Damn, for the past 30+ years I was certain this was from Super Battleship Yamato until I got to watch the first episodes of that show and realized it actually wasn't that. I was around 4-5 years old and I remember a few moments from this show but the most vivid one was the one where they use a medallion to open a secret passage that lead them to the carrier/submarine (that's episode 2). Also I remember a TV station showing Super Battleship Yamato and I always wondered why the show went from mostly battles in the water to flying around space. But I was so young, that I am amazed I even remember this.
My dad got this from a car boot sale when we were kids, had no idea it was an anime until I looked it up feeling nostalgic. I'm going to watch the entire series now lol. We only had the first few episodes on tape!
This was probably my first anime. Didn't have cable as kid, so I was never able to see some shows in my area. No Thunder Cats, Transformers, or GI Joe. Occasionally He-Man and She-Ra, but for the most part just PBS. I remember this show so well though - in shocking detail. Enough to know that someone else who had posted the series a few years ago actually missed an entire episode. Strange how ...25 years later, the memory of something like this show will stick. Thanks for uploading!
wow , this is like a time machine , . . . took me back to those simple days, . . . thundersub, voltron, silver hawks, air wolf , knight rider , the wizard , macgyver, Swamp thing, Manimal, The A team, War of the worlds, . . . . i miss old days . . . :(
Ol' boy! Those were the days o! I remember quickly rushing home just so I could do my homework & household chores on time so that, I could watch the cartoons you mentioned as well as Terrahawks! TAKIA!
Watched this when I was kid - it was broadcasted only in English and without subtitles. I didn’t understand anything, but the pictures were nothing but awesome!
The opening title narrator is William Windom (The 22nd Century, an era of peace and harmony...), imitating his own intro narration from the old scifi show The Invaders. Windom did many cartoon opens in the 70s and 80s. The narrator within the Thundersub story (It is the year 2052...) is someone else. Colin Collins voice was provided by actor Bruce Greenwood. Captain Noah was performed by Howard Ryshpan.
Now this brings back memories of Kool Kat morning cartoons on Sky TV when my dad was stationed in the NL. This and robotech were one of my favorite cartoons as a kid.
In Yugoslavia (former), on Super channel , mid to late 80's. Some cartoon show with (Duch?) kid and his fur friend Moush-moush, something like that... Saturday mornings, and ..thanks to this and alike, I learned English :-)
Omg I did not know there was a tv series. When I was a kid I had a video cassette tape thundersub movie which was 86 mins long. Thank you for uploading.
Great to find Thunder Sub (aka Blue Noah) again - I watched it (along with a few other anime classics) avidly on Super Channel in the UK in the late-80s. Pretty typical 70s anime (or a Western reworking of one), and enjoyable enough if you like that kind of show. I do...
William Woodson, and the intro he did for Thundersub is very similar to the intro he narrated for The Invaders series from the 60s. Both shows about alien invasion using the same intro narrator, and both shows also used someone else to do the episode narration. The people who dubbed Thundersub went to great care to make it in the same image as The Invaders and it absolutely pays off. Brllilliant work.
Blue Noah, also known as the west as Thunder Sub,was the creation of the late Yoshinobu Nizhizaki, producer and co-creator of Space Battleship Yamato/Star Blazers.
Had to come back to view this anime/cartoon after my childhood years not for entertainment sake but to decide some subliminal message enshrined in it. War of the end!
Actually, this is a custom made remaster using the japanese dvds with english audio overlayed. The original English version has a different sequence that points to hawaii
I understand when Sci-Fi TV series usually had low budget, but even in that cases some was able to pull out a reptilian mask for example, or at least rubber nose sellion and wig. But here? In cartoon? You can draw whatever you want - your imagination is an only limitation. And you draw humans in flamboyant tunics with capes and occasionally funny hats?
The show was called Super BOOS (Barts Own Official Show). I watched it too every saturday morning =) His teddy was mouse-mouse. a grey mouse basically.
This is the first time I'm seeing this show, never heard about it until recently. It didn't air(if it did, I don't remember it.) in the area where I grew up (New York City metro area.) We had Star Blazers & Voltron. This does remind me a lot of Star Blazers, I guess that's why I'm liking it. I'm glad I stumbled upon it, brings back good childhood memories, while, being something completely new. (Well, new to me at least.)
@Thundersub Do you have the Japanese DVD-box and would you be able to rip the discs to ISO-files for me? I'm aware it's available for download in MKV/MP4 formats etc, but I really want the actual DVDs ripped. I'm needing them to restore the episodes that were dubbed to my native language. I previously bought the Italian DVD-box only to find out it's worthless as it's lacking a bunch of scenes. Let me know if you (or anyone else here) can help me! I'm willing to pay for the favor.
It's funny, but a major attack by a hostile alien invasion force that totally overwhelms, & obliterates Earth. There's widespread destruction, everywhere, yet the cadets, in the middle of all of this mayhem, manage to wear uniforms which remain ABSOLUTELY SPOTLESS.
Actually the Narrator is the one who is incorrect for saying N1 is in Hawaii. But it had to be done because of the translation, dubbing & overall localization.
Niels Stender At the time this was aired outside of Japan? Nope! If you recall your History lessons, the 80's was still a time where people were still a bit weary of anything Japanese. Yes it has been four decades after World War II but the scars of the world war hasn't yet fully healed... And more importantly... weeaboos and wotakus weren't that plentiful yet back then. So the Japanese Culture wasn't a big thing then.
ooh there where otakus my friend ... and a lot of them .. cons and everything... just because you now have internet and can weeb together on some r34 website over some anime titties doesn't mean the community of weebs suddenly exploded in the last few generations ..
Someone in the creative staff of this show, just SERIOUSLY wanted Hawaii to be a part of Japan! (They must've one HELL of GOOD TIME in the "'Five-O' State").
So... This has the same art style as Space Battleship Yamato (Star blazers). Sadly I see some poor translations, like saying this show takes place in 22nd century but it's 2052. Japan is called Hawaii ( you aren't gonna get an A in Geography is you watch this show. Seriously Hawaii? How dumb do you think kids are and what was wrong with using Japan? Were you mad Hawaii wasn't on the map?) Collin's is so stiff and formal for a man his age. Jamie's voice would have been better.
omg this .. and robotech...the power channel. sky channel.. this was living ... cartoons nowadays are so lame.. my kids literally have dribbel on tellie today compared this these masterworks of animation.
I remember I woke up every Saturday mornings to watch cartoons like this. Happy memories.
i recall these from my childhood. such a great animation. This needs to be made into a Movie
Damn, for the past 30+ years I was certain this was from Super Battleship Yamato until I got to watch the first episodes of that show and realized it actually wasn't that. I'm used to watch this awesome anime as a kid it's were aired on the T. V iraq in mid of 80s and still keep watching it after all these long years
I watched this in Lagos Nigeria along with Voltron, Speed Racer and Battle of the Planets. my first forays into anime.
Me too
Good times !!!
Ol' boy! Those were the days o! I remember quickly rushing home just so I could do my homework & household chores on time so that, I could watch the cartoons you mentioned as well as Terrahawks!
TAKIA!
watching this as a kid over 30 years ago is one of my best memories ;)

Would this be the same William Windom who portrayed Matt Decker in the Star Trek episode The Doomsday Machine?
My best cartoon on NTA Channel 5.Those years😇
Omo naija !!!!! Yes ooooo
Never missed an episode. Telling my children about my childhood brought me here

damn the sense of nostalgia, damn it straight to hell
Omg I did not know there was a tv series.
When I was a kid I had a video cassette tape thundersub movie which was 86 mins long.
Thank you for uploading.
OMG, loved the show! I was 10 or 11 when it was broadcast. Thank you for bringing back nice memories
5:13 Hawaii sure looks huge here. In fact, it looks just like Japan. 🤔
Great to find Thunder Sub (aka Blue Noah) again - I watched it (along with a few other anime classics) avidly on Super Channel in the UK in the late-80s. Pretty typical 70s anime (or a Western reworking of one), and enjoyable enough if you like that kind of show. I do...
The title opening is narrated by the voice of Battle of The Planets opening! This show looks cool, love classic anime!
Thanks for uploading!
who narrated "the Battle of the planets"?
William Woodson, and the intro he did for Thundersub is very similar to the intro he narrated for The Invaders series from the 60s. thanks for this opportunity to see this series.
thanks so much. Enjoyed watching this years ago.
We Love it this Classics my friends. Thanks.
Thunder sub is also my favorite&a classic.
Gotta love that Jeff Wayne War of the Worlds style intro, good Richard Burton imitation too!
You look like Colonel Lup'us...who stood still the end...thanks to you memories revisited ♥
My infant stage companion. Very faithful one, never betrayed me.
This is so similar to Starblazer/Spaceship Yamato it's unbelievable!
I think it’s the same guy who did both
how i wish they can remake this animation into real movie life now they can do many trick on the screen i was a school boy back then 1980's
Among the best of animated cartoons ever imagined....
The Japanese title is "Space Carrier Blue Noah"
I used to see this in Pakistan in 1985! My first ever anime
my cousin's father was posted way back then and he had all the episodes on VHS along with Knight Rider and Airwolf
Did they have to say Hawaii. It is clearly Japan. Adaptation miracles.....
Actually, this is a custom made remaster using the japanese dvds with english audio overlayed. The original English version has a different sequence that points to hawaii
That was exactly what my daughter said when I was showing the cartoon I washed when I was little.
@@roladun did you washed it clean?
Or, maybe in this version of the future, there is a town in Japan called Hawaii.... LOL
perfect in greece had been translated only 9 episodes...now ill watch all 26
Thank you. Just wanted to see something in this spirit.
Damn my favorite tv serieswhen i was a kid.
Aliens spying on the Earth? Better put the Star Force & the Argo on full alert!!
The show was called Super BOOS (Barts Own Official Show). I watched it too every saturday morning =) His teddy was mouse-mouse. a grey mouse basically.

the feels of star blazers is huge
Because it was created by the same creators as space battleship Yamato.
oh.. memories.. :)
thanks (thumbs up)..
i learned english from this anime its amazing story
5:15 N1 located in "Hawaii", eh? LOL Hawaii sure is a lot farther east than I remember!
@Thundersub Do you have the Japanese DVD-box and would you be able to rip the discs to ISO-files for me? Where can I download the MKV/MP4 format files with English dubbing?
Huh. Hawaii moved awfully far north and west.
ohhh the good old dayss
What about 18:00 ending music is that anyone has this wonderful music ?
+1
Why is Episode 2 missing??
wish all episodes were available...
Thanks a million
サンダーサブは、SFアニメ宇宙空母ブルーノアの海外版です!
"Located in Hawaii" hmm yes Hawaii
Thanks for the upload. Where can I get the episodes? Also do you know where I can get the Japanese episodes too? Please and thank you.
i just watch this when i was a kid in the philippines i just hope someday they will dubbed it in filipino
imagine if this was the earth now, minus the alien invasion, wouldn’t that be a sight
The invaders aren't that more advanced than Earth!
I never got to see this one. It was Robotech and War of the worlds (gatchaman)
懐かしい!
The Invaders, set out to 'CONQUER' the planet, then immediately proceed to "terraform" it?
N1 is in Hawaii, eh? Wonder if there was still anti-Japanese sentiment in the late 70s or if they just wanted to make it America-centric for appeal.
The other is tempest jr.attack boat.
ゴドム連邦軍が超手強い!時代劇に例えるとまるで、悪代官みたい!
Also, do you have this series in Japanese?
Is that Bruce Greenwood playing Colin?
Yep. Bruce Greenwood, uncredited like all the actors.
i always wondered who would win.
battleship yamato or thundersub. .
Only space battleship Andromeda can match the Yamato.
Well, that's clearly Hawaii...just like the N5 Facility is in Texas!!!
What was the name of the smaller sub? Tempest Tite?
Tempest Junior in English. Shira (dolphin) in the Japanese original.
Also, why all gather in a Single Building when 6G will already be a thing?!
MIDSHIPMEN
The map is inaccurate. N1 is in Japan not Hawaii.
Actually the Narrator is the one who is incorrect for saying N1 is in Hawaii.
But it had to be done because of the translation, dubbing & overall localization.
***** It would have worked fine just sticking to the original script.
Niels Stender At the time this was aired outside of Japan?
Nope!

Yes it has been four decades after World War II but the scars of the world war hasn't yet fully healed...

Someone in the creative staff of this show, just SERIOUSLY wanted Hawaii to be a part of Japan! (They must've one HELL of GOOD TIME in the "'Five-O' State").
for anime fans of the west you should search for Voltes Five.
Force Five was good too...came after Thunder Sub
whoever you are, you'll pay for this
Invasion of Hawaii, huh?
No kidding... and it looks just like Japan!
14:49
So... This has the same art style as Space Battleship Yamato (Star blazers). Sadly I see some poor translations, like saying this show takes place in 22nd century but it's 2052. IMO beats Space Battleship Yamato on almost all accounts
So... Star Blazers.
2024
This ep did fail in geography. Hawaii is really further east!
omg this .. and robotech...the power channel. sky channel.. this was living ... cartoons nowadays are so lame.. my kids literally have dribbel on tellie today compared this these masterworks of animation.
so old
