Sir, are these smart speaker work as flawlessly in India as in USA? Are they integrated with home appliances?
If your smartphone devices use Zigbee it would work with echo plus even in India, I plan to add some smart switches to control lighting via alexa.

You know behind Alexa are real people listening to your everything happening in your home .I know people covering the Canadian french accent .it's like a spying tool I wouldn't get something like Alexa or any Machine responding to the voice as everything basically happening in your place is recorded

Sir echo dot i can buy this is good
Yeah the functionality is the same even for Echo Dot........ Apart from the Zigbee support for Smart Homes that is only on the Echo Plus. I actually first stated using Alexa only with the Echo Dot but I paired it to my Bose speakers via bluetooth for music as the speaker on the Echo Dot is pretty small.
