Wow, I had no idea there was enough iron in the aquasoil to be picked up with a magnet! 😶Really glad that it worked though! Awesome technique with the sand and bottle, dkf always has great tips for sure. The tank looks great! Hope you have a great weekend! 🙂👍
This was actually perfect for me to find out about the sand! I've been wanting to scrape my river rock gravel more centrally and add a border of sand to my riverscape tank, and so it's perfect timing for me!
The finer sand particles are going to sink deeper into pockets between the aquasoil. Best option would be to put the soil in something like Seachem Zip Bags. It will prevent individual pellets from being exposed by the sand
@@TropiscapeAquatics I had the same problem with my 32g flex tank. Wanted pure black sand layer on top but my driftwood floated and kicked up all the gravel underneath. I gave up trying to remove it all after a month. I will be using the bottle method you showed to try to cover the rest though
I can solve your Aquasoil issue! It's your amano shrimp. They are masters of this! I made a video about it a while ago! They dig dig dig dig and move it all around!
@@IndoorEcosystem Huh... Never really thought about doing it that way. I've been adding them before a carpet is super established to combat those initial diatom algae stages. Makes sense for something like the Dry Start Method though!
I love to look at aquariums. Nicely presented video! I am a professional artist and I share my paintings and demos here. So much to see and hear on RUclips. Cheers!
Bro! Great editing and personally the tank looks great no matter what!
Thanks!

It was astounding to see it work when I first filmed it! Blew my mind completely!
You are welcome, happy it worked out! ~Ocynk
Thank you very much for your help!

Oooh nice! Hope it turns out great!
That was cool about the sand. Daniel is a great guy.
I hadn't seen that vid. .
I had no idea about the magnet and aquasoil. Interesting
He indeed is a great guy! Got tons of hidden information!

Yup, I agree that would be better, but there's no going back! However, there isn't much aquasoil in the sand areas, from what I remember
@@TropiscapeAquatics other option is to just keep adding more sand until all the gaps are filled
Another option would also be to wait it out and keep removing it until there's none left. That's the long and painful method though

I knew it! Although, this won't even budge my love for them! 🥰
@@TropiscapeAquatics Me either. I just make sure I have my carpet finished before I add them!

I have never seen that magnet trick before.
Right? I never thought it would've worked!

Welcome!
What kind of sand did you use?
The sand doesn't have an actual brand attached to it. It was just labeled "sand" that I got from an LFS. For all I know, it could not even be sand 🙃
