    "I'm not going to bring my hard work and my identity to someone I know will not appreciate it" Amen to that. When people ask what I would say to Trump if I got stuck with him in an elevator for instance, the answer is NOTHING. He is not someone I'd waste so much as a breathe on, it'd be like talking to a wall. He has no intention, or possibly even ability, to listen to any other sides apart from his own. Such a shame

    • @briganja
      @briganja 6 лет назад +1

      Rubiecat
      Really? I mean, yes it was incredibly brave, but I think most of the LGBT+ community has had this experience with coming out - whether at work, or to your family or friends. That was my experience anyway - coming out to the family was incredibly stressful because I knew their views on "the gays" (and they vote democrat, so I'm not even among the many who would be and have been kicked out of their homes for coming out), coming out to friends was stressful because I was the only one among my hs friends who was queer (at the time -- quite a few friends came out after college. But damn was it stressful to be the only one in such a weird cultural experiment as hs), and coming out to coworkers or your boss is always stressful because you never know if it will cost you your job (I have many friends for whom this has been the case).

    • @Rubiecat
      @Rubiecat 6 лет назад +13

      Yes I did experience coming out to hateful parents and clueless friends and I've personally never felt safe enough to be out to any colleagues ever, but I don't put these experiences on the same level as talking to someone like Mike Pence I guess ?
      I feel like there are levels to homophobia, some people just want us to be quiet and discreet and some literally want us to just.. die painfully. And Pence is definitely in the second category and also an extremely powerful person so yeah I would never have done what Karamo did even if I had the opportunity, he's definitely braver than most imo.

    • @briganja
      @briganja 6 лет назад +3

      I can see your POV, I guess I just have a different one :) I think the vast majority of people in the LGBTQ+ are all incredibly brave, in incomparable ways. It's the nature of our existence, really. But for me meeting someone in such a professional setting with the buffer of politeness that people usually hide behind, it's not as terrifying or as life-impacting as the personal relationships that we have and how we navigate those.
      But just for the record, I think Karamo is the bee's knees. I'm living for him. So I love what he does. Not necessarily because it's him that does it, but because he consistently does amazing things. What a fantastic person.

    I love Jonathan so much. What he said was really important. I get what Karamo and Tan were trying to say but I agree that if Trump was really open to conversations like that, there would already be growth to him by now. At this time and age, it's impossible to not be exposed enough to keep an open mind unless you choose not to.

    • @rhettjaramillo5034
      @rhettjaramillo5034 6 лет назад +2

      The idea that by having conversations is changing people's minds is ridiculous. I am gay. I am Mexican. I am an artist. I am Mormon. I am a moderate conservative. I've had endless loving conversations with friends, family, church members, fellow artists, and fellow LGBT people, and very rarely has anyone ever changed my mind. Being aware and being open and being able to have conversations does not equate to ending in agreement...at all. Very rarely do my conversations EVER end in agreement, but it does lead to more understanding of my friends and colleagues. If that was the case, then my having conversations would lead people to convert to conservatism as well, which isn't going to happen. Listening is not the only thing that needs to happen. Compromise needs to happen, and with the current state of things, neither side is willing to do that. For someone who is a moderate conservative, it is disheartening to see both extremes at each other's necks at all times because no one will admit to being wrong.

      i guess they come from similar viewpoints though. For me one of the major problems with politics (this is coming from a politics student btw) is the polarisation between viewpoints. Yes, it was great to see them debate in a respectful manner, however they still have a similar political stance in that they both aren’t the biggest fans of trump. it’s a completely different type of thing if you’re talking to someone who believes that your sexuality or gender or way of life is an abomination. That being said, I guess it shows how if people find things in common, they’re more likely to have a civilised debate. It’s a difficult one to call to be honest

    • @Rubiecat
      @Rubiecat 6 лет назад +8

      I mean there's a huge difference between debating with people who respect you as a person and debating with people who literally want to take away your rights and the rights of other marginalized people. Much easier to stay polite in the first situation.

    • @sarah-nv4db
      @sarah-nv4db 6 лет назад +64

      Hunter. WE DID NOT ONLY WANT MARRIAGE!!!! We want a world that does not hate us. And what you don’t understand is how stereotypical you have become. Gay men and women stereotypically don’t think about trans peoples. We NEED to stand up for the rest of LGBTQ+ like the feminists did for us. Otherwise you are not LGBTQ+ you are just Gay. With that I leave you with:
      Trans Rights ARE HUMAN Rights.

    • @FloraWest
      @FloraWest 6 лет назад +21

      And I disagree with virtually all of his stance on those bigger issues as well because I like the environment, public education, a cabinet who doesn't work for personal gain, immigrant/humanitarian rights, and the list goes on. Others are welcome to continue this conversation but I'm done now because neither of us will be convincing one another of anything. My point a point by point debate will not change your mind and you certainly won't be changing mine if the talking points above are where your opinions are grounded. I have a finite amount of energy and won't be using anymore of it here.

He's proven that by making it as difficult as possible for me to get health care, a fair and equal education, and a job.

      The problem is that inviting members of the Trump administration normalizes them and gives them legitimacy. They are not willing to have an open conversation about current affairs. They blatantly lie, misdirect, slander and ignore evidence. You will not change Trump's or even Sarah Sander's minds. You will give them free publicity and a pet gay to use for advertising.

Antoni has revealed that he has been getting therapy and that he regards himself as being on the spectrum sexually ( though he does not identify as bisexual) - the poor man lost it on the Mamma Tammy episode.
      Plus people are constantly questioning his cooking skills forgetting that he is being directed by a production team who are taking the abilities of the "heroes" into account. Frankly, I think this whole Fab 5 thing has put him under a lot of stress.

      +Kristine Maitland, After watching season 2 and some interview videos online, I've really noticed that he's very much less expressive and seemingly uncomfortable in situations where there are a lot of things going on or when people around him are just very highly spirited. The whole 'avocado jokes' and how 'he's not contributing enough' comments are probably adding to that too. I'm worried that he might feel left out by the group. Fab 5 need to notice their issues, seek help, and support each other getting through, cus they really need some self-care too.

    The reason why young people need to eat avocados is to stay healthy and prevent themselves from getting sick, because they don't have decent healthcare and won't be able to afford all those hospital bills.

    Well avocado is expensive in Australia. And the shops can charge through the roof if you eat out of home. You could actually get a house deposit with the obsession some people have.

    I think for someone to understand another's point of view, they must first believe that the other person has value. Trump does NOT displays this trait in any fashion.

    As much as I love watching these guys kikiing and having fun, but it is so refreshing to see 5 strong gay men having a serious discussion. So often are a group of gay men used by the media as light relief rather than allowing them to talk intelligently.

    Jonathan is misunderstood because he has a feminine side. Feminity is automatically thought to be not smart. We are all conditioned to do it. That's why people think he isn't smart. He is smart af and I love him and I will protect him forever!
