It sometimes hits me, as it must hit Ruth and Garrett… I watched this vessel become what it was from *nothing*, air, and a dream. Here they are gliding along. I am very glad that I can feel the tiniest amount of pride because of my support, it really makes a difference knowing that the small contribution I make each month has helped provide this feeling I have.
I have really enjoyed the entire build. I have been a subscriber since the engine got dropped in on the mountain. One of the best moments was the first "you're comin' too!" at the marina. Ruth was so excited and it was a perfect reaction. You should have left it alone as the 2nd and 3rd are really fake. Finally, take a moment to thank your patreons and subs (mainly patreons) who make it possible to live like you do and drink as much as you do, you owe them at least that. Good luck on your journeys and great job on the boat, it is beautiful. I am out!
Seven years ago, you dumped a load of concrete into a form, then you screwed a few lumps of wood together, got some fine people to stitch sails, tied a couple of knots in some rope, more friends shaped a few more bits of wood, a very pretty lady painted your bathroom, a happy puppy went to stay in a new home, and those few bits of wood, concrete, cloth, and rope (Oh and an engine that was kind of reluctant) - now you are playing with Dolphins, and living a dream that for most of us will only ever be that, a dream!! My goodness, I admire you guys so much!!! And we are coming too"!!!
Great episode. So proud of you guys for following your dreams. I’ve been sailing for over 60 years, all in Hawaii I appreciate your skills amd determination. I love your rig and it seems like your boat just about steers itself. Keep these videos coming!
It was in the summer of 1952 that I first visited Santa Cruz Island aboard the 35' motor yacht, Big Teez. In the tender, Little Teez, we rowed ashore at Prisoners Harbor, and hiked over to Pelican Bay, and Tinkers Harbor. I remember it as a lonely place in those days. You two are really bringing back memories.
Just imagine if all of us who were with them from the start, through the good times and the bad, could be there on those cliffs cheering them on! I’m proud of them, and proud of me for being the tiniest bit of support that I could give. I wonder how big that crowd would be? Love it! Bryan from Vancouver
I like where your SAILING channel is going! I will miss the building but I’m excited to have the privilege to tag along with you on your cruising adventures!
Your channel has always had one of the best musical mixes on RUclips. However, now away from the docks and having developed your skills of documentation and presentation to your audience you are a flower in bloom. Travel, adventure, and discovery documentarians you have become with the eyes of the artistic and a gift to find the best within this amazing planet we all travel. Beautiful episode. Sail onward.
I’m always impressed by that windlass every time you guys use it considering that the drum was in three different parts when you got it and the rest of the parts were just sitting inside of it in a pile and now it constantly pulls up all the anchor chain with a bit muscles!
I am just gobstopped by the beauty that is Rediviva an how very amazing this journey has been. Up to this very moment nothing short of Amazing! An those caves wowzers... Can't believe how very beautiful they were inside the Painted Cave mind blowing an breath taking at same time... Wow.... Thanks for sharing your lives with us grateful.....Fare winds and following sea's ✌🏼💗😊❣️
Santa Cruz Island is my favorite of the Channel Island. So many cool anchorages and caves to explore. Painted Cave is incredible so is Cuervo Valdez. Brings back so many great memories. I hope you get to check out Pelican Bay and the hike from there to Prisoners. You can spend weeks exploring the island...ENJOY!
You are the first channel I watch transitioning from building to cruising. I was wondering whether that would affect my enjoyment. It most certainly doesn't! Great filming, great adventure and amazing scenery! Thank you!
Really great seeing you out exploring sunny places at last. Redaviva looks swell bobbing about at anchor and magnificent when sailing. ATB regards from the UK
This journey you are sharing with us is just epic. I cannot even imagine being out there with you guys. Love the color or your nail also.... Have fun. And Thank You for sharing.
Hey I gave the first like, this has never happened to me before. usually when i watch your channel there are thousands of veiws already. Redadiva looks great and adventure on Santa Cruz Island looks like fun. You two have a great life! Thanks for sharing.
" I don't know if their feeding or fornicating! " hahaha O Ruth, thankyou for your a honest appraisal of the Dolphin's showing you a display of a feeding frenzy !! It's pretty cool eh! I love the wildlife that you get to share with us. Thanks ...beautiful world that God has blessed us with isn't it?
Although not a boat builder myself I have the childhood memories watching my folks build and launch their creations and I got to use them later.Happy sailing to the 2 of you. A truly remarkable mission completed.
Decided on your channel tonight, as off-grid living in November in the UK offers minimal solar for my laptop. Not disappointed at all! Santa Cruz is indeed amazing! Thank you so much! I'll be back, to warm my heart at my winter mooring on the Grand Union Canal.
I've watched you guys build her from the keel, should I would I could I she's a fine ship now you get to enjoy her, still lots to do. But now you can regenerate and enjoy what you've done kudos to both of you outstanding guys .Fairwinds👍🤞👀🍺
Garrett and Ruth, This was without a doubt y'all's best video ever. What a site: a plethora of eye candy; sailing, climbing, diving, exploring, a mastery of exploration and things to see . The painted cave is absolutely the finest cave that I have ever seen. I will have to check it out for myself; I can only imagine the experience of being there. I've been smiling like a grinning opossum ever since I watched the video. What a party. Thank y'all for sharing. JUST AWESOME! Ruthie: quite the poet, you are; "Hear We Stand, For How Unchanged They Are". Cheers! Blue Skies, Fair Winds, and Following Seas. Faithfully, James
Absolutely awesome video......I have to agree with the person who commented it is truly amazing to know that you started off with nothing but a dream.....and you have built mostly by hand this amazing vessel, that you are now living and traveling, and exploring on....I wish you both health happiness and safety along your way. You two absolutely deserve it .... Cheers....Bon Voyage...
My favorite sailing memory of Santa Cruz is a 4am anchor check in Pelican Bay, and the feeling of a warm summer offshore breeze with a large Cresent Moon high in the sky. Santa Cruz is a magical place.
I remember as a kid spending a week to two weeks there on my parents boat, drinking beers and having the best time of my life out there every summer if high school, parents somehow put up with not having a boat to use, just pay for, yet I had a blast out there I remember a start of a race from an anchorage out there, the dolphins were so thick you could walk from one boat to another on their backs if they held still, and they never do, what a nice day that was Use to be a couple of great whites that stayed near the painted cave to feed on seals they trapped inside, must have been good hunting for them
For those rocky beaches, you guys need to get some wading shoes, the mesh keeps your feet cool and the stiffer soles let you walk on more than water! Another nice addition would be a 'U' shaped Davit lifting frame. The lifting lines attach to the hinged 'U' and the dink is hooked on with snap hooks that are engaged with permanently mounted lifting rings on the dingy. Great in windy and rolley seas, you have something solid to hang on to and the dingy is restrained from sliding around. The lift sheave and the snap hook are both joined by threaded SS rod, so the 'U' is never really stressed. Just an idea for a future project when you run out of (Ha Ha) fixes and repairs...Yo Ho Ho ☠ where's the Rum!?
When you get a chance, grab yourselves a polarising filter for your camera. Preferably a circular polariser. It would make those shots of the Dolphins so much clearer by removing the reflected sunlight.
I found I was unsubscribed so I quickly re-subscribed. PS: Of all the sailing channels you have the best cinematography, all these takes outmatch each other, what a show.
Nice to be able to get to the islands so quick. It must have been surreal being the only people thereOther than the dolphins and seal lions. I have to say Ruth that your eyes are so beautifully a Blue and you were rocking that tee I’ve tiny bikini!
I didn't read all the way through the long list of comments, but I'd have to say, I love the abundance of dolphin activity, and that you all got to somewhat explore a "One-eyed Willy" type of cave. Just goes to show that Hollywood would really have to burn a lot of energy and lights to light up a cave the size of the one in that movie, the way it was lit. #GooniesNeverDie!
What I like about your sailing channel is that you are actually sailing. So many aren't. I've watched your dream develop and love that it is now coming true. Sail on!!!
We used to sail our families classic plastic it to smugglers cove and camp for week long or more trips. Loved hiking on the island, picking cactus berries and see the wild life. It was an amazing way to grow up, this brings back so many great memories.

I have watched every single episode and this is by far the best.
Watching you two live the dream you have built is absolutely epic.
Sweet time! Thanks for taking us along!!
Loved that transition from 14:30 - 14:50! From the past to the present. ❤️❤️
Yeah, this was fantastic highlight of the video.
Definitely the history added a lot to that part of the video!
My wife and I love your channel. This is one of your best videos yet. Ruth - the narration is beautiful. Great job both of you!
That was scary going into the dark like that. I hope you two get a drone to show some more of that beautiful geography.
That was so cool! I swear I was right there with you in the cave. I don’t easily get drawn in like that. Thank you!
Your documenting over the years has been just terrific!
Ruth: "Spectacular view!"
Me: I agree!! ;)
I'll third that thought. 😍
Sounds of waves hypnotizing
Lulling over and through me.
Hauling seines of calm.
Thank you for that

Oh man! You two are giving an epic start to your voyage!
I like where your SAILING channel is going! I will miss the building but I’m excited to have the privilege to tag along with you on your cruising adventures!
I'm so glad that such a place is not been 'civilized' but left as is!
Wow, those Dolphins 🐬 how beautiful. Thanks for sharing your latest adventure.

Beautiful episode.
Sail onward.
Simply stunning!!
Fair winds ⛵️
Dolphins on the bow, always means good luck on my boat. Cheers
It always amazes me when you see dolphins in the ocean swimming together beside your boat. It’s like being at Seaworld without the high ticket price!
Gorgeous sailing! I know you have heard it hundreds of times but its a true joy to see you two enjoying the fruits of your labor.
I'm enjoying your sailing videos as much as i enjoyed your building videos. Keep on keeping on.
Your laughter is contagious. 🤣

i have been watching you since the beginning. This was not only your best video ever it was the best of all the sailing vlogs I watch! Well done!
Great episode! You're cruising now! That photo comparison framed by the cave and seeing Rediviva in the same spot was really cool.
Out takes are always a chuckle.
Have you thought about building some benches in the cockpit so that you can sit and steer rather than standing for the entire passage?
You have grown into a sailing channel now. And a pretty awesome one that is! All the best for floating around the world!!!
Spectacular Indeed! Thank you for sharing all this!
Santa Cruz Island is my favorite of the Channel Island. So many cool anchorages and caves to explore. Painted Cave is incredible so is Cuervo Valdez. Brings back so many great memories. That mooring area east of Stearn's Wharf is called Fool's Anchorage because boats drag up on the beach every time it blows hard from the southeast.
Again, just the best. Thanks, guys.
Hey glad u met up with jay and his crew. We r good friends with him. Safe travels
Thanks so much for sharing this super interesting vidclip with us All..... Best wishes from New Zealand ....
Amazing!!! Thank you!

Crikey, even Garret would look good in that little grey number!
What an amazing place, look forward to seeing your videos every week.

Wow! Just wow! Perfect vlog, great playlist choices too 🎉
Thanks for this video. Really cheered me up on what is going to be a shitty day.
Another great adventure thanks for bringing us
That cave was awesome just wish you had brighter light.
I remember as a kid spending a week to two weeks there on my parents boat, drinking beers and having the best time of my life out there every summer if high school, parents somehow put up with not having a boat to use, just pay for, yet I had a blast out there

Thanks for the video. Loved it ❣️ You both look happy. I love the sea but the sea doesn’t love me. 😢 Happy trails❣️
A beautiful boat and efficient.
Cool coast line. Neat caves. Thanks for the tour.😁

You guys are so lucky! Your hard work paid off and you are living the DREAM! ❤️
It's not luck. It's the benefits of hard work...
Excellent, thanks for the ride along...
Wonderful video, thoroughly enjoyed it.
Wow,natures best .
As fall is coming on and winter is around the corner , I will be working on my boat in the cold ! Thanks for the inspiration !
The "then and now" pics were of Pulitzer proportions. Beautifully done. Bravo!
I love your channel, you are one of the number one channels i watch.
An amazing sailing episode.
Love what you are doing
I loved watching the Dolphins when cruising in the Sea Scouts
I’m 66 so a dad and I worry about you guys jumping off cliffs- be careful!!! Sending good sailing energy 🎉you are awesome!!
Good job. Lots of fun. What you deserve after all the hours of work you both put in.
WILD
that was such a great adventure video !
Your ratlines are a big hit with everybody, myself included. Your vlog technique just keeps getting better and better, hard as that is to imagine.
I found I was unsubscribed so I quickly re-subscribed.
PS: Of all the sailing channels you have the best cinematography, all these takes outmatch each other, what a show.
Guys, just an observation, you need to install hand rails on the coach roof top and some life lines for when it gets rough.
Thank you for sharing
No matter where you venture You just can't get enough if the Jolly men who swim with your vessel and Always Smile! And make you do the same!
Nice to be able to get to the islands so quick. It must have been surreal being the only people thereOther than the dolphins and seal lions. I have to say Ruth that your eyes are so beautifully a Blue and you were rocking that tee I’ve tiny bikini!
livin the dream.

Glad you guys are sailing this is awesome thanks 🙏
Wonderful. I almost feel like I'm there, but from the comfort of my couch potato life. Have a great week!
Have to say your laugh is contagious
As Jeff said below, those photos from the past were a great add!
What I like about your sailing channel is that you are actually sailing. So many aren't. I've watched your dream develop and love that it is now coming true. Sail on!!!

That was a awesome video.. Been watching since the start... Cant wait for more awesome videos... Good luck in your adventures and be safe...
Very pleasing! The lines of Rediviva against the backdrop of the large mountainous rocks!
