It always amazes me how GOOD simple fruit placed on top like that looks when it takes little effort, i need to remember this more when I get stressed over making my toppings pretty enough 😭😭😭

Could I offer a clean up hack? I put a larger-than -the - cake round of parchment that is cut in three or four pieces down on the pretty gold cake flat. I place them under the first layer but not too far in. Just enough so they cover the gold liner as a mess catch all. Once cake is fully iced, pull them out. Voila! Perfectly clean cake flat. ❤️. Lovely cake Anna.

For an approximate conversion from Fahrenheit to Celsius, round up to the next number that ends in a zero ( so 78 gets rounded up to 80) halve then take off 15! I do this when watching US TV shows and they mention the outside temperature!

British people leaving butter out overnight to get it to room temperature, meanwhile Australians are over here accidentally leaving the butter on the bench for 5mins and coming back to a puddle of liquid 😭 Totally not from personal experience 😂😂
Me but with chocolate buttons, now I just have a lump 😂
In Aussie winter I leave it out overnight and it is still rock hard 😭

I always find that there is to much sponge for the amount of buttercream in this type of american/british cake.
Maybe because I am French and it's all about the filling here?! 😂 I would definitely put double of buttercream and fresh fruits inside! 😍😏

Hey bestie. Love baking from Dessert Person as well and love **chefs kiss** the cream cheese frosting! Tips for less crumb is a larger amount of icing for the crumb coat and on the second coat pile your icing on top and moving excess downward on the sides instead of pulling up. Also, strips of parchment slightly under cake and on top of cake board make for easy clean up! Last, the full amount of icing sugar in the recipe helps set up the frosting more, so it’s more likely to be loosy-goosey if you leave some out!
I’m watching this during my lunch whilst working from home, and when you said “it’s 10 to 12” I looked at the clock in my kitchen and it was 10 to 12! 😆 cake looks scrummy, makes me want to do some baking! And who cares about a few crumbs in the frosting, it’s all going down the same hole anyway!

I recommend chilling the cake in the fridge before icing. You want a cold cake to ice/frost not room temperature.

Love the video! I’d suggest putting a very thin layer of icing on the board before you put the first cake layer on to glue it down.

I use brown sugar instead of white sugar in all my baking because the brown sugar has more moisture and better flavor

On the wall in your kitchen is a phone. Is it a working phone? Love the cake. I am gluten intolerant so do very little baking and did learn some things. I am 65 year old non baker, but would love to try that for an occasion for guests (not for me sadly).

With great difficulty! They only live about 10 minutes away so I wrapped it loosely in cling film with it on my lap 😂

Love Mark out of frame assuring you "It'll be fine." 🙂 You British are so hard on yourselves, hours of Mary Berry & Hollywood binging. Here in the US we triple the frosting between cake layers, celebrate crumbs and enjoy the cake with Champagne or Reisling. Your cake is lovely, your friend is going to love it because you made it. 🙂
