You know, you would absolutely LOVE the mini series KE did with Major Charles. He got a “real” taste of Korean military.
Just for reference, they have a close friend, Rev Chris, who filmed a lot of things with them. He is quite funny, in an English way….. he has a twin brother who is career military- Major Charles. He is very, very funny, as well as very handsome, not that you would care, but, just saying….. They did quite a few episodes on Charles in Korean military, and sharing military cultures. If you don’t find it on Korean Englishman, it is on their other channel, Jolly. If you enjoyed this series, you will really enjoy Major Charles!

From a discharged ,reserved and a proud South Korean army soldier, you were not allowed to have those kinds of delicacies from the px when you were in boot camp. Whereas you would be allowed to have them around your private rank after you get deployed to your designated unit. Also when you are in boot camp we were very limited on choice of food which was a whole lot different than the buffet style that the American military had. We would be served a set of food and even if we liked it or not we were resorted to shoving them down our throats because we felt like we would not survive if we did not. Other than that I am really enjoying your reactions from a former American soldier. 충성! Thank you for your service.

Having watched multiple episodes of the Korean Englishmen, in Korea, the convenience stores food selection is incredible. The service stations as well, sorry, Australian, my words may be different than yours, but one of them had such a food selection that you wouldn’t believe and it all looks so nice. Watching BTS enjoy their food is always fun, watching the English guys experiencing it makes it more so. Please watch more episodes, whether you share it with us or not, you will enjoy them, just like we enjoy watching yours.

I think the tables and sitting areas in the PX are different in Korea because their convenience stores have sitting areas and prep areas for customers to make their instant noodles in the shop. So they'd pay for their foods and items, then take it to the side area and use the shop's microwaves and set up to make their food and eat on the spot. Kind of like how some Wawa shops in Pennsylvania and West Virginia have sitting areas for customers to eat their food, but those places are more like rest stops off of major freeways.

If you really liked these series may I suggest an older series that The Korean Englishman did. ruclips.net/video/yW6oqQMfCBU/видео.html
I believe this older series inspired the newer series. Older series The Korean Englishman took twin brothers - Rev Chris (he's a reverend/priest) and his twin brother Commando Major Charles (British military) to a Korean military base but also a tour of Korea.
You'll also get to see more of what a Korean PX looks as well in this series.

Korean convenience stores have way more things than western ones too they have done a convenience store episode on their first trip. So it is not surprising that a military store would have more options too....but speaking of lunchables someone said charcuterie boards are because we have never outgrown lunchables so they are just an adult version of them....they are not wrong.

    • @Siluialwin
      @Siluialwin 13 дней назад

They also did the PX with the Twins that they took to the military if I am remembering right and they showed more of it. It really was more like a 7-11 but a Korean 7-11 which has way way more stuff than western ones and microwaves to heat food in. but they do have seating....in Korean convenience stores they have seating too. You buy your food microwave it and eat it in the store seating areas.

I'd wager that that scene was filmed in the PX. Concenience stores in my country vary in size, but larger ones usually have designated sitting areas to eat your ramen, oden, sandwiches or whatever it is you ordered. There's one across the street from my apartment that's almost exactly like this one (not gonna say the name cuz I don't wanna dox myself lol, just know it's an asian convenience store chain)

Midwest here - Wisconsin - I don't hear much of an accent from you. Just a hint of "East Coast", but I probably wouldn't have even picked up on that if you hadn't mentioned it. You just speak very clearly and enunciate well. I guess that's the "Captain Accent". And yeah...you drop the "t's" off the end of words. Instead of "restaurant" you said "restauran".

I think it is not restaurant, it is GS25 store, similar to 711. It is because asian convenient store not only got snacks, it got drinks, prepackaged food like fried chicken, instant noodles etc. The fried chicken might be available in the convenient store especially for boot camp area

    Really?
    Marine PXes must suck.
I was in the US Army back in the late 80s/early 90s and our PXes were more like a VERY limited Wal-Mart. You could buy actual groceries, Television sets, stereo sets, the original NES, stuff like that. There was a barber shop, a little counter like you'd find in a Mall where you could order burgers, or chicken or a slice of pizza, and a coffee shop. And a store front you could get non military style glasses made. The convenience store style PX was something I only saw during basic training.

Just felt the need to say, you're right Roscoe the normal Samyang Buldak noodles aren't that spicy, people overreact to them thinking they're the challenge noodles when really the ones that became the challenge were the 2x spice version. ☕️👀 (Personally I think the 2x spice ones taste better, someone should send you that version ~)
Edit : That's not me saying everyones acting, but a lot do and in this case specifically... I think they're just terrible with spicy things 😹

This is how you know the American military system is crap. Recruits volunteer service and they get lunchables and nasty nachos for snacks. Whereas in korea, military service is mandatory for all men of age yet they are well taken care of. Very sad and a real shame.
Also-Their 7-11s have microwaves and hot water machines so you can prepare the food then sit down and eat onsite. America is the only place in the world that has a culture of cram your food down your throat because you only have 5 mins to eat. Every body else in the world actually sit down and enjoy their meal time
