You just convinced me to sign up for Kiloheartz lol their free stuff is so good, and I use patcher in FL to create phaseplant like presets to then drop other presets into. Like modular. Phaseplant and the whole ecosystem they have seems to do that perfectly
Sounds sick... but also looks sick!!! What kinda Reaper scripts and layouts are you running? I'm learning it right now and this template looks super clean and efficient.
Awesome stuff! May I ask you how do you manage to get your analyzer docked like this without the whole reaper FX window ? I see you can dock it by right clicking but this looks super clean! Thank you! =)
I don't think there's a way to dock a plugin window without the full FX window (if there is I'd love to know!). He has a video called 'Sound Design Trick - Melda MAnalyzer Settings' where he explains his setup. I believe the analyzer window is just floating there and you can pop it in that exact location using a 'Screenset: save/load window set' action.
Tbh it's easy to create cool sounding organic weird FX but it's really hard to put that into context of a song or whatever you're creating. Most times it just makes your music "weird". Which can be nice in glitch hop, psytrance and bass music but I think you quickly grow tired of it. I'm very sad that the aspect of arrangement and harmony is being overtaken by sound design. Don't get me wrong, I love sound design, but I found myself also trapped in this neverending sound design vicious cycle. You start something interesting, identify interesting sounds but then you just refine these sounds and end up with something sounding decent but being musically just boring.
Keep in mind this channel is oriented to sound design for video games where you can find a lot more uses than in the context of music, although I get what you mean!
That cycle doesn't have to be neverending you just have to know when to stop designing and start arranging, that's the really tough skill to learn, is sample selection .and it's not super easily taught, that's one of the things that can take the longest to get good at. If you have very strong sample selection, sound design, and arrangement skills then you can make the whole picture work together. As far as bass music goes, Infekt is a really good example just off the top of my head.

The true challenge here is to make the SF film to match that sound.
