Check out our interview with him regarding releases, High Bias and more below:
BN: Where was the beginning for you? What was your first set up?
E: I started making beatsaround 2013 but I've been making music forever - playing guitar / drums in bands. My first set up was a shitty laptop I got for uni, I used to come to class and make beats in the back.
BN: What environments do you find to be the most productive to work in?
E: Probably my studio, but if I'm doing admin / event management work I like to try get out the house.
BN: Before getting into the workspace/studio, are there any small routines you have to get you in the right mindset?
E: Listening to music is the main thing. I have playlists of different styles of music that influences me - I'll go through certain vibes im feeling to get me in the right mindset.
BN:What’s your creative approach to music production? Do you go in with a concept in mind and labour over until it’s as desired, or do you prefer a more raw, impulsive approach?
E: I just make music and see what sticks. I'll normally have a certain style I'm going for each day and that's about it.
BN: What inspires you outside the world of music?
E: Idk, seeing homies work hard and output their work is pretty inspiring
BN: Where do you go to when you experience a creative/writer’s block?
E: I just play video games and listen to music, maybe work on High Bias plans. I'm not one to force creativity.
BN: It wasn’t so long ago since you released Hands Free. Was there a key element to this release? How was the process of producing this?
E: It's mostly a showcase of the new stuff I been working on. Ive been moving out of "lofi" so this new tape is a good benchmark of what I'll be making in the future.
BN: 2020 has been a testing, unkind time to the music industry. How has your experience of this time with restrictions in place turned out? Have you found any noticeable difference to the creative process or influence?
E: It botched my income quite a bit as I was DJing and running live shows. And it's harder to find motivation when you're stuck in the house all day.
BN: Any projects on the horizon/exciting things cropping up you’d like to mention?
E: Yeah we've got a clothing release lined up with my brand High Bias that releases in a few weeks, plus I should have a cassette ready later this year too.
