When Ventress pulled out her lightsaber Bendu exhaled and laid back like he had just bust a force wielding tremendous... U know what I'm talking about. 🤷🏽♂️😁🤷🏽♂️
It's a shame Ventress is already spoken for. I, too, would be interested in a Crosshair/Ventress love affair.
CrossTress. ❤
I hope we see her again in Bad Batch but if not I REALLY hope she gets her own show or a major role in one.
Star Wars is like daytime soaps, no one ever really dies (haha).
loved the fight between the the tree and Ventress, loved seeing her be the one who starts Omegas training but doubt she'll be a jedi, would be awesome. Def has some animal affinity
Hold up Kyle I thought Ventriss’s lightsabers were taken by Bariss when she bombed the Jedi temple I don’t remember when that happened though
Her ship is like a commercial (non-military) B-Wing.
I think Omega summoned the vratheon. Ventress told her to reach out to everything. I think Ventress was only concentrating on the jelly fish and she said she didn't intentionally summon the vratheon.
This won't be the last time we see her.
yeah they been pushing more for force martial arts seen on screen, guessing prepping ppl for acolyte show with what the trailer show so far with hand to hand fights.
The fighting style Ventress is using is Echani Martial arts otherwise known as Teras Kasai....The Echani's fighting style is the Basis for most Jedi hand to hand combat.
We getting V+O spinoff, baby! And V’s theme is amazing, btw.
As someone who hasn’t read the book. Ventress return is only positive. 😊
Definitely my favorite episode so far
This makes me wonder more what role omega will play in the future
I'll go as far as saying that Ventress is actually part of the hidden path, she's hiding with Vos in helping jedi
imagine if asajj ventures meets merrin and cal kestis!!!
Her eyes and mouth sure look like night sister markings to me.. like what happened to the night sis in Ahsoka when she leveled up.. what a joy to see Ventress with Omega and the Batch. Am I nuts or was it kinda hot when Cross hair offered her his hand? ❤
She is similar in personality to Crosshair. Me thinks Crosshair was crushing on her!!
Finallyyy a reaction from u guys!!!!!!
Hatred garners WILL to survive. Same thing as a mother staying alive longer to take care of their child and a worker staying alive longer because they have a job to do.
It almost looks like she cleansed her crystal too!
She got a new one, her Lightsabers were stolen from her by the Jedi Padawan in Clone Wars.....so she had to rebuild a new lightsaber....
If Ventress does come back to help rescue Omega, she is going to give the BB an earful for not letting Omega go with her when they had the chance.
She got the new sable in the black market
KYLE I think Ventress will come back later in the season! :) My huge evil prediction is that the Bad Batch will die protecting Omega, and Ventress will come back to rescue her and take her in as her new guardian/apprentice! Then there can be a new animated show that's a Ventress Omega show. :) Cause I saw talks that the animated teams got lots of new members recently so they've probably got a new show lined up for after BB ends. Plus this episode had that super foreshadowy talk about how the BB have to let Omega go...
So if Omega has a high M count and she’s a direct clone of Jango Fett except for the gender swap does that mean Boba also has a high M count?
There is a difference between having a phobia and a respectful fear. Just like I don't have a phobia of heights I'm still being very respectful about being on edges at height cause I know a fall could easily kill me, I have a respectful fear of potential predators in the dark. May that be in the sea or in the forest.
i am guessing the next animated series is going to be tales of the jedi season 2 wich could go on for years with perhaps somw luke episode or ezra episodes set during new republic i asume omega is still alive by the time of ahsoka show just imagine her beeing in the skeleton crew
Except she’d be a grown adult by then so she wouldn’t be part of the “crew” but rather a support character
@@kennethjackson4716 right i forgot the time line abit there
BTW I HAVE A THEORY: it’s a sad one but I feel like the whole bad batch dies except omega and batcher so she only has ventress and she trains omega to become a Jedi. Look at the season 3 picture it’s of hunters helmet that has to symbolize like what happened on season 7 of clone wars Jesses helmet when he died.
That’s a sexy battle droid!
You's are late!!
Of course Ventress whipped their ass.😅
7:23 she’s in her early 30's, she’s not that old.
She's lived a hard life....there are 30 year olds in Real Life that look like they are 50......
