This song doesn't feel like anxiety to me. It feels like something great, tremendous is approaching, and I await with a mix of excitement and trepidation
I love Anna so much. This song is crazy because it really feels like the raw idea of the whole album which is obviously experimental so you get hit with this extremely weird and raw song right off the bat. The rest of the album feels like this but more thinned out. It's almost like she shows you the greatness in the simplest things. She shows you something seemingly ugly then shows you the beauty in it.
Your sooooo glad I know the context behind what you’re saying because if I didn’t I’ll probably think you typed this and are watching this video because your every high
(Answering 3 years later, but whatever) Agree with Philip Glass and Battles, but the absolute FILTH of this song reminds me of Dillinger Escape Plan's Calculating Infinity when I first heard it at around 16. I love it.
I saw Anna live at a festival two days ago, stumbled upon her by accident. She started her set with this... totally blown away by her music, so powerful.
everytime i listen to this song it surprises me. it's so aggressive and monstrous. it makes me think of the most intense, insane movie trailer ever. like something that you can't even imagine. bombs going off. colors everywhere. people yelling with everything they have in their bodies. until blood fills their lungs and starts pouring out of their eyes and ears and mouth. and then they metamorphose into humanoid butterfly monsters that can shatter plains of existence in a single stroke of their infinitely coloured wings.and they do. and all we can do is watch. and listen.
TheAndrewc5120 You forgot the part where the multicolored phasmoid manifests at the center of time and erupts quantum flux waves that shatter all consciousness.
This song is literally encompasses all my emotions on a bad trip... The repetitive scary thoughts and feeling of falling through the unknown... Beautiful
It's utterly insane and totally thrilling - got a bit of the Doctor Whos about it!. I actually think this would make a great soundtrack to the old Soviet footage of Yuri Gagarin's flight into space.
I found this song late, like 6 months ago, and was obsessed right away. Usually I overplay a song I really love and end up hating it like 2 weeks later. I've probably listened now to Nautilus every single day at least once and I still love it.
One of the few times I’ve listened to a soundtrack in a TV show and realised how much of an impact it has on the entire experience. I had to know more. And here I am.
After watching Living With Yourself, I've found myself humming this a lot. Finally looked it up. Great work! So emotional- tension, anxiety, overwhelming, confidence.
I've been trying to think of a way to describe this song for almost a year, since I first heard it in their NPR tiny desk performance. The only word I can think of is: anticipation. The entire song feels like something big is coming, and then it ends. It's beautifully eerie.
I honestly cannot figure out where a bar of this song would start and end and somehow the addition of a snare drum doesn’t help that. Mind you this absolutely fits the song.
I love this track. They play it regularly on BBC 6 music, which is where I discovered it. It always reminds me of the fantastic sea creature if the same name...
@sir.clodmus 69 Oh is that a fact? Do tell kind sir, what exactly you like about this? Is it the lack of any melodic cohesion? Or the syncopated drum that comes in 2 minutes late? Nvm I honestly couldn't give a fuck less about the opinion of a brony.
Listening to this on 6 Music with my wife, after about one minute we were laughing "this is weird - even by their standards". Towards the end we had invented a strange manical dance and had been quite drawn in by it.
Davies? We were there Friday night, AMAZING performance. I wish we could make it more often. Please send my regards to everyone in the ochrestra. To say both times we have been there has been life changing would be an understatement.
Used in Black Butterflies on Netflix this is just amazing. The ominous sound of this slightly crazed and obsessed. I had to look this up after hearing it in the series. What kind of album is this? classical?
this is the soundtrack of an anxiety attack
Eex Diddy thank you, I was just thinking that. The animation seems to express that too.
except its only three and a half minutes long.
Yes! But why do I love it so?
@@braithersb7712 it’s in Bluecoats show this year I love it
I got hipness
This is the best part of Bloo 22. I love the groove and it sounds so different than anything Bloo has done before
i agree
my only exception is the keytar
Totally agree! The keytar grew on me and I generally loved the whole show. But this section was easily my favorite and was from the very start.
And now they're using "Bump"
This song doesn't feel like anxiety to me. It feels like something great, tremendous is approaching, and I await with a mix of excitement and trepidation
song feels like when I took stimulants for ADHD the first month before I got used to em
which is to say: exactly what you described
love your description. there’s also a big, shallow sadness to it.
Like a Roman triumph
Like a fart/shart when you're over 50.
Found this thanks to the Bluecoats 2022 show - Riffs & Revelations. There's just something about this tune. Can't get it out of my head! 😅
How in the f did they come up with this song for the show
@@LaurenceTT they probably "top songs that sound like an acid trip"
Bro, listen to the new orchestral version. It’s a work of energetic art
Really love the animation. Has a classic Cartoon Network vibe to it
814ckd347h watching this reminds me of Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends
Roman†icism reminds me of samurai Jack more than anything
Gonna be interesting to see Bloo play this

you wanna dance with that dude?
The newly released orchestral version arranged by conductor Dalia Stasevska is INSANE! So good 🔥
gave me the same thrill as was when I first heard Philip Glass age 12, and later on when hearing Battles' Atlas it gave me a similar Aha-erlbenis
(Answering 3 years later, but whatever)

TheAndrewc5120 I love this comment.
Don't forget the raining fingernails' intro.
Weird, it makes me think of the infinite headaches the "tune" (?) must have caused.
TheAndrewc5120 You forgot the part where the multicolored phasmoid manifests at the center of time and erupts quantum flux waves that shatter all consciousness.
TheAndrewc5120 Reminds me of when all the dinosaurs died in Fantasia.
Oh man, this is just BRILLIANT.
This is the most stressful piece of music ever
This song is literally encompasses all my emotions on a bad trip... The repetitive scary thoughts and feeling of falling through the unknown... Beautiful
Derby Days: River vs Boca... and this music was spot on to such a hell of a video

Hopefully.

Soviet realism at its most weirdly heroic, yes!
Love how Anna Meredith is blowing up. First DCI, now an iPhone commercial!
this song was used 4 years ago in a very popular youtube video about argentina's most intense soccer rivalry

I saw that one multiple times! The name of the commercial is "Serious Gaming Power" by the way, it's really cool!

One of the few times I’ve listened to a soundtrack in a TV show and realised how much of an impact it has on the entire experience. I had to know more. And here I am.
The music really does set the tone of the show. Its almost an alternate universe
THANK YOU, I completely forgot what this was from
Same and same
After watching Living With Yourself, I've found myself humming this a lot. Finally looked it up. Great work! So emotional- tension, anxiety, overwhelming, confidence.
That’s very true
I haven't been able to get this music out of my head since I started watching Living With Yourself. That was three months ago.
Same here but now it's been like a year
This song is the feeling of waiting for a sneeze
Brilliant! 😂
..........and i think that's perfectly demonstrated in the video.
This is very soothing and relaxing, I listen to this before sleeping

There’s a cricket documentary called ‘the edge’ & this is in the background when the players walk out at the MCG.
It’s perfect for the scene.
this whole song is just one large build up.....
The drop didn't come
because it's the first song of the album. It's supposed to get you pumped
yeah what a crime eh?
Mathias DP i would say someone could remix this and add a beat, but the rhythm is pretty weird so good luck with that 💁🏻♂️
anti-climax. its a thing.

Discovered Anna Meredith on Colette podcast !! Love the work of this artist !
Eighth grade?
YES
Bluecoats anyone?
I was so hyped when I heard this in their show, recognized it immediately from Eighth Grade
This is a socking good piece. Really gets your heart racing. Love it. Incidentally, why are people calling it a song?
I'd never heard of Anna Meredith until I saw "Eighth Grade" and had to look up the music used during the brutal pool party scene. It's perfect!
THE BEAT NEVER DROPS
God I love anxiety music.
heard this on Radio 6 today what a fantastic track acoustically and hookline LOVE IT
It's having a resurgence on 6 Music. I've heard about 3 times in as many weeks.

i like it for its unusual factor.
Heard in Papillons noirs on Arte TV. Darkly hypnotic.
I just can't listen to this song without moving my hands/ tapping aggressively in something in the same rhythm of the music

This sounds like some sort of final battle theme. Love it
Wow, it's like going on a journey. I heard this lady/band on Xfm exposure last night.

Excellent! It reminds me of the old track '24 Track Loop', by This Heat.
Came here because of Foals, they use it brillantly as set opener :)
Yes!
First time I heard this was when foals headlined at latitude festival 2013 it gave me goosebumps
major throwback to foals' last tour
"Living With Yourself" on Netflix, brought me here.
Don't quote it tho 🙋♂️
Ok but who came from Copa90’s amazing documentary about the Superclasico
Eighth Grade first, then Copa90.
No
Listening to this on 6 Music with my wife, after about one minute we were laughing "this is weird - even by their standards". Towards the end we had invented a strange manical dance and had been quite drawn in by it.

I love the unconventional and this fits the bill perfectly, I think I'm going to be an Anna Meredith fan from here on. More, more, more!
Thanks living with yourself for this song
Fantastic video and I love the music!
i fucking love this song. it does so much with so little and manages to be completely unique. it's so weird an fantastic and powerful and creative.

the perfect way to keep the crazy tense stranger things buzz going
Didn't expect a Bluecoats x Apple crossover
So at odds with the soft hippy Nespresso Breakfast Bagel ad that was stuck before it. That just made this more powerful.
