It has been a year since the recording of this video but I am so happy I found it. I have read almost all of Melody’s books and have very worn and read copies of a 1987 copyright Language of Letting Go and 1990 copyright of Codependents Guide To The Twelve Steps. And while recovering for many years, I still read my 1990 copyright of The Language of Letting Go meditation book almost daily. Yes, I am codependent but Melody and her books have saved my life, helped me to grow, get through the suicide deaths of my daughter and brother and be excited about letting go of others and finding “Me”. As Melody stated, it has not happened over night, but my recovery continues and I am excited about it. THANK YOU MELODY! You, your books and my God have kept me grounded and given me direction. God bless.

….too self-involved, too much political anger, and vaguely dishonest. How can any of this be believed?

This was really good. I’m sorry about your son, heartbreaking. And yet you produce this work that helps so many. Codependency is such a subtle subject and I’m so glad that you brought language and a process to something that has plagued me and yet I couldn’t put words to.
I have adjusted so well that people can’t see who I am as a codependent. But I don’t feel comfortable with myself and I’m always looking to help someone or I don’t feel my existence is justified. I’m super hard on myself no matter what I do.
I need to learn how to be and trust.
    Thank you again.

Melody is a gift from God… She would never admit to that, she’s very humble, which just makes her that more affective… I just love her videos and her books

When my “control” of my life collapsed, that’s when I turned to drugs to cope. I’m still learning to love myself 17 years later. With this book, I’ve finally figured out why my drug addiction developed!

I’ve had this book for over thirty years. ( copyright 1990)My mom and met her a book signing at a church. I believe the book had just came out. Very fond memories of a beautiful day with my beloved Mother!❤ Melody was so pretty and nice I was so excited to meet her. Great day. That little was a bible for me for years. I just pulled it off the bookshelf today, Melody signed it so eloquently to me.
    Thank you Melody❤

You don't have to be a controlling person to suffer from codependency. You will become codefendant if your loved one is suffering from addictions. Your natural need to care for and protect a child will put you into that state if you have a spouse who is addicted, or if the child herself falls into addiction. This book helped me see how I, a complete stoic otherwise, became the most enabling, least logical, and very deluded control freak of this one area of my life. The reason is that you just can't accept the fact that your plan for life isn't working. It is natural to expect it to happen, but the effects are just as disastrous as they would be if you were the addict, actually worse since addiction can sometimes only affect a single person, while codependency affects families and /or friends by definition.
