Just heard about Bob's passing. May he rest in peace. I grew up in Daly City (OLPH Class of 1957). Bob was one of my favorite 49ers. There was a rumor that he used to eat raw steak before a football game. Don't know how true it is but it made him into a real hero to 10 year old kids like me.
I delivered papers for the Call Bulletin long So Mayfair and Southgate. Bob fond me and paid me a penny a house to put fliers out for him. I did it all over Daly city. He was a greta guy. He owned a liquor store on 24th St near Castro in SF. used to go in and he remembered ,e. we had some good tals. He was such a terrific and REAL person.
Great guy. I lived in Daly CIty from 1947-1957. Graduated from OLPH in '57. after which my family moved down the peninsula. I followed Bob St. Clair's political evolution even after we left D.C. I still go there from time to time to see the places I used to haunt. Tons of great memories of my early years.
A giant of a man. He had a liquor store on Mission St just down the block were I grew up. I was in awe whenever I went in there to buy candy and he was there. I was so young, I didn't even know what Football was.
WHAT an NFL legend. His playing days (1954-1964) and on through the 80s were the great AND MOST FUN to watch years of the NFL. Today's NFL is not worth turning the TV on for, not to mention attempting to actually GO to a game. Who can afford it, and who cares?

John Madden is a Jefferson High School graduate. The overhead freeway signage lists State hwy. 82 as the route to the Bay Bridge. Interesting??
Bob says the Robinson went to Jeff but he actually went to Serra High School in San Mateo. Madden went to Jeff for sure.
May he rest in peace
I grew up in Daly City (Westlake) I'm writing a book about it
that italian farmer saying that bob legislated as badly as he played football. hilarious....
