This Mercedes looked beautiful after the work you had done to it Matt. It really didn’t look 14 years old, it would grace anyone’s driveway, and still have prowess on the road. As always, great video, I really admire the lengths you go to, in order to make a car the best it can possibly be😊.
I've always thought this, but now it has to be said...I would feel very secure buying a used car from you. You do your due diligence and really care about the state of the cars you sell on. As always, great video for a fine automobile. The next owner will be lucky to have gone to High Peak Autos.
Came across your videos by accident when looking at reviews for a car I was thinking of buying. Now I'm hooked. I can't believe the lengths you go to to make sure the buyer gets a great deal and car. You go above and beyond. If I lived up around the Stockport area I definitely buy all my cars from you. Your a decent and trustworthy guy. Great videos mate.
A cheap luxury car doesn’t mean cheap running costs, the costs remain the same when they were new. I prefer the 7 series over these but can appreciate an S class. Great video.
Great video Matt,as always. We have had a number of Mercedes with this engine, and they are superb. I hope that you get your asking price for this lovely car. Whoever buys it is getting tremendous value for money, in my honest opinion. Kindest regards and best wishes.
the more i watch your videos the more i feel like there is no way other used car seller would do a proper inspection and maintenance given how much it reduces the profit in the end
If you look at AutoTrader, you can see that there are dealers that appear conscientious, and have good reviews, and at the other end of the scale there are dealers that clearly do no prep at all. There are also dealers across the midde ground. I have also read adverts by private sellers who bought their cars from dealers with great reputations, but have nonetheless had to spend large amounts to get the cars right. Most of the time Matt seems to go the extra mile, but there have also been times when he hasn't done jobs that I think should have been done and also the odd occasion when he's said he was going to do something that he didn't do. Of course, at the end of the day he's in businesss to make money. That said, I wouldn't hesitate to buy from Matt. It's pretty clear that he tries to do everything he can to make sure there will be no issues for his customers, but if anything major goes wrong in the first three months he bites the bullet and authorizes the repair or buys the car back, and that's reassuring. There's also another way to look at Matt's approach. Time is money and reputation is very important. It eats into profit to have to deal with faults after the cars have left the yard. There are also plenty of people who make a big deal over the smallest things, and also change their minds and look for any reason to get their money back. And these are also the people most eager to leave bad reviews. If you're a decent person like Matt, it's cheaper in the long run to do everything one can to prevent issues, and to have high levels of customer satisfaction. It also means that he can confidently ask higher prices. Overall, I'm sure he is actually making higher profits and building an ever stronger business.
I drove a W221 300D LWB for 13 years from new and it was a wonderful cruising machine, bringing the kids to school and me onto work every day. 100km / 60mile round trip. Totally reliable, as I serviced it according to the schedule. Honestly only sold it as annual road tax in this parish exceeded £1250 per year. Got near nothing for it because of annual tax. Lacked Bluetooth music, the Bluetooth phone function took for ever to synchronise contacts and after 13 years it was time for a change. First world problem.
@@KartsAgainstHumanity That's the road tax we have on a 2.8L car. No surprise over that 20% of new car registrations are EVs here, where the annual road tax is only £100 or so.
Quite a storied car there mate, W221 still looks really good years later. Anyway, i think if you guys there in UK/Ireland had an old car to sold, you can import those cars here to Indonesia, here it’s rhd just like you guys & also people right here had quite a big appetite for used european cars as used car tax here is going down as the car gets older.
A beautiful, used example of Merc S Class. Looks much newer than 2009. Slap on a private plate it could look more like a 2014 car. Hope new owners enjoy this black beauty. Well done Matt
What a gorgeous car. Perfect spec, in my book. I'd be tickled to have one. Unfortunately we only ever got the W221 in the long-wheelbase form here in the states, which I think is far too stretched. I much prefer the aesthetics of the shorter S classes, same goes for the A8s and the 7-series' of the world.

That’s a lovely car. I’ve got an E320 sport diesel of the same age (but 164k on the clock!); well specced and panoramic roof. We had one, a 4Matic, and never had a single issue. We bought it with 120,000 km, and sold it w/ 300,000. Driving often in Germany, and in CH. The 4WD is really capable in snow, with the air suspension, we managed through quite deep snow. A very good car. However, we normally have SUV + Station wagons, not sedans. Allways Diesels, since 1975 !
What’s your advice to us always? “Never buy a car like this and expect it to be cheap to maintain“! That said it did look amazing when it was finished, the interior looked mint. Great vid as always 👍🏻
Nice one Matt. Instead of buying a crappy electric car, you've gone and saved another classic! Always loved this era of Mercedes, so whoever buys this is gonna have a hell of a lot of car!
Hi Matt, Really enjoy your videos and this is no exception. A common thread I find in your cars is that the aircon isn't working. You always seem to suggest that a re-gas will sort it. I'm interested as to how many times this rectifies the issue? Why do people not have their cars regassed, it's comparatively inexpensive but I feel that more often than not, it's something more 'vital' like a condenser and/or compressor. I've never been that lucky when I have bought 'older' cars! Keep up the good work!
I bought a 2002 S500 for £1500 3 years ago. It's mint, I service it and do about 10k a year in it. You can buy an older luxury car BUT you need to either be mechanically competent (including the ability and tools to utilise the diagnostics) or be willing to pay some hefty garage bills.
As always Matt prestige cars likr Mercs wear out the same as more popular cars! (I have a Ford Focus Edge with about 159000 miles and only service items needed - like cam belt water pump / alternator etc. Body is excellent!
It's a lovely old thing to waft around in! While you were burning up the Pounds, I think I would have ordered a custom shaped rear registration plate to fill the panel!
This period of S-Class still looks modern and luxurious without all the screens and quilted leather of the current model. Assuming the a/c is now sorted, it will be a bargain.
Diesel fuel over here on our side of the pond is more expensive than petrol, but with that kind of mileage, it would be worth it. My last car, a 2001 e320 gas engine, only got 16 mpg. 😮 No used car dealer over here does what you do, Matt. You're lucky the wheels don't fall off the minute you take possession of a used car. 😂😅😂😅
Diesel here is also more expensive than petrol cheapest diesel in my area atm is £1.52 a litre while petrol is £1.45 a litre. Roughly converts to about $8 per gallon for petrol and $10 per gallon for diesel.
I got My 2009 S class W221 for £2900, was a bit unloved tbh, and no service history, but got it looking nice now with a set of AMG alloys on it, it’s My daily driver for the last year or so, fantastic cars Matt.
I recently sold be beloved 221 400 hybrid. I hated to part with it but the hybrid battery was going bad and they wanted over 10k euro so I said bye. W221 is by far my favorite model in modern years. Great find!
In 2009 I joined a company as Business Development Manager, I was scheduled to have a Saab 96 Convertible, the Saab dealer unfortunately crashed the car on a test drive, my company had an S class belonging to Directors Wife, I was asked if I would like this, it ran like a dream for three years it was replaced in 2013 with a 5 series, I still miss that comfortable barge ❤
Such a smart looking car and now thanks to you back to its original showroom finish that will not hang around long hope you are well mat best wishes ian
I have made this point before about BMW's but when you see these older luxury barges without heated seats I think it's only because nobody who spent 60 grand on a car at the time even thought to think if they were included. It's hard to believe that Mercedes were still such penny pinchers that you had to pay for an option you'd get for free in a Corolla of the time.
As opposed to today's BMWs, which want to charge you a monthly fee to use the seat heaters. (admittedly, the apparently backpedalled from that, but for a few months there, they were quite serious with this joke.)
I don't see the problem with that. The lifetime cost of subscribing to the seat heaters will be about the same as buying them outright over 3 years and you can choose to have them or not. In fact - just subscribing over winter and you can have them without paying for them to be permanently there.@@pitecusH
I took a shot in the dark with that one. You're probably right. My point is that there's no way a 60 grand car should expect people to pay for for arse warmers@@horvathr95

The problem is, you can no longer pick one up for under £5k

As always Matt prestige cars likr Mercs wear out the same as more popular cars!
(I have a Ford Focus Edge with about 159000 miles and only service items needed - like cam belt water pump / alternator etc. Body is excellent!
Great detail of the Mercedes with costs and information about what you have done..I am on the lookout for the exact model in your video 🤔🤔👍
Nice one Matt - nice colour combo interior with exterior, agree with the slight 'Maybach' similarities. I'd be very tempted - lot of car right there.
I love them especially the Facelift W221s.
Great example and buy as always Matt!
Lovely car, love the driving position of a big old merc.
It's a lovely old thing to waft around in! While you were burning up the Pounds, I think I would have ordered a custom shaped rear registration plate to fill the panel!
great vid should have bought that for my next taxi thanks again for all the effort
I’ve always wanted a Merc. The kit on those is pretty good.
I love these old W221s... Look after them and they'll cover intergalactic mileages...
This period of S-Class still looks modern and luxurious without all the screens and quilted leather of the current model. Assuming the a/c is now sorted, it will be a bargain.
Great video & a genuine assessment as usual 👍🏼
Nice to know you managed to get to my hometown of 'ULL
Diesel fuel over here on our side of the pond is more expensive than petrol, but with that kind of mileage, it would be worth it.
My last car, a 2001 e320 gas engine, only got 16 mpg. 😮
No used car dealer over here does what you do, Matt.
Hi Matt, these are the kind of car's I like you buying and bringing them back.
Great find!
Absolutely those W221's have certainly aged very gracefully, a mate of mine out in Bulgaria owns the 550 V8 it's an absolute beast.
A car like that doesn't look right without privacy glass.
If the rims were black then you would be on point. However, the car looks better without the tinted windows when the rims are silver.
Lovely looking barge for the dosh. Wot a motor. Not on your website, so sold already I guess.
Love you videos, keep up the good work. 🙂
"You live and learn".... is becoming the High Peak strap line - bloody lovely car though
This era of Mercedes S Class screams Japanese gangster (Yakuza) car, although ironically it was also around the time where the Yakuza started to fall
That's some car for that money Matt! Another gem
I have one of these a 320 Cdi LWB and I love it absolutely love it.
Great video again - very informative
Great effort again Matt. I may oneday buy a car off you to export Downunder 😊
Such a smart looking car and now thanks to you back to its original showroom finish that will not hang around long hope you are well mat best wishes ian
Tip: Move around the rims with you fingertips and you instantly feel every damage to the rims. Some rims can become a expensive nightmare.
I bloody love this guy
5:23 with the electric motor, it would give a lot more pulling power so a rav 4 would make a fantastic towing car
There's no way heated seats was a basic option in a Corolla.
I took a shot in the dark with that one. You're probably right. My point is that there's no way a 60 grand car should expect people to pay for for arse warmers@@horvathr95
Yeah i dont think a corolla has luxury features like heated seats 😂😂😂
Nice refurb, Matt - and what an excellent car now with beautiful cream leather and woody... My kind of car! 👍
Lovely looking car Matt keep the videos coming 👍
