The generation who sang that NA, are the same generation who destroyed Nigeria,
looted and murdered her own citizenry (Biafra genocide). You reckoned people were
consulted before the old/new NA was agreed upon before independence. So why are
Nigerians not consulted before it was brought back last week? In all, wordings
or slogans will never ever change anything, you rightly said the politicians are all about
themself, so why are we deceiving ourself with a NA. It is a distraction and a complete
    waste of time.

The NA as sweet as it is can you see the reality on ground and tell if it correspond to the wordings. @mrld1839 Igbos destroy naija. The greed of Ironsi and Azikiwe made them plot a coup which Ifeajuna and his hired gangs of soldiers executed on 15th January 1966. Ironsi then overthrew the government and destroyed a fully restructured system we inherited from Britain and introduced Decree 34 unitary system that killed naija.

It's so funny, that some are saying, the anthem has colonial connotations, what about the ENGLISH, we speak? What about our ENGLISH dresses? If colonisation is the issue, then, we can do away, with ENGLISH & their dresses, we keep wearing. Wisdom is profitable always.

Management of funds on the people of the state. Why don’t you just focus on the fact that a clear and clean conscience fears no accusations. He should simply go and defend himself if he knows he has done no wrong. Your level of journalism is very poor and reasonably unpatriotic to the suffering masses.

Prof is not making sense with regards to the old/new national anthem, is prof saying that he and other Nigerians does not half the sense or the brains to write a national anthem? Is prof saying that the national anthem " Arise O Compatriots" that we wrote ourselves was written by mumu people ? If that is the case, then it is useless for us to have so called proffesors. This prof should realize that we don't need the anthem written by a white woman. There is nothing wrong with " Arise O Compatriots" all this defense of the old/new anthem is absolute rubbish, prof's generation is a wasted generation just like Soyinka said.

As much as I love and respect you Prof , i totally disagree with your submission on the national anthem. The question was, what was the importance of changing the anthem with the current predicament of the country.
Nice history, several flash points to hold on too but you are absolutely correct but unfortunately at the wrong time.
Secondly, you mentioned the youths are only prominent on the social media when you know fully well how your generation have made it so impossible for the youths to break into Nigeria political space of today. Similarly like that last question that was asked if your u were to be called to serve in the judiciary your response isn’t any different from what you are painting the youth . In 3-4 years, that’s enough for you to shake things up in the Judiciary.

The El-rufai investigation by Kaduna house of assembly is completely political, some people are afraid of El-rufai because of 2027. Governor Uba Sani knows very well that, he can't able to win Kaduna come 2027, he doesn't have the capacity and the political will to do so. That's why he is all his possible best, with the collaboration of the Tinubu led administration and the southern Kaduna, to destroy Mallam El-rufai politically and his political structures and to ban him El-rufai, so that he shouldn't be able to contest against the the president in 2027. At the same time sponsor anyone against Mallam Uba Sani in 2027.

The wording of the national anthem is surely not “our own dear native FLAG” as just sung by Chief Ozekhome but “our own dear native LAND”. It is all too messy how much confusion, misinformation and ignorance is peddled in our country. Very few actually take the time to research and know the correct lyrics of the national anthem - whether old or new or NEW OLD national anthem. It is particularly embarrassing when those in high office in the country don’t know the wording of the national anthem. It is worse when these people come in public to “chew mouth” or blatantly sing the anthem with the wrong words.

Solving Nigeria's mounting problems has little or nothing to do with the lyrics of the National Anthem. Nigerians are too hungry; too traumatized by the insecurity in the country that many of them did not care to know or reflect on the lyrics of the new National Anthem. The newly introduced old National Anthem will not face a different attitude from the people. Not less than 90 per cent of Nigerians are operating at the physiological level of Maslow's hierarchy of needs. Introducing a self-actualisation need at this state of the country's struggle, to me and many others, is a 'treasonable' distraction.

Patriotism starts with those running things. Are the leaders patriotic? I can’t believe in Nigeria more than the president, governors and senators. Where they go, we shall follow.

Only antidote to corruption is godliness with contentment.
Resist the temptation to compete with your peers in life.
No matter how much you pay a greedy and insatiable man, he remains a kleptomanic.

The old national anthem was so good that it led to a series of coups and laid the foundation for the destruction of Nigeria that we face today. What a lovely anthem. 🤣🤣🤣

I totally disagree with you dear Prof Mike, and this is my first time disagreeing with you. The reintroduction of the National Anthem in this economically excruciating situation of the country is a misplacement of priority. People are dying of hardship and you are here talking of reintroduction of National Anthem. May God open the eyes of the elites of this country to see the degree of pain people are going through.

That second and third part of the anthem is a mirage, and it's a very trivial issue presently
