  • We're back in a 2019 DS 7 Crossback, this time a Performance Line without DS' Active Scan suspension but with a 225bhp petrol engine. So, a better engine and simpler suspension - sounds like a better recipe, don't you think?

Very distinctive looking and offering good levels of comfort.
Renault, Peugeot, Citroen and now DS are really making some striking cars making the Germans look a little dull.

I admire the absence of pointless anti-French bashing as well as baseless complaints on pricing in your reviews.

i guess I'm pretty randomly asking but does anyone know of a good site to watch newly released tv shows online?

@Jalen Trent try flixzone. You can find it by googling :)

The DS active scan only works on the ultra prestige model when the Comfort mode is selected. When it is not selected the car drives and handles exactly the same as the other DS7 models.

Great review S. A very stylish car inside and out, and quite unique.

I absolutely love it, especially in Performance line trim with the more powerful 1.6 litre petrol engine.
    It's gorgeous!
I definitely would have taken it to Le Mans too :)

First of all congrats for your thorough review. I tested a ds7 two days ago.Actually i am between peugeot 5008 (1,6 cc 180hp petrol), skoda kodiaq (2.0 cc 190 hp diesel) and now ds7 (1.6 cc 225 hp petrol) I think it is a beautiful suv (better than other 2 without any doubt) feels more premium and when i drove it i felt it was much better than 5008. I need it for 5 member family and suprisingly it the rear seats were....fair enough for 3 adults. So what is your opinion;;where should i target??

Great Video Review. Yes I would consider choosing this Car as It has the better engine and I particularly like It In Perfomance Line

Great video guys! Really enjoy your style of reviews, nice and laid back. One thing I would like is that when you highlight something like the sound an engine makes, perhaps include some actual audio of the engine sound so we can hear what it sounds like. Other than this, keep it up! Subscribed.

Thank you Logan! Kind words. A clip highlighting the sound a little more didn't make it into the final edit (it just didn't fit well) but we'll try to include it next time. Thanks for the feedback, and thank you for subscribing!

Fabulous review. I must say, all the main French manufacturers are designing some very handsome cars these days.

Thank you! And thanks for commenting again. Agreed. Peugeot particularly. The DS in that grey though looks very good.

It looks great, and it seems to have good ground clearance and sit up high from the road - all good.

It'll be fun to see how it develops over time. Really looking forward to the 300bhp AWD hybrid...

I saw the range yesterday. I fell in love with the Prestige interior. The Performance Line styling imho doesn't suit the concept of a car which is clearly about Comfort, not Driving engagement.
In the showroom the black Alcantara showed every mark, every dust particle. The leather in the Prestige was really excellent quality. Certainly Mercedes/Volvo standard. Much, much nicer than, say the Ford or VW leather. The range of colours in the PLine didn't appeal to me. I would expect this car to be bought by a more mature driver. The Sport styling cliché really doesn't sit with either the buyer profile or tge type of car this is.
Seats were superb. I didn't want to get out of the thing.
The big glass function display screen is a better looking, more integrated design in real life than it appears on the videos.
I think on balance There isn't much difference between the P. Line and the 3008 GT Line except for the price. And the Prestige is superb, but a high spec E class 220 SE is cheaper and a safer bet for depreciation.
Nice car indeed, but a bit over-priced. It's priced above Mercedes, at about 20%/30% on top of the 3008. I think a 10% to 15% premium on the 3008 would be more reasonable.

If you dont like the active scan suspension, you can disable it in the car settings.

Active Scan feels weird. Standard suspension just feels better.

I am the owner of a Grand Chic, Opéra, THP225 DS7, and I must correct one thing. On your Ultra Prestige version, which would be the equivalent to my model, there are several suspension/acceleration modes. If your car with fitted with the Comfort Mode, then it also came with a Normal, Eco and Sports mode. Agreed, the Comfort mode might leave you in a marshmallow mood, but placed in the Sports or Normal mode, the car's handling is superb! Otherwise, good analysis of the car.

Good review and have to agree. I test drove a Ultra Prestige Diesel and was also slightly underwhelmed. I plan to test drive the Performance Line 225 EAT8, I'm sure I will be as impressed as you were.

Great review of a lovely car, but I’d of taken the Peugeot. 5008 GT premium 1.6 turbo petrol. and taken the two rear seats out so plenty of room for your camping gear .

Really like the way you revisited the car with different options. I am happy to hear that that Active Scan Suspension might not be worth the investment. I live in Rome so it would probably go haywire on these roads! I think I will use the extra money to get a better engine. Thanks for the information.

I found those gear paddles mounted too high and yes, they were "pah". Not enough input feel from then.

I love the interior, dashboard especially. It's just a little different, something the French are still so good at. Mercedes A Class dashboard looks plush and impressive but lacks that sense of style
