I am loving the Clara BW. It has similar size to the basic kindle but with features of a paperwhite. I also love how it isn't as slippery as the basic Kindle and feels more solid.
Yeah, that's a good point about having similar features as the Paperwhite but in a smaller size like the basic Kindle. I also like the added texture and it doesn't scratch as easily as the plastic on the Kindle.
Ten days ago I bought a used Kindle 2022 basic, without ads, for only €25 with delivery. I am extremely satisfied. For people who already have Amazon prime, the Kindle is a good option. In addition, I believe that Amazon has a much larger selection of e-books. Kobo has an advantage in terms of water resistance and warm light, so probably if I was buying a new device, I would consider Kobo. I believe that whichever of these two e-readers you choose, you will not go wrong.
Amazon does have a trade-in feature where you can return an old Kindle for a voucher to contribute to your new Kindle purchase. Also you get 20% off the new one which is pretty great. I got the Kindle basic on release day in 2022 for £48 because they had some additional offers on at the time, which is an amazing deal. Although I would have loved the warm light, Kobo Clara BW would have ended up costing double what I paid for my Kindle basic. But I think when I’m ready to upgrade my Kindle, I will def consider Kobo next time especially since I exclusively use Calibre. Thanks for the video ❤ PS. Amazon customer service removed my ads for free when I contacted them so that was also really nice.
Decent overall review of the differences between the two devices. I would have enabled the footer on the Kobo tho, I do like that. Overall, glad I got the Clara BW, amazing device. I understand that you did mention the repair options, I think that could well be a pretty big thing. Something that should be mandatory in so many electrical devices that otherwise end up in landfills etc due to difficulties to repair.
Wow, this video makes the colour screen look dreadful. I am not talking about the washed out colours, which I am fine with. But it looks so dull, grainy, and unsharp next to the Kindle. It makes we reconsider whether I want to upgrade to a colour device.
The PDF experience on both is poor due to the smaller screen. If you want to read a lot of PDFs I would recommend going with a Scribe or Elipsa, though I do think an e-ink tablet like a Boox or Remarkable would probably be a better experience.
The Nia's hardware is 7 years old so it's not really comparable to anything at this point, and it looks like Kobo is finally discontinuing it because they removed it from their UK store.

I should be getting my Clara BW in a few days can't wait.
You had me on “ads on the homescreen” for the kindle. Kobo it is!
It's easy to remove the ads without cost.
@@aumarigan I heard they are no longer doing this because ppl on tiktok are abusing the system.

Helpful review as always, thank you!

Returned all the kobos and stuck to my kindle. I got the 6” too. I didn’t like that with kobo dark mode is only when reading and not on the homescreen
Thank you. Well done and useful
Is there an option to have a clock on the top of the screen on Kobo?
No, there's not a setting for that.
You can do it through calibre there’s a plug in you copy onto the Kobos called “Nickleclock”
which one is better in pdf

thank you for the video, is it possible with kobo to send yourself books from the phone as i do with kindle?
Kobo has overdrive integration built-in, so don't even need to use a phone. You can also sideload directly from your computer.
Do either of the e readers have the op for listening to an audiobook? Tia…
Yes you can on both devices, you just gotta connect Bluetooth earbuds or speaker to be able to hear it.
thanks
Isn't Kobo Nia as Kobo's entry level e-reader more comparable to the basic Kindle, whilst Kobo Clara is more comparable to Kindle Paperwhite?

That's the Libra
@@gustavovm491Bro, Libra isn’t comparable to Clara BW, Clara is better in everything except that it has no stylus support or color screen.
Ferve Dream. Great vampire book!
Im sorry, what? You have to pay a monthly fee to Amazon to not see ads?? Amazon really loves money grabbing wherever they can huh? 😅
It's a one-time fee of $20, but you can get them removed for free 99% of the time if you just ask customer support nicely.
Is the power button placement on the kobo as annoying as it seems?
I would still buy a kindle simply because of its page turning speed. I don't understand how kobo still lacks in this aspect.
Kobo does not lack in this aspect. Not sure where you're getting that from.
翻頁速度一直以來都不是電子閱讀器的最主要考量,因為人正常閱讀速度並非像是閱讀漫畫一樣快,所以我不認為在這點上有什麼需要好被針對的。
