You fail to mention that since they were minors at the time and would have had to have their parents sign the legal documents for them to get entangled into this in the first place. They should have filed suit against their parents not the studio. They being minors would have no legal rights on signing any legal document to begin with. So it makes no sense on why they would file a law suite against the studio. I think the whole thing lawsuit was a money grab pure and simple trying to follow in on the coat tails of the “ Me too movement “ If a lawsuit was to be brought it should have been filed over 50 years ago when both actors would have been young adults and legally able to do so.
I agree that the discussion about the appropriateness of underage on-screen nudity. Should historical works be judged by historical standards or by contemporary standards? The poor lady (Olivia Hussey) has died. The film was a masterpiece and I think it would have been so, without the controversial scene. That said, this is an important conversation to have. I have seen interviews of Olivia Hussey and Leonard Whiting during the period of time that this lawsuit was filed in court. I would like to see those interviews sometime, in order to better understand their perspectives. I can understand that had their been parental or intimacy counselors involved, that would have been helpful. The quick exposure to international fame brought by this incredible performance of this Shakespeare play, must have caused lots of unease to these two young actors. Ms. Hussey described herself as being very shy, and I can believe that the toll on her emotionally was tremendous. Finally, the amount of damages in the lawsuit was $100 million as the author of this youtube claims. Quite a lot of money, but not $500 million.
What is the Asterix she is referring to, I've never heard of it. The two family names are Montague and Capulets?
Too little too late 🤔🤔🤔🤔🤪🤪🤪
