Anywhere in the US you can find decorated houses. Lots of New York, Pennsylvania, New Jersey homes are decorated. Sometimes an entire neighborhood gets together to produce a theme. So, it's not just New Orleans, it's a matter of who posts for online viewing. Trust me, there are thousands of houses decorated for Halloween. The next event will be for Christmas.

Halloween displays aren't normally just one night. 2 weeks before or even 4 weeks. Same with the many haunted houses. I have seen some very nicely decorated house. For every one of those there are 10 that are really kind of tacky. What is really spectacular in my area are the haunted houses. These are very expensive to go thru & will scare the bagebbers out of ya. They aren't just houses on display. Haunted factories, canneries, etc, etc. Could take a few hours to go thru. All the amusement parks, sports venues, the botanic gardens, the zoo has a Halloween for the little kids.

Yea, I was having a discussion on another social media platform with a Brit. I said that in the US Oct-Jan is almost non-stop festivities. Halloween for Oct, Thanksgiving for Nov, and then there's Christmas and New Years come Dec and Jan. Let's throw in the start of college football for mid-August while we're at it that goes on till early Jan of the following year. February is Valentine's and we get a small month break until Easter celebration in April.

I would say this was pretty mild as far as scariness went. This might be second through fifth grade. Not that all ages wouldn't love it. All the effort the guy went through very cool. The older kids and adults, if they wanted something scarier they would probably go to a haunted house. A place especially set up to be extra scary that you have to pay for.

My favorite Halloween fun is Fright Fest at 6 Flags over GA. The park is fully decorated, ghosts, ghouls, monsters and killer clowns roam the park. Multiple surcharged add on fright zones, haunted houses, a ghost train ride, even an in-coffin simulated burial attraction. Opens late afternoon for the kids during daylight hours, and gets creepier and scarier as it gets dark. I love going this time of year because it's not as hot as the regular season, the main reason though is because it's 1 of the few times a year the park is open after dark. Coasters at night are an addiction of mine.

In my area most people will get their decorations up the first weekend of October and then keep it up until the weekend after Halloween.
So decorations tend to stay up for roughly 3-4 weeks.
A friend of mine never decorated their house, they instead would put up long black tents and create a haunted path that you could go through.
If you went through the tent you got a full sized candy at the end. If you were too scared to go through you got a small fun sized candy instead.
Edit: had to fix spelling 😋

I love New Orleans. My mother, grandfather, and in-laws were born or live there so I have tons of roots. The real spooky thing are the Graveyard Ghost tours. They have to use family vaults for burial because during the storms they figured out bodies would float up on the surface so they have lots of old vaults and the graveyards are freaky

Hi James and Millie, love seeing you always. Another great video as usual I really enjoyed it. Definitely like your new digs a lot mote then you old one! Not that this is scary or directly Halloween related but when you come visit San Francisco, you should take the nighttime Chinatown neon sign tour. There is a website where you can make reservations and buy tickets. It's a really cool group walking tour led by a local guide. It's a tour at night of all these really cool historic neon signs in Chinatown. I've taken it and it's awesome. These neon signs have been there for years and are real works of art. I've been a local for years but never knew about these exquisite signs. Really cool pieces of San Francisco history and not the usually touristy thing to do. I think you would enjoy it and highly recommend you take the tour if you can!

Like the epic Christmas home light shows, some people put on insanely complex Halloween light shows on their houses and in their yards (The ones on RUclips have Copyrighted music so, probably not a good reaction). Some Americans set their garages and long driveways up as super complex haunted houses with scare actors (AKA roped in extended family members) and full up treat bag party favors. Sometimes the entire neighborhood goes all in on the street theming (like some HOA cult thing, same with Christmas. It is a suburbs thing) A single household could spend upwards of $200K+ over a few years on the event and then after Halloween usually take it all down and start working on the equally or often crazier Christmas decorating.

I have to blow my own horn here. Years ago, I dressed as a witch, I made giant gingerbread men, jelly beans, candy canes that were from the ground to the roof, large 13 inch red and white mints individually wrapped. I trimmed the whole house with red and white lights, put out a huge graveyard and made a large scaled scary forest filled with flying witches, bats, spiders and demons.... I have a corner lot and a lot of territory to fill up. I made wooden signs that followed the entire walkway that spelled out in rhyme the story of Hansel and Gretel and invited all the children to become my dinner as they did not show up and I was hungry! I had a huge pot belly right on doorstep with dry ice so it appeared to be boiling and when the kids came a knocking I asked them to jump in the pot as they looked yummy! I had several kids that took off running and crying to their parents! I did a repeat of this for about 4 years and it was a huge hit! I used to LOVE doing Halloween to the ninth!!!

Ah...New Orleans, a pagan-themed city (Mardi *gras); no surprise here.
I wonder whether they dress up their house for Christmas as much as for Halloween.
*My phone gave me this lowercased; I thought it was supposed capitalized.

I live in a gated community, so thankfully we are protected from crazy people decorating months in advance and having lights and noise every night. We can decorate two weeks in advance, but lights can only stay on at night during the week of the holiday and outdoor noise/music only the night of. It's one of the few good things about living in a HOA-ruled community. I love Halloween, but I don't want to see and hear it from September on. We have great decorations and some people go all out, but it isn't allowed to become a nuisance.

Where I'm from Minnesota specifically St Paul Minnesota Summit Avenue the people up there they have really big houses and boy they do it up there's one house on particular that they turn their whole house into a haunted house and you have to go through the haunted house to get to the candy it's pretty awesome

People with like laser light shows you're not going to get any of that Until Dark but most folks put up most of their decorations soon as it hits October maybe the first week after and then a day or two after Halloween everything's down just like Christmas everything's up for about a month
