Hi, it's recommended to grease the brew group according to the amount of coffee made: If you make 1-5 cups of coffee per day, lubricate the machine every 4 months If you make 6-10 cups of coffee per day, lubricate the machine every 2 months If you make more than 10 cups of coffee per day, lubricate the machine every month We hope this helps!
Recently our two year old EP5447/94 started to emit steam from inside the machine. The larger O ring on the boiler stem was damaged, causing a leak. The O ring was completely dry and perhaps this may have caused the premature failure of the O ring? Perhaps some grease applied sparingly to the O rings should be part of the lubrication schedule. A new O ring solved the problem.

No. Just clean it with cold water. Don’t use warm water, because it will dissolve the grease and then you’ll need to apply it more often. Also, don’t wipe dry the greased parts. Just shake off the water and you’re done.
Hello, thanks for your comment. While we understand your concern, using grease on the brew group of your espresso machine is completely safe. It is recommended to lubricate this part of the machine regularly to ensure that all the mechanical parts continue to move smoothly. Moreover, the use of this grease on the brew group does not mean that you are ingesting the grease in any way - rest assured, you are not! The grease is meant to stay on the inside of the machine on the surface of the brew group, it does not flow into your coffee. We hope this eases your doubts, but feel free to let us know if you have any other questions!
Hi Reiniard, good question. Lubricating the brewing group is only necessary after you've been using the machine. We advise the following: f you brew 1 to 5 coffees a day, lubricate every 4 months. If you brew 6 to 10 coffees a day, lubricate every 2 months. Hope this helps.
