Great Video! I argued with the place we bought our hot tub that I could shock with Chlorine and Sanitize with Bromine and they said NO but I knew I had seen this before and your video makes me feel much better about how I am sanitizing my hot tub. Thanks

Can I use the same chlorine granules for both sanitizing and shocking, or do I need different products? The chlorine granules I have give instructions for routine sanitizing and shocking.

I add a little chlorine after each use as well as non chlorinated shock once a week as well as an anti scalant. Am I doing it right? Also use enzymes halfway between shocks.

I have a 2021 Coleman sal spa 3-4 people inflatable hot tub.
Does anyone know if I have to still shock it after filled for the first time and even if the test levels are good?
And if so, how much shock do I use for approximately 350 gallons of water?
    And last,
Do I turn on and leave the blower running thru out the process??

Fun fact: if you are smelling a bunch of “chlorine” at the pool it’s because little kids and adults are likely peeing in it and that’s the contaminants lol

I've had a hot tub for 5 years. All professionals say to make sure the chemical levels are perfect, so that's what I do. I also follow the routine cleaning recommendations from the manufacturer. That said, I have never used shock.
Why does it seem like professionals don't care about testing procedures for shock? The video says that shock removes shampoo, lotion, makeup, sunscreen, and dead skin cells. How can I test to make sure I have too much makeup in my hot tub, or that the amount of sunscreen is at a dangerous level? Is there even known levels that are too high or dangerous for these things?!
I don't think this is some kind of conspiracy. I'm sure shocking a hot tub does exactly what the professionals say it does. I just don't know exactly when a hot tub NEEDS to be shocked. To say that everyone should do it about once a week doesn't make any sense to me.

We've never shocked ours either. I'm very confused. We use stabilizing chlorinated granules basically daily, which says dichloral in the chemical name. Have wee been doing it wrong for 2 years? 😆

The companies normalize it to sell products, I never shock in my case, 10k g pool, I have balanced water and I test with Taylor test kit, fc and tc. U may need to slam or shock if ur spa is overloaded and ur chlorine is all used up, u can use mps non chlorine shock to free up ur used chlorine to make available cl.
