I own studio one 5 and bitwig 5, but I mainly use Reaper because I find it easier to work with and more stable.
I thought bitwig would be awesome so i impule bought it, but I found it's made more for sound designers and modular synth guys and not so great for recording. All those cool features and the grid is just stuff I'd never use. Ableton seems cool, but I only have the light version and not about to spend another $800 on the suite.
I do my midi production and stuff in Maschine, then use Reaper when it's time to mix and record.
@@EricJohnson-fh8zj amazing feedback. Thanks for breaking it down. Your scenario makes perfect sense
I use Bitwig for most of my Pre production and I also use Protools for Mixing And Mastering also! I need Bitwig because I use lots of outboard Gear and Modular gear and it plays really good with everything for my needs! It's not for everyone I'll say, it does have a specific workflow and its developers came from the Ableton Team originally! Most of your gripes here are very possible in Bitwig and maybe I'll do a video on some on them in the near future, because there are many new producers that are getting curious about Bitwig! The new effects and Mixing tools in Bitwig make it just as capable as many other Daws but, chopping up Audio is not a strong point of it either! Studio One and Protools will still be the King of that Workflow! Another Monster feature as a Synth Programmer and Maker of original sounds is "The Grid".. I use it on every composition but I also program for Reaktor and make custom ISM modules and effects as well? Lots of possibilities here! Good Video! Bitwig is not Studio One so take your time and learn it, definitely worth it!
@@drewbin101 really kool drew, preciate you chiming in.

@@bexiexz I’m excited. Thanks for the feedback.

A native gear for Bitwig - damn „heaven on Earth“. The theme-discussion is a mess. Bitwig looks pretty cool and themes has no advantages on productivity. And shure Bitwig has a slicer - one of the coolest. Also the sampler is a beast - but offers the possibilities after deep dive.
The concept, especially the modular stuff is class of it’s own and really unique. S1 Drum sequencer is worldclass.
Your Block-Topic. I use a block Technologie every day in Bitwig. Just add a track in top of all tracks. Group all under that track. Add empty clips like intro, chorus, vers …onto that track - done… you have a nice arranger system.
Bitwig does have a slicer bro. But the steps are quite different as other daws. What you have to do for the slicer to show is this > you have to drop the loop into the multitrack window then right click on it and it will show an option called Slice/Fold and there you can slice the loop as you wish. If you want it into a "Sampler" you have to choose the option called Slice to Drum Machine and then Choose Slice Raw and the Slice At option choose Onset. That's the way to do it.
@@haroldbones84 will try that. Thanks
@@haroldbones84 I tried this method, and realized I’ve done this before. So there’s no slice function in the sampler, it’s just taking a sample and using the slice function in the right click menu to slice and then send to drum rack as several samplers with different start points. This feels so much like studio one. This is the work around when you want to use the impact drum machine
Well it is what it is. That’s the workflow. Thanks for sharing that. I totally forgot for about it and will make another video to address it
You qualified brother...for sure!!
Im a Komplete ultimate user, and from my experience using multiple instances of Kontakt doesnt use any more cpu than setting up one instance as a multi out to several.
Ive also saw a video basically showing the same thing. Using multiple instances was able to run the same amount of tracks as using 16 channel outs before the cpu maxed out. Like 60 instances on a M1 pro mackbook.
@@EricJohnson-fh8zj sweet. Preciate the feedback
Yeah, Ableton has some cool stuff, but I disliked the look of it so much that I could never get locked into my creative zone using it. The look actually uninspired me which was frustrating.
Interesting. I’m the opposite
themes exist besides you can add your own colours to track and save as template
I love the way Bitwig looks but that's not to say that being able to customize the theme wouldn't go a miss.
Nothing wrong in seeing if something else floats your boat.
Unfortunately it's not possible officially as of yet but if you want to change it up Polarity recently done a video (someone else did but sorry name doesn't spring too mind but will reply should it do so) showing how to hack Bitwig and change the theme
Bitwig looks like a "toy". There is no option to support official theme changes. I like Bitwig, but to work with after 2-3h it's hurt my eyes.
I get it. I wish for solid polished look but it's ok for now until then
