You didn't read properly. The cost of "training" the model is cheap (6 million$ that too only base model) not making the model itself. Inventing your own model requires a lot research and money.
Although, I doubt China's claim of 6 million$. It's very unrealistic. They are hiding something. This might not be the actual amount.
India could just copy deepseek makes some changes and call it Indian GPT since it's open source you can just download it and change it

I have read many papers but to sum up R1 has five main advantages *1) it gives you the reasoning behind its thoughts, you can find and tell it to correct it's mistake if you find one 2) it is much more DEPLORABLE it's like when they first invented Personal Computer PC!! You don't have to have a huge Data center or large amount of GPUs to run it, in fact, you can even run it on your phone without internet 3) it is cheaper and faster of course 4) most of all it is free 5) open source so you can open you can edit it update it any way you like*

Wake up call? What does it mean? Does the speaker understand what he/she speaks? It seriously means the direction you have been going is unproductive-you have to change course, change direction.
